Is this a world of lies and deceit? Is deception the norm of the human life? Must heartache reign for infinity? Is living a lifetime a nightmarish hell? Where can I find the solace I need? When masks of deceit abound And I know not who's friend or foe, Who truly lends a hand in need? Or is just calculating his own growth? I feel resentment grow in me. Am I to be a recluse, escape from all? Am I to yearn for days gone by, When childishly I trusted all? I pull the brakes and little rays of hope Amass and grow strong in my soul. The dawning sun shines on the forest green. There is a blessing in the dew that drips From newly sprouted leaves of trees. The white crisp frost thaws slowly As the day grows slowly old like me. The beauty of creation embraces all: An ageless gift forever new. And so I realize that God is there With me to fill each of my lonely dreams And fulfils me forever with His hope.

A wonderful write Victor, one only has to open their eyes to see all of life’s atrocity. God is there fulfilling hopes and dreams - “The dawning sun shines on the forest green.” ~ Belle

Beautifully written and well expressed Victor. I think you speak for many of us when you say,"I feel resentment grow in me, Am I to be a recluse, escape from all, Am I to yearn for days gone by, when childishly I trusted all.?" I think at times we all feel like we have been used by those we trusted as friends only to find they didn't love us quite as much as we loved them. A fine write as usual. God Bless, JB PS Didn't know you were in hospital. Hope all is well now.

There are many lessons to be learned from the resilience, stamina, and serene beauty and peace found in nature. Nature is the work of God's own loving hand. A wonderful poem! :)

Thank you Victor for the great reminder of how when we slow down and take in the beauty in God's creation we gain back our hope in a world of 'Lies and deceit'

WoW! Victor, You have penned such a well written deep write. In the midst of all the wrong in the world, basking in nature reminds us that God is there. That alone gives us hope. I enjoyed the read;-)Alexis

It was never meant to be heaven on earth and there will be many storms on the sea of life but we weather those storms and come out better for it. Tom

Much depth to the dialogue in the first stanza, Victor. And much hope in the second upbeat stanza. Together they make a wonderful poem.

There is something to be said about the phrase, "Everything will look better in the morning." Darkness brings us fear and despair, but hope renews our faith in God and His plan for us.

So profound are your reflections on life.. One can understand and relate to in fleeting moments in time.. Your wonderful poem a true embodiment of the dualities of Life.. the duality of human nature, moments of weakness and strength.. good and evil.. beauty and ugliness.. despair and hope.. "an ageless gift forever new"! What a powerful and insightful line! You have amazingly said it all in the second stanza! Faith and Hope, along with very few true beautiful souls that render Life wonderful to lead! So much a pleasure and enlightenment to read your deep views on life, Victor! Thank you so much for sharing.. My deepest regards and blessings.

I sometimes feel the same, but it's best not to think that way because the outcome might be different. I usually am wrong. That I can count that God is always by my side.
