The kind of film most women love to see is all about romance, thus women pick a type of show that paints the fantasy of love sublime, so it’s dubbed a chick flick. I like the fun ones and the sad ones too, but there’s another genre I like more! Though dramas with great plot will always do, there is one type of drama I adore! There’s nothing like good horror and suspense. Inside the theater there is a hush as tension builds, and feelings grow intense, for your adrenaline will get a rush! The films like Hitchcock made I never missed. I love a scary movie with a twist! July 19, 2017 for the S Form contest of Broken Wings: Sonnet form. Chosen word: Scary

This is wonderful, Andrea, and I adore Hitch movies!! (And any good suspense - I'm about to watch Alien: Covenant for the first time - Ridley Scott is my fav!) Such a well-deserved win, my friend! Blessings! :-) <3

Violence in movies destroyed western society. Violence is normalized to children, and when they are in an eventual crises, violence is natural. Never should violence have been aired anywhere.

I like Hitchcock movies too and have every one of his, but as for scary, the Shinning was tops! I never saw Jack Nicholson the same way again after that movie. Great writing Andrea. Wish we lived close enough to see movies together. "Boss Baby" is out now and my daughter is buying it as we all saw it together and it was very amusing. : )

Hey Andrea! I am still in school for my Masters in Poetry! It's going well. In fact I am taking my poetry class right now, this term. That is why I have time to post my poetry that I have been working on for class, plus other poetry as well. The next bunch of classes are creative writing classes as I took all the harder classes first and got them out of the way. And I should have time to post and respond to poetry without a problem. I have 5 classes to finish my degree, I've done 7 so far! TTYL!

If you enjoy watching horror then I bet you must have watched American Horror Story. I have been watching all the seasons and I loved The black mirror too. Such a layered show.

I don't like scary movies too much - I don't know if I am going to see Stephen King's "The Dark Tower". I do recommend "A Quiet Passion" which is about Emily Dickinson. You can stream in on your computer. I like the way you rhymed in this poem. Most modern poetry doesn't rhyme. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

You have brought me delight by your fabulous writing, and I have certainly been enamored by your incredible skill! Your first stanza was spectacular. Hitchcock movies are different. Classy! Slasher movies suck! I'll take a good western anytime. Cool sonnet, Andrea and a great topic:)

yes, I wholeheartedly agree. I hate movies that are purely about killing people off (though I really did like the first Destination movie). A few slasher films are ok as long as they have a truly well developed plot.
