To hunger for truth,
as lies feast on perception
sitting at the table with hope and desire
Where vanity is served in a cold glass of pride
until humility becomes drunk
and left to sleep undisturbed
To understand each portion served
is uncooked speculation,
that causes truth to become ill
as you cut away the difference
between right and wrong
To be obsessed by truth
is a thirst that can only be quenched
by its partaking and knowing its taste
the full body of its scent and flavor
It is not poured out of the bottle of maybe
that comes from the store of liars
that sell their wares of confusion
for their own purpose
If my obsession with truth
as I sit at this table is naive
let it be so
so that my soul may grow
from the nourishment of its purity

With no cover ups, let me be frank
At times my mind goes utterly blank.
When I sit down to write a poem
From topic to topic, my mind does roam
But nothing comes to spark off a rhyme
Often I feel the words do not chime
Today as I sat down to write something,
I ended up conjuring nothing.
No thoughts came to stir up my brain
And no topic I found- save my strain.
But I wasn’t ready to willfully give up
And waited impatient for my mind to clear up
I thought I shall settle with ‘Compassion’
But alas, it was charged with no passion.
The urge to write had grown into a fad
And I felt I was growing altogether mad
Feeling feverish with a compelling obsession
I was moving to a state of aggression
Driven by a fiery fancy to express
And a tormenting desire unable to suppress
With a mental state somewhat fierce
I climbed up and down the stairs.
I stood upside down and raked my head
So that a little poem, into it would be fed
Feeling dizzy, I stood suddenly upright
But on my head hung a heavy weight
I poured some water over my head
But knew my fever hadn’t fled
Madly pacing across the room
I tripped and fell down on a broom
Rising, I screamed with all my might
Making the household ring in fright.
‘What the hell is it?’ I did shout
And wriggled in pain as from gout
In mad frenzy, I ran round the house
No one knew the reason for my fuss
Soon it dawned on me that I needed some rest
For I was far more than stressed
So I sat down and closed my eyes
Thinking, attempting to squeeze out a poem is unwise.
I don’t know how long I sat in meditation
On waking up I got a fresh direction
From the grip of an entangling rigor
I restored my sanity and vigor
The sun had gone out of sight
And the moon was beautiful and bright
It was already growing late
And I put off my futile fight.
Our love will never die so abandon your soul,
We are on the threshold of unspoken sweetness;
So time to end this facade- my heart you have stole,
Bodies entangle and I am full of weakness.
We are on the threshold of unspoken sweetness,
Oh, we have only one life, let us not waste it;
Bodies entangle and I am full of weakness,
My love for you darling will never, ever quit.
Oh, we have only one life, let us not waste it,
I am obsessed with this sweet fate- I succumb;
My love for you darling will never, ever quit,
Although bittersweet without you I would be numb.
I am obsessed with this sweet fate- I succumb,
This dark love is frightening and unnatural;
Although bittersweet without you I would be numb,
Oh, love this deep, this intense is not rational.
This dark love is frightening and unnatural,
So time of end this facade- my heart you have stole;
Oh, love this deep, this intense is not rational,
Our love will never die so abandon your soul.

tap of nails, slide wood, pull drapes
stains loiter in round mug shapes
water sipped, books stack, words leap
hush wizened pages, neighbors sleep
journals, confessionals, down or up
old cartridge spills, pens horde in cup
shackled hands, lungs breathe, heart drums
an empty tissue box, lamp hums
Try, stay busy, must forget
One more read, she might regret
mordacious night, she wakes from sleep
her bursting thoughts alone must keep
pack nightstand, smooth trifle snags
slip his book in its carry-on bag
His words elicit songs in ear
from his masterpiece, held dear
open drawer, last book in pile
bottom of the heap, exiled
giving in, she dares to rest
his hard cover on her chest
remove jacket, ne’er oppress
dust off passion and caress
thumb his chapters, breathe him in
recite his name and notes again
too much cologne, too much sweat
open pages, fan her breast
She knows he does not write for her
emotions shatter, dreams endure
she scribbles margins in duress
between his lines, her discontent
the nightstand drawer hides her distress
she’s indexed under “o”, obsessed

Obsession was a song that got to me
reminding me of what I had gone through,
the first time feelings gushed as poetry!
Even though that song did not exactly
describe my circumstance, some parts rang true.
obsession was a song that got to me.
A rare and gorgeous butterfly was he -
that dark-eyed man who into my life flew
the first time feelings gushed as poetry!
I fell so hard and was too blind to see
the damage to my young heart he could do.
Obsession was a song that got to me.
I was a rose and he – a honey bee.
He came on strong. From me came something new -
the first time feelings gushed as poetry!
Although a scoundrel he turned out to be,
I love the song which still can make me blue.
Obsession was a song that got to me -
the first time feelings gushed as poetry!
“Obsession”
The lazy cat stretched full over me
filled the emptiness of a burning bed
my naked mind drifts in soft purrs velvet skinned
and morning feral my strings are plucked tightly, such a tease
drenched in early daylight, the awakening, the peeling away of the second skin,
starbursts dawn blinding as the burning light of the Sun rising within;
this magic jazz rolls Sunday morning all the way over
the book opens wide across talking limbs and tactile fingers caressing dreams
embedded in sex written white sheets, feels like riding love in open fields, such is the joy of sin,
next to holy communion it is next level, this wayward worshipping;
I lap it all up, the sound of being lost in a blazing blue heaven
tastes like sunbeams dancing in the arms of truth or dare Dandy Lions flirting,
they are pulling all my ebony strands in - words and thoughts - are silenced with a kiss,
the french talking of tongues, senses blown, all the way up, Ishtar's in sweet Babylon,
hands climbing the Jacob Ladder steps across a warm chest
full of dead and gone buried secrets where the heart beats
in unhurried ingénue time, and something like love always wins
read through Paradise’s unfathomable smiling blue-sky eyes
where flames are saviours like morse code twins.
The never-ending fall of a fantasy.
Obsession is the feline’s name;
Outside the Ocean calls Me,
Home
Candide Diderot. ‘26
Within the warmth of wandering words lies the breath of God
His blessing upon panegyrical pages that my pens have clawed
For inside each liberated letter a cerebral of celestial creation
With no beginning no end to its magnanimous manifestation
His words that spew out like relentless radiating rivers ranting
In the waking wisdom of sculpturesque seeds forever planting
But with the word like a hammer can boldly build and destroy
Let’s choose our thoughts well before we deliberatively deploy
Warrior writers work with God in their panoptical pensive play
To successfully spread His Love thru words in a Biblical bouquet
For all the poets that speak through Him, I will adoringly applaud
Confessions of obsessions writing words from the breath of God.

OBSESSION
Sponsored by: Silent One
My obsession.. like moth to a flame
This love for him will never cease
We've said, 'what will be, will be'
Dreams do die, but once
Their ashes tell truths
Always alive
In my soul
Breathing
Him
All I ever wanted
was to pass...
one night
or even just a moment
in your presence
in your light
delirious with delight
So just this night
or even this moment
Let it come to pass...
Let me hold you
Let me have you
All to myself
Please...
Shut us away
where no one can see
where no one can hear
all that I'm longing to reveal
Let me pass this moment
in passion's possession
in this continuous succession
of lovemaking's confession:
I want you
I've always wanted you,
so for one dawnless night
or even just for one eternal moment...
Let my life pass
in the tasting of longed for lips
in the trailing of my hands in your hair
my desire disrobed, bare
This I swear:
to you, nothing else can compare
Now tell me... tell me, do you dare?
My idol
My dream
My first wish
My last need
Listen to me...
Let caution subside,
and hindrances hide
Open... Open your arms wide,
and let me pass
this night
this moment
here in your arms
Hold me...
Love me, and I'll gladly pass from this world to the next
breath leaving body
as reality enacts fantasy
I'll pass...
Let me pass
My last moment in your arms
My heavy heart ever sighs for you
A syrupy silent smile, awaiting every move
Eyes nomadic, setting like a sunset on the edge of mars
Gazing… as if to focus on the rarest star
There is a sweetness that I crave to taste
A wild, foreign but trusting terrain
Feverish fingertips padding gently on rippling arms
Stroking the soft ancient bark of driving charms
Cape Horn’s stormy seas await our return
Crash your mind on my lands so lost, so burned
As flames lick my tear-blemished blood
The hot winds of fervor rattle my bones to mud
Keep your eyes set on the edge of the red dunes
Of which the mighty tempest runs free from doom
Into the lungs of pending exhalation,
You rest ever upon my endearing obsession
I've got a tropical obsession
I think I'm losing my mind
I want to see my work day done
Go out and have some fun
And leave the city life behind.
I love the roar of the ocean
The smell of tanning lotion
A secluded beach somewhere
There are coconuts in the trees
With a warm and gentle breeze
And a flower in your hair.
I've got a tropical obsession
It's driving me up a wall
I want the palm trees and the shore
Blue skies and so much more
Oh God! I want it all
There's an island in the sea
I can hear it calling me
Saying come on home today
I'll bring my old beach chair
Plant it in the sand somewhere
And that's where I'm going to stay
I've got a tropical obsession
And I just can't set it free
On an island remote
In a little fishing boat
Is where I want to be.
Obsession Issues
Obsession in Yukon
Obsession in The Bronx
Even got obsession from
Mr. Flaunt what he wants
All these obsession issues
Don’t got time on my mind
So I’m throwin them tissues
Yukon likes number six
so I told him he’s buggin'
runnin' far away from this
The Bronx wants my time
but I told him he’s losin’ it
Must of bumped his head
cause he’s outta his mind
Mr. Flaunt what he wants
likes what he sees….pure intimidation
off the east and west breeze
but I can’t do nothin’ with him
I was just havin’ fun hun….now believe
I’m feelin’ smothered can’t breathe
get me outta here…..please
Imma’ charm baby boys…..what don’t you see?
Guess you got me confused with those lil’ fast breeds
Well do yourself a favor
and clear the coast for me
Cause I need plenty of acres
Somebody call Johnny…
Then animate me on the S Blvd Beat
suntin nice and slow like Italy so sweet
I’m sorry you boys are lame
I need a challenge in my life….
So glad that it came sayin’
“Leo, take the limelight”
Right where I belong…
I’m not tryin’ to be wife
A lot to accomplish in so little time
Boys take the fast track…
That... you can reuse!
She might even help you with
your obsession issues.

I sing my thoughts a lullaby
And beg them to be still
Unruly children full of play
They go against my will
Another game of hide and seek
Each one appears by turn
Through hours of this endless night
Like candles, my thoughts burn
I sing my thoughts a lullaby
In hopes that they will sleep
Alas, when one is drifting off
The other makes a peep
I toss and turn the hours away
My thoughts all tumble too
I sing an endless lullaby
Each thought a dream of you
Now dawn has come and touched the sky
Pink hues replace the grey
My thoughts now sing a happy song
They know that they can stay
Each thought of you renewed in strength
Now dances through my day
At night another lullaby
While thoughts of you just play

Raging, inviting. Inscrutable ice
King Neptune's daughter, her moods are water
You won't dive into the same ocean twice
She'll make you think it's your net that has caught her
Catch and release is her patent device
Wives tales have brought her whales to the slaughter
You'll receive notice of your sacrifice
on paper she folds into boats at high tide
Each kiss that she blows grows to gale at shoreline
She weighs on the scale that you chose to define
She's the grate of the sand. She's the dock. She's the bank
She will wait on dry land and watch you walk the plank
In their wake, sharks leave trails with their fins in the brine
but the trident that pins you makes marks you can't find
and impaled, you give in to each heartbreaking tine
yet forget every time that you sank

OBSESSION OF SOAPS
obsessed with the daylight hours
specifically the graven-image afternoon
like high place dungeon towers
calgon’s commercial didn’t “take me away”
but a clever string of soaps did the trick
yes ~ for three “wholesome” hours every day
like following a clever treasure map
i lived for “all my children”
Such lovely drivel and maple sap
for health’s sake visited “general hospital”
after all, i have only “one life to live”
where i delved into the incredible and impossible:
clever tales, like candles in tunnels
where danger lurks, and romance,
with abundant pleasures, funnels
stories old as time itself ~
they were my sweet craving
on a lovely built in shelf
kept me sane until they drove me insane
a drip drip of sand through an hourglass
i envisioned myself with false teeth and a cane
only when my husband and kids
began to refer to them as “my soaps”
did i realize my life on the skids,
and like a potion i’d been pedaled
did i remove the suds from my eyes
in my lightbulb-brain, it was settled!
who wants to see a gravestone:
“HERE LIES MY SPOUSE WHO LIVED FOR HER SOAPS”
