Premium MemberThe perfect pairing

today i bought
a small bouquet
six long stems
of tender buds
in vivid blue

as luck
would have it
the day before
i'd bought a tall
and slender vase
never thinking
the two were
destined for
each other

the bouquet
slid into the vase
like it was
meant to be
a rare elegance
i'd rarely seen

so here we are
in awe
admiring
six irises
in their
graceful
ballerina
pose

Premium MemberThe Devil's Bouquet

I see demons
I see ghosts
Staring at me from the bedposts
Gargoyles of grotesquery
Statues of misanthropy
The Prince of darkness has come for me

There's evil in this room
I can smell the sulfur in his perfume
A fiendish foray into Axe body spray
Wedded with used ashtray
Trade name The Devil's Bouquet

Why

Premium MemberInsanity's Bouquet

“I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be” ~ Pip in Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

I'm all in pieces, in sad disarray,
holding your gift, insanity's bouquet.

Premium MemberBouquet Of Belonging

A nomad wanders
in labyrinthine wasteland
of the denuded life,
          desolate,
the sinuous dusty track
takes me
to the obscure terrain
of forlorn nowhere.
My soul’s lattice,
          entranced,
migrates mystified,

Butterflies~
scarred and stained,
breathe within a glass cocoon
spun with black-widow silk and smoke,
waving weary wings
in the midst of nothingness,
c h a i n e d with bleeding petals
from a garden of grief,
caught in gossamer greed,
that feeds insidious seeds
to this chrysalis heart,
weeping in seething silence,
as the world cares not to heed
tunes of trauma,
ricocheting through
flutes of patience,
oblivious to

Premium MemberBouquet for the Soul

I need to find me again
Lost since way back when
To change the color of a thought
Find myself that I forgot

Scorching red, darkest burning black
Needing brightest pastels brought back
Pale purple will become a written flower
Only vibrant colors hold that power
Pink, orange & yellow bloom a sunset rose
Purely pearl white only a daisy knows
Greens & browns are

Premium MemberA Sonnet Bouquet for Soupers Lost

For Soupers lost – a beautiful bouquet:
for Devonshire and our sweet Connie Wong
(to name at least a few who passed away.)
The list of those deceased has now grown long
since I first came to this site years ago.
I wish that all the new arrivals here
who make Soup great had had the chance to know
the poets who

On the upcoming Mothers’ Day,
a unique floral gift she’ll give, thought May.
In the garden she spends quite a while,
waters the plants so the flowers will smile.
The plants don’t grow tall as time passes by,
flowers don’t bloom big, she doesn’t know why.
So, she keeps on praying day and night,
let God blossom flowers, big and bright.

At month’s
