It seemed like nature had concocted a singular miracle
As I sat on the wooden bench looking in towards the woodland.
A red maple tree stood tall surrounded by eucalyptus trees
While down below grew the yellow protea and acacia scrubland.

Sun filtered in between the green and red coloured full growing trees
Sending bright rays of light upon the lotus decorated lake,
Dragonflies flitted over flowers, as cicadas sang their song,
As a light south breeze ruffled the surface, what melodies they make.

Thus I sat amazed at the scenery so magical and bright,
Admiring all beauty God's creation that no man can design.
Meantime my daughter sat quietly next to me, mobile in hand,
Tapping messages away, heedless of the view as I did pine.

Here on the cusp of all things, is where I succumb
Ceding my stuff blindly, toward oblivion and none
Unwilling to persevere, without a modicum of fun
Listing in perpetual stasis, til the spasm’s undone

And yet a god may save me, or a talisman of love
Some prophet of euphoria, quelling ennui thereof
Placing good tidings, into a universal equation
Edifying eternity…..revealing its exact duration…..

Alas he speaks in riddles, and treads a mobius strip
Each cycle forming a twist, convoluting his trip
Determined I follow, my awareness in collapse
Narrow-mindedly stumbling into mortality traps

Now I sense the endgame, but decline to exalt
Its a distortion, an abortion, a cataclysmic fault
Chance meeting with a nihilist, yields positive results
Unable to see past zero, he reveals nothing but cults

Here on the cusp of all things, is where I begun
A contorted brain-f*ck, had no choice but to come
A demon of clarity, with an open ended measure
One who gives to please, but prefers taking pleasure

To believe for one moment, I’d live off a dying spark
Only denies potential, when again life goes dark
With more light to come, my sunglasses prepared
Eternity’s not polarised, just infinitely layered

If a blind man articulates, I’ve seen all this before
Screaming and convinced “I’m a seer at my core”
Could be he’s mistaken, or deluded with Déjà vu
Begs his final question, “do I have a point of view”?

I cannot stand your presence for another day,
You have ruined me in every possible way,
All this hidden pain inside was caused by you,
My tears were invisible, so you never knew.

You abused me daily with your uncaring words,
I ignored it and pretended like it was unheard,
You continued to prey on me without seeing,
That those words were hurting my every feeling.

I lived my life believing what you had said,
Your voice constantly echoing in my head,
I could not be myself because of you,
See the damage that you put me through.

Over the past few months something changed,
As my once sad thoughts were rearranged,
I have found friends who brighten up my days,
They have changed my life in so many ways.

My friends are encouraging me to just be,
I will never be like you, don't you see,
Now finally free my voice can be heard,
There is positivity coming from my every word.

Premium Member Oblivious To Love

She walks barefooted in a slit swing dress
on verdant grass; her hair a blaze of gold.
Light wind is teasing with a sweet caress
I look in envy, yet my tongue I hold
lurking in shadows, yearning to profess
my deep emotions, but I am not bold.
Her perfume hits me, wafting through the air.
Of my existence she is unaware.

An Oblivious Revelation

 U n c o n s c i o u s while the entire universe
fights against her reality,
she seems to have been MISTAKEN…
She makes all things decent worse,
holding an insensitive mentality,
while all her inhibitions have been TAKEN-
She carries on without contemplation,
forcing her into an oblivious revelation.
C o n t i n g e n t upon her choice to let go,
she reveals the reasons she was rejected-
Stoic and heedless, she craves CONCERN…
Preoccupied with loss she sinks below,
never feeling appreciated or connected.
For absorption of memories she does YEARN.
She craves the desire of a burning sensation,
Forcing her into an oblivious agitation.
N e g l i g e n t to life, she’s always distracted,
feeding off intellect while absent-minded-
Uncurious as to why she’s never felt LOVE…
She once found hope but she overreacted,
and always had to be kindly reminded,
that sometimes awareness comes from ABOVE.
She feels a rush of an inadvertent obliteration,
forcing her into an oblivious orientation.

I strut the lane of vagrancy
With breaths choking from evening’s plea,
As lampposts dip across the night
When love undone grates my delight;
Reflecting scenes... a cracked marquee.

Trapped in the void of emptied lea
A begging howls... my cries decree
For sparks to glow, to take new flight!
I strut the lane.

On narrow bends, I find no glee
Against clogged lamps, an eve’s debris
Oblivious to new morn’s rite…
While ravens croon with all their might,
This heart nailed bears dusk’s agony.
I strut the lane.

whims may become a blessing or a curse
pushing one toward certain ruin or worse
drinking from the deep well of evasion
well versed in dark practices of persuasion
fixating on dreams of what ought to be
avoiding what mirrors reality

totally free of social encumbrances
in spite of what the best assumption is
wandering through this life oblivious
hiding from anything too obvious
urge to be free of all expectation
jumped right into without hesitation

do not question need to swallow it whole
subtle art of self-induced mind control

Premium Member Oblivious To Our Flaws

We're feeling thoroughly swamped by
waves and waves of smiling faces.
And as the crowd breaks into cheers,
we proudly mark our paces.

With arms extended and knees bent,
facing forward, we barely blink.
And left-right-left-right-left, our boots
strike the pavement in perfect sync.

Left-left, left-right-left, drums the beat,
pulling our invisible strings.
And as friendly faces flash by,
we strut as if our feet had wings.

Precision moves, receive a roar,
of instant jubilant applause.
And we're feeling so empowered,
we're oblivious to our flaws.

They were speaking loudly.
Nothing could I hear.
Volumes are clear.
Chatter is around me,
Nothing could I hear.

Am I listening?

Premium Member Oblivious To a Hero

He sits in a corner
Motionless and still
Hiding from an enemy
Refusing to kill
Beaten and battered
Alone in this game
Afraid to show himself
For reasons like shame
Golden hair fibers
Resting on top
Oblivious to life
The voices won't stop
They walk and they run
They pay him no mind
While fighting off demons
That have plagued his mind
Torn are his clothes
Rotten are his teeth
Ribs for a stomach
Legs without meat
They mock
They make fun of
Not knowing his strength
If they knew what they tell him
They'd not call him weak
In an attempt to save others
He takes his own life
He stood there in silence
Not one stopped
Not one cried.

Chaff and the Vagabond

Loyalty brings even the fortified few to falter somnambulantly in succession
As if tranced to commit, their convictions are true yet skewed
The blind emotional outburst of bigotry and cynicism conveyed
Is but a microcosm of what pain these individuals likely feel
Something of an atrocity to be used and told when to kneel
Although the accused has seen duress they gladly contride the thoughts of madness itself
I feel that you deny me reproof yet I will not pity that which cannot choose
As sad as it seems to me I see I've held on to honesty gleaning
Were supposedly a friend you said having talks breaking bread
But now that I see that your truth is my lie I know time will determine the test that was cheated
The sad part I'll say and to my dismay is that there wasn't discussion, just conceded
Hope it's enjoyed, misconception eroded have the seat that keeps you yearning and teeted....

Oblivious Question

#“OBLIVIOS QUESTION”
Why do you because of corruption banish good governance from entering your passage?
Why do you choose to clad your mind with insincerity?
Why do you choose to lace your shoe with B.sc, B.agric, B.tech, HND, ND,NCE…and you still wear jacket of unemployment?
Why can we boast of 200000 armed personnel and our country cry over insecurity of lives?
Why do we claim to have the African best infantry and mubi residents are still restless?
Why do we have 6.3 billion youths that are educated and we cannot vote in the best crop of politicians?
There are answers to this rhetoric and even endless is the list
We should get it right
Yes we can get it right, only if you can believe in the potential living within you, I and your neighbor
We can get it right, if we can consult our inner mind for a good leader
We can get it right, if we can consolidate our plans by not giving in to toothless, cunning rogues of the political hell
We can get it right, if we can confront injustice and impunity which will hence restore peace to the land #

Premium Member Oblivious To Others

Your high opinion is all that matters
you think the rest of us are merely fools
High handedness leaves others in tatters
can’t you play fair and follow the set rules?
Harsh words and one’s self confidence shatters
we aren’t stupid so don’t treat us like mules!
I’ve seen your mistakes, what is it you fear?
No one is perfect, not even you dear!

As mauve of autumn waves her velvet cloak
Each treetop, each leaf upturns a glazed hue:
That between dusk and morn, the winds evoke
A heartbeat tempo of evening’s debut--
Oblivious to chills with beams on oak
Parading their grandeur , regal in view,
Then once again through October – brushed sky
Where Northern lights mindlessly fail to die !

On the seat of crowned head that bled for the dead
Sat another which the wrong road he tread and led
Then another and another and another
Till all crowned heads put the rest to bed!
