Drowning
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ in life:
Something ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ drew me down,
My ¦¦¦ strength ¦¦¦¦¦ failed me.
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦ suddenly needed help
And ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ I ended up
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ in Spoon River.
¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ they hauled me up ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ unhooked the rope ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
And ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ flung my ¦¦¦¦¦ arms
Over the ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ top of the tower --
¦¦¦ they slipped ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ down, I plunged
Through ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ darkness!
