When imbalance of life churns hapless poignancy
And the zephyr of inequities breezes melancholy
Dissonance reverberates echoing pathos of grief
Seeking exaltation within metaphysical profundity
As hushed posture conjures up humbling catharsis,
Leaning in quietude, questing paranormal vitality,
Liberating from bounds of mundane, the ordinary,
Energizing calming bliss of unfamiliar, extrasensory.

Mortal soul steadily crosses limits of understanding
Reaching deep into unknown, unexplored territory,
Daring to search for knowledge in mystical obscurity
Pursuing enlightenment from supernatural intrigue,
Discovering newfound acuity blossoming internally
Adulating freedom of shedding narrow boundaries
Gaining divine wisdom, postulating own doctrines,
Comprehending missives in blissfulness of sagacity.

As laments mellow in teachings of superior intellect
And bawl of distraught soothes in heavenly solace
Finding ambrosial tranquility in endearing calmness,
Physiological longings amiably, peacefully dissipate
And gradually soul enlightens, unafraid of mortality,
Yearning for permanence of purposeful inviolability,
Meaningful beyond self, detaching from materiality,
Synchronizing harmoniously in idyllic, placid sanctity.

Without fuss the sand
castle greets the flood tide his
       reality changed;
the trade of ebb for the flow
as he lets go of the beach

Transcendence

A tent of brightly coloured wool
Along an effervescent pool
Filled with deliciously cool streams
This would last a week and I would surely weep
For in my sorrows, I made haste

Beneath a bleak sky adorned with clouds of thought
Menacing a downpour of grief
I left the bosom of my camp
And could not recall my steps
The fierce winds of the desert deleted my trail
As the winds of time would delete my memory from all that ever beheld me

The clouds of thought once again embraced my mind and etched on the bleak skies a certain name
A name sweeter than sweetness itself
With a velvety texture surpassing that of silk
A name that transcended the barren plains dancing around on the tongues of angels
And stretched to the bitter and sweet seas

It is a name unlike which any man has ever beheld
For though many share it
None could wear it with her grace, borne of the musk of paradise itself
A name that evokes images of beautiful pearls
One that sends shivers down my spine
When I envision her delicate visage
A name that spreads warmth from the core of my soul
Which slowly percolates through my being to the tip of my nose

This name can only be the perfectly sculpted form of -????? whose true beauty transcends that of meaningless words
A mellifluous name when uttered in any tone
It shimmers and shines and radiates brilliantly
Even upon the twisted tongue of the vilest crone

I remember the day when the winds of authority blew on our firm grasp
And whisked her away on the cursed back of an evil black horse
And it is with this heaviness that I thus sink
Into a pitiless lake of anguish

The distant mountain is ablaze
Sun rain clouds blend majesty

From my perch on the lookout hill
All land between is ocean

Clouds like white waves obscure the Earth
I bathe in that transcendence

Transcendence

In my desire of acknowledgment, I’m
not much different than a piece of paper;
Crumpled and wrinkled
No weight ‘n easy to eradicate
Without stain marching through the lane
In the battle of survival, recognition and fame
Raise and fall, fall and struggle
Blinded and half dead but passionate
I transcend from wood to ash
for the fulfillment with consummate skill.
But pursuing these useless needs ‘n desire of appraisal
I lost inside myself to find outside myself
In the desire of acknowledgment
I choose to transcend!

Premium Member I Wandered Weightless as a Feather: an after poem

after “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” (also sometimes called “Daffodils”) by William Wordsworth

I wandered weightless as a feather,
a muted plume from mourning dove.
A tuft afloat in breezy weather
connected now to skies above;
as long as winds will carry me
from over fields and out to sea.

My glad esprit more free than birds,
detached from mortal needs I fly,
where spirits long to share their words
among the songs in clouds, I sigh...
for Earth was never this composed,
this high I travel unopposed.

Oh cumulus, a meadow white,
I feel at home atop your waves
illuminant, in purest light.
Mid savored heights my mem’ry saves
inertia of the clover green
and shiver of the water’s sheen.

Such riches now I do enjoy
in solitude away from fray.
I'm free from living once so coy;
in spirits’ realm I long to stay,
for then, myself I will fulfill
with gild as gold as daffodil.

He, a seeker after Truth, set out
on an audacious journey
to see his old master

with a handful of blooms
he paused before the open door.

from deep meditation
the squatted figure, looked up.
in a trance, he saw the silhouette of a man.
on gazing intent, emerged distinct
his former disciple, left long ago

seeing his hands laden with flowers,
the master smiled a recognizing smile.
in close surveillance, the penetrating eyes
gauged him through and through.

the master’s pursed lips opened ajar.
from him, arose a single word-
    ‘’ Drop”
gentle but firm was its timbre.

he dropped the flowers, one by one.

in sterner voice, the master said,
     ‘’ Drop”

all at once, he let the remaining blooms
 go off his clasp
and down they fell around his feet.

folding empty hands, he stood,
waiting for the master’s behest

after an eerie silence,
once more came the hefty command--
     ‘’ Drop”

stupified, the disciple queried-
‘’ what more should I drop? “

eyes emitted sparks!

‘’ not the flowers, but your ego”-
instant was his reply.

a spear stuck deep into his self.
as by a whirl wind, his body tottered.
he felt a deep twirl inside.
unfastening the hinges
of the imperious shutters,
a boulder rolled down,
dropping to the ground with a thud.

back home, the disciple gleefully walked,
the clogged fog clearing from his head
ego shorn, here now reborn
in a state of divine transcendence
feeling as weightless as a feather

The dog's paw clawing on the linoleum,
Restless pacing while the kettle starts to
Activate steam. No, it's not a choir of a
Nimbus of gold, just the unmistakable,
Sudden realization that the sink is leaking
Cold tap water on a Monday morning -
Everything is heavy, until it isn't
Nobody told him that climbing out of
Despair felt like a wet, damp blanket
Eventually hung up to dry by the fire
Now, the prolonged static in the radio clears
        Cutting through the kitchen grease
Exposing the manner in which dust settles.

Sunset

Sunset
by Michael R. Burch

This poem is dedicated to my grandfather, George Edwin Hurt, who died April 4, 1998.

Between the prophecies of morning
and twilight’s revelations of wonder,
the sky is ripped asunder.

The moon lurks in the clouds,
waiting, as if to plunder
the dusk of its lilac iridescence,

and in the bright-tentacled sunset
we imagine a presence
full of the fury of lost innocence.

What we find within strange whorls of drifting flame,
brief patterns mauling winds deform and maim,
we recognize at once, but cannot name.

My Transcendence

It seems
on the roads net
between you and me
i know every stone, mark and feature
talking with them tet-a-tet
about you, my dear friend.

So often and so long
i run to you
in my dreams,
plans, fantasia
and others spiritual and physical
adventures.

But i am very rarely
could shortened distances
separated us.
In the last night so pity
i am awoke somewhere
in the mountain of Sistans
where our plane urgently landed
i don’t know for which reason,
in previous dream
i am journeyed within the filled bus
in company of our bearded pilgrims
going from Central Asia to Mecca,
so I planned to reach Saudi Arabia
and going through it, Red Sea and Indian ocean
make a great leap toward the Philippines.
Need to say
I almost reached my aim
but at last moment
lost myself somewhere
among thousand isles
slip away from boarding fishing boat
close to your town and home.

Sometime and somewhere
i stopped my trip
between Tabriz and Ispagan,
temted by shrine of Omar Hayam,
between Osh and Kokand,
looking for temple of Kudoyar Khan
between Cuala-Lunpur and Singapore,
trapped by memory of Lee Quan,
sometimes my way declined by Chinas Hainan
sometimes by Indian Taje-Mahal.

One time I am so strongly accelerated
into the war jet
with my desire and love,
that were flayed over
your green archipelago
toward the North pole.

It’s happened i am flied with swallows
to the south latitudes
migrated with heavy eagles,
and even flying with extinct
prehistoric giants pterosaurs
in the deep warm nights.
I learned exactly
the flying theory and practice.

Really I have right for title as one
who was born to hunt you.
But my problem is that
you are unreachable huntress,
as clearly witnessed you name
so i am doomed to search you
from the ancient beginning
till the end of the World and Time,
o my love from Philippines

With every creature and moving
currents, drifts and tendencies
existed or existing between us,

that is seem mine
truly nature and transcendence
going to you, my dream and excellence.

Time was in abundance,
In plenty to chew and brew,
Work, sleep or play,
Yet enough to spare.
Dreams, expectations, full of bounty,
No tick to stir the doughty,
Lifespan discarded as wasteful worry,
Hurry, worry, all went to burry,
I the Master, I the Supreme,
Others, the ordinary held little attention,
Times came and crept by,
Learning shirked away at mention.
Who cares? The motto was straight,
Something will happen, why haste?
We will surely learn as we grow
Grew we sure, but not to mature.
Suddenly, the uncared became all important,
Time was short, work too much,
With hunched shoulders I heaved a cry,
Mercy my lord! I the Ordinary.
Help! I shouted, but they laughed,
No solace, calm or sleep,
Fear, unknown induced the maddening,
The end seemed not so far.
Mercy, somehow was restored,
Zero, I learned to ask for,
Time, the ordinary, the industry & thrift,
I yearn to breathe the rest of my life.

Wondrously divine in its transcendence
God’s love* affirms kindness of providence
Radiating tender mercy’s resplendence
Defying any counter evidence….
My heart does claim with grateful confidence.

Marked by compassionate condescendence
Christ’s love is offered with heaven’s credence
Midst His sacrifice against impudence
Asserting biblical jurisprudence…
My faith accepts along praise-filled prudence.

Wrought with sovereign superintendence
The Lord’s love marches through grace-incidence
Redeeming those in sin-guilt despondence
Pardoning them from confessed decadence…
My soul receives midst earnest dependence.

Blest to grant everlasting residence
Saviour’s love gives hope of trust’s precedence
From hell’s eternal evil dissidence
Imputing righteousness with peace cadence…
My life owns against selfish diffidence.

*1John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

My heart will gladly express gratitude for yielding.
The day's fulfilments grasp an epilogue wielding.
At the point when my eyesight would rest placidly.
Distress is being waged elsewhere so abjectly.

Through the ambiguity, a sparkle of spirits is seen.
A tangle of a precious and scarce moment in sheen,
Dreams utterly become a strain whirl as they came.
Provide yourself the bestowal to snag first to blame!

At the staggering giddiness sequestered edge.
Guilt is the comeliness created in camouflage.
In a restrained tone, virtually similar to a mumbled way.
Who is still on the earth? On the suppleness quay.

He is cloaked in its utterly obvious vividness.
In other words, a resentful yearning to assess.
A regret outline abides an odd incredible sight.
Shards of ambiguous stone turn over the blight,

On a slender, silky thread, stashed above.
A spider spots out for a cursory meal to serve.
They mete their lives as not grasping one another.
Brief of jolting ascendancy in a peculiar picture,

Floating in lushness, short of cutouts, or broker insight.
As all worry fades, to propel and fulfill my gist plight.
In the loneliness of my spirit, I hunt the looming dawn.
All worldliness has been transcended, so it has drawn.

Transcendence

Winter strides past halcyon autumnal daze
On sweeping ariels of barren hues
Brittle bones of blue with fiery breath
Sun drench soul icicles marrow like nebula stars
When decrepit doldrums descend
As winter Daphne slowly returns
Her satin clusters, in chilled fragrance, bloom
Then flood lassitude with transcendence
To intoxicate icy vapors of wistful wandering.

Early harbinger ascends above the solstice
When vernal visions transcend hibernation
Dormant malaise and feeble sight,
Blurred by floating cataracts of blizzards,
From dark welkins raw melancholy’s cadence flutters
To glimpse enchantment in hindsight -
The sweet scent of butterflies and bees -
As Daphne coaxes a threadbare season
Into a blackberry winter of vernal vitality.

Blackberry winter is a synonym for spring.
Welkin is a synonym for sky.
I have two pots of winter Daphne by my front door. They bloom in January.
