Now, when the day is cool and new
While fragile light is still allowed
My paper captures views of you
Your eyes, the shape of shifting clouds
While fragile light is still allowed
I sketch your hair as blooming trees
Your eyes, the shape of shifting clouds
As rain replenishes the seas
I sketch your hair as blooming trees
Noting beauty by star's contrast
As rain replenishes the seas
Like amulets from journeys past
Noting beauty by star's contrast
Where mirrors stand, fractured and bent
Like amulets from journeys past
With all the futures you present
Where mirrors stand, fractured and bent
My paper captures views of you
With all the futures you present
Now, when the day is cool and new.
twilight seduces in reds and yellows
birds drift away out of sight
purple and blue is the high sky
the day has changed into night
stars appear to drip in silence
and cause a lonely wolf to call
meadows fill with glorious moon rays
streams in the valley create a waterfall
crickets sing out in harmony
here, time will always move slow

To love that which can not be loved
Is to accept grace from the Lord above
To hate that which should not be hated
Is to let one’s self be eternally degraded
To think that which should not be thought
Allows your own soul to be easily bought
Most things in life are very easy to see
If you hold simplistic views like me
“It is what it is” and it always was
The reason why, “Just because”
What shall happen shall come to pass
Accept it gracefully and show your class
As you live out the story of your today
Let Jesus Christ guide your way
In doing so you will be able to see
The Lord guiding you to eternity
A child's view:
"Why did you leave us dear mom and dad?"
"Did we do something to make you mad?"
Tears on our faces, as we see you drive away.
"Please come back, we'll be good everyday!"
Our foster mother hates us, we don't know why.
Maybe she hits us, because all we do is cry.
My sister tries to protect me, but she gets beat instead.
It's hard not to hate her, she raps her knuckles on our heads.
But I'm just 3, my sister barely six.
We don't know what happened...how do we fix?
"Where are our brothers? We miss them so!"
"How can you love us and just let us all go?"
An adult's view:
Scars of abandonment haunt our souls.
Self confidence battered and full of holes.
Hate and resentment learned so young.
Our spirits crushed, our sorrows unsung.
Trusting of others is extremely hard.
Self protecting.......eternally on guard.
Escaping the past, we run away.
Coping mechanisms always in play.
Failed relationships in abundance.
Struggling against all compliance.
Memories buried in recesses of the mind.
Lessened only by the passage of time.

Is this a world of lies and deceit?
Is deception the norm of the human life?
Must heartache reign for infinity?
Is living a lifetime a nightmarish hell?
Where can I find the solace I need?
When masks of deceit abound
And I know not who's friend or foe,
Who truly lends a hand in need?
Or is just calculating his own growth?
I feel resentment grow in me.
Am I to be a recluse, escape from all?
Am I to yearn for days gone by,
When childishly I trusted all?
I pull the brakes and little rays of hope
Amass and grow strong in my soul.
The dawning sun shines on the forest green.
There is a blessing in the dew that drips
From newly sprouted leaves of trees.
The white crisp frost thaws slowly
As the day grows slowly old like me.
The beauty of creation embraces all:
An ageless gift forever new.
And so I realize that God is there
With me to fill each of my lonely dreams
And fulfils me forever with His hope.
Jaded by the put me downs
Justly feel my facial frowns
Jaundiced views debilitate
Jeopardise my feeble state

Some poets tell of what they see
no matter the popular cost,
Others can’t see the dying tree,
for the pretty Spanish Moss.
Beyond the golden horizon she dwells
lightening up more than just a dream
shadows teasingly move
along with the mountains
playing out tantalizing possibilities
where into my vision she'll lie
Darkness descends with
submissive amends
love just a heartbeat away
passions entwined
ethereal oils float by long
before the dewdrops subside
When I was young and clueless,
If retirement appeared
Somehow upon my radar
I would think it pretty weird.
But if I gave some thought to where
My future self might be,
Most likely it would be a little
Cabin by the sea.
A stroll into a charming town,
My cottage with a view,
A garden and a lot of time
To do the things I’d do.
But life takes unexpected turns
And there’s no magic math
To calculate the ending
As we chart our chosen path.
And as the years unfold we find
The follies of our youth
Seem fictional when they’re compared
To living’s harsher truth.
Ironically, though, in my
Long-time view-free home, I am
Retired, far from seaside
And contented as a clam.
He was cocky, he was bold
His views, they left me cold
And I thought he was just another jock
He was black and I was white
But there was something wasn’t right
Still I held on to my views like a rock
He began to gain some fame
He even changed his name
I thought I’d love to see him fall
When he refused to serve
I said he had a lot of nerve
He was wrong about his stand and that was all
He was a threat, becoming an idol
So they took away his title
And I began to wonder about this man
Was I wrong in what I perceive
When you stand up for what you believe
Was it true that I was becoming a fan
He reclaimed the title without fear
Each time he’d win I’d jump and cheer
There was more to him than met the eye
If there was one person I would have to choose
Who helped me accept opposing views
Then he would be the reason why

Seeing Shoes with Views
When we would start seeing our shoes,
Around each one there are many views;
And shoe fly;
Go bye bye;
They come in a pair always being twos.

Nothing that you have ever read before
for sure to endure that of took a tour.
When I stand on the back hill, I can see through the trees
To the mountains in the distance
I can feel like I am on top of the world,
As I view the beauty that lies before me
The skyline in each direction offers sunrises and sunsets
Never to be forgotten
Each season offers new sights, revolving through my world
It is quiet here, bringing a special serenity
But offers sounds from nature when the birds sing,
The Turkey gobble or chipmunk chirp across the stone wall
Now, the blue sky emerges after a rainy day,
Decorated with white stripes of clouds
And the gray slowly leaves, relief behind

1.
Eternal Spring
O Peaceful trees
Permit the bees
To raid your flowers
As they please
And let the breeze
Play with your leaves
Before they meet
Old winter’s freeze
And waft your fragrance
Everywhere
And strew your petals in my hair
For spring will bring it all
And let you
Squander it again.

As Seasons Go
Lifeless
Dormant in the ground
Stick- like to my view
And yet in spring
Yourself will you renew
And leaves and fruit abound
Rejoicing in the dew
And verdant will your vines
Bring forth
The possibility
Of nectar sweet your winter wines
Will bring me ecstacy.
Return to dormancy
Content I’ll be
To let you mark the seasons
For eternity
And me.
