Chasing the wind and butterflies 
Blowing dandelions and watching them rise.
The feel of soft grass beneath tiny feet
Not yet knowing the feel of defeat.
Growing up 
Mud puddles to jump.
Catching fish in the nearby creek
Playing games of hide and seek.
Growing older
Standing shoulder to shoulder.
Reading books by flashlight
Giggling with friends all night.
The excitement of a boyfriend
Dreaming of

Less trouble

DOG CHASES TAIL

In circles goes the dog, 
a furry whirlwind, tail a-wagging,
his nose to the ground, sniffing out the ghost of a bone
with no clue as to where he left it. 
Ahh, the circle grows, and me thinks he’s quite mad!

Truth be told, that bone is a relic,
a trophy of nothing, a piece of yesterday's

because I can’t see, doesn’t mean I’m not the host
spirits have always been attracted to me
I do not discount the dogs, just because I don’t see.
