Premium Member Tribute To Linda Poet Destroyer a Potd

Ay Chihuahua what a hot enchilada

Beguiling in her Dallas Cowboys letterman jacket

Flicker starlight in her eyes angel in beauty

Raven waves of silk long hair

Will torture your soul for just a small taste of her

A girly girl born to embraces her femininity, but a free spirited mujer,

Burning the darkness riding her Unicorn

Through the calm majestic presence of the night

As music follows through the sky with a thirst of her poetry

A woman with lots of passion, sweet wishes, and wings for the night

Premium Member Pieces of Me

There is a piece of me, left in that little town, a square of friendly faces,
where furrowed brows of no one famous, work to make their dollars stretch
not far beneath the white crowned peaks ...

There is a piece of me, left in that old house, tall and proud
Beneath the sun in fields of green ...where horses ran...
A piece of me, still holds the reins and feels the wind against my skin ...

There is a piece of me, in that old school
Miss Marmalade.....(she had red hair), a voice of velvet, soft and sure
Her breathless verse of morning stars of Keats and Frost,
and unchecked tears...and clandestine trysts with old Shakespeare

There is a piece of me, reclining under the elms,
where a broken heart still casts a spell
A letterman jacket, of dark gold wool, his leather sleeves, steel blue eyes, ...
skies of love, and holding hands, football teams, and autumn leaves

There is a piece of me, that I still keep within my heart..
        .....within my sleep.......within my dreams

Who Is Your Neighbor

Once upon a time in a neighborhood of Orleans
there lived a Jon Terrell among voodoo queens
we neighbors thought him eccentric, sometimes rude
but he turned out a famous, pot smoking dude

When his chance finally came for the talent he had
He won Mork and Mindy and he wasn't half bad
from there he kept rising with his new name of gold
and Jay Thomas he'll keep through years growing old

but the funniest 'Lone Ranger' made Letterman smile
so click on this link and LOL for a while

Take the Moments

Take the moments,
add that time there was a lady
Walking up to the grocery store.

The balloon boy drama.
The mother and her baby strolling
Quite in their worlds, smiling.

Jonbenet Ramsey, Oprah,
David Letterman, OJ,
The Simpsons and the Family Guy.

When you woke up and saw your face
For the 6,000th morning in a row
And didn’t know it to celebrate.

The New Moon & Twilight events
The nails that keep growing longer
As we keep growing older, that nonsense.

Oh but we are clear about change
In hair color, toupee, and make up
Plastic on the nails, Veneer on the teeth.

Shakespeare’s seven stages of man
Just doing the same things, we
Are looking at each other, all.

Eating, passing through the living room
A thousandth time, although --
This moment comes only once.

Where Do They Go

WHERE DO THEY GO?

Warm summer day Sunday morning family outing
To church to give thanks for God's goodness
That old lady again sitting at the church entrance
All day she collects pennies from parishioners
And maybe a sandwich from a picnic left over
Tossed in a trash can with flies buzzing around
I toss her my sixty five cents small change from my back pocket.

I guess she’s there all day, but at day’s end where does she go?
Maybe a shared old mattress in a wrecked basement up for demolition
Or a shelter for the night run by the Salvation Army
Could be just in the grassy verge of a roadside parking area?
After all it is summer and the nights are not cold really.
Anyhow, it gets dark and she just disappears
Thank God - out of sight out of mind

In the darkness she can’t be seen any more
Makes no impact on my suburban mentality
Doesn’t disturb my late night tv with Letterman
And my nightcap of Johnny Walker before the hot milk and bed.
We chat before sleep my wife and I about the day
And forget the old lady at the church entrance.

She has no Letterman or Walker
No chat with a close one before sleep
A sleep perhaps disturbed by drug addicts stumbling over her in the dark
Or rousted by the cops for trespass, or frightened by stray dogs in a pack.
I can sleep easy, I did my bit with the sixty five cents in my back pocket.
Good night.

When I was small my mum used to ask where do the flies go in wintertime?
Just to puzzle and amuse me
Of course she didn’t explain that they don’t actually go anywhere
But the cold simply finishes off all those dirty nuisances
And makes the air clean and pleasant
After the summer plagued by those unwanted useless creatures.

School Girl Crush

I walk by you at school.
Hoping you think I'm cool.
Trying to not be a fool.
The beauty that runs through my mind.
Makes me think I'm blind.
Because I'm focused on one thing.
That's the daughter of a king.
Wanting to be the one to give you a ring.
But I'm just a weird guy that thinks I can sing.
I don't go down the wrong road.
I go down the long road.
Hoping someday you'll be mine.
Your the sun that shines.
I may not be perfection.
But I'll be your protection.
Just give me one chance.
And I'll take ya to a dance.
I'm a real man.
I don't play in a band.
But I live on land.
I'm a gentleman.
Without a letterman.
I may be known.
While I pick up the phone.
I'm not popular.
I own a dollar.
My niece is a toddler.
I'm on instagram.
Thinking about jelly jam.
I'm about to go to bed.
Don't bump your head.
It'll turn red.
Night
Don't start a fight.
That's not right.

Premium Member An Extraordinary Beauty Pageant

Our community is holding a beauty pageant
Which is not that uncommon, right?
But the difference is, this pageant ain't for girls
Hang on, try to picture this sight

To be eligible to enter our little competition
You must be breathing just a tad
But here's a thing that's just a little bit different
To enter you must possess great abs!

Fortunately I'm blessed with a body to die for
So the others won't stand a chance
When it comes to the evening gown competition
So stunning, a sure winner at a glance

The thrill and excitement just boggles my mind
The big networks will all be there
David Letterman will likely interview the winner
You'll be famous and known everywhere

Right on schedule, the alarm clock goes off
Ending my thrilling little adventure
As I get up, yawn, and stagger past my mirror
I flash my pearly white dentures!

Letterman

Letterman
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire

Write Letterman
One hundred lines
In your letter
Write it better
Word's wayward may miss their mark's
And disconnect our rooftop moment's.
Pick and nick at everything you have seen.
Writing plenty can be empty.
Love lost I cannot win you back
It's a ache it's a heartache.
Drowing for the word's but
Sorrow in our fairytales.
It's a ache it's a headache.
Pale dry lines and wet crying eyes.
Just me and blunt paper.

Write harder Letterman..
Write with your heart instead
Dress it up in paper and
Pen the memory's
Without regrets.

"Hey Rea
I fear future dreams about you
I have to be honest with you..
When we were ecstatic
In those lovely sunset day's.
Sitting atop the billboard
Looking down
At the growing neon city
Sipping coffee .. time buzzing by
The small people.
Running up and down
In locked street's.
Not knowing where
They going to ..
Not knowing where ..
They coming from.
All in quick paced hurry's.
The people and their pain's
My advantage of being with you"

Then thud ! suddenly..
Gracefully you left me behind
I can't write anymore ..
It was us..
Marry me a 100 times ?
I write on the billboard..
But.. sadly
Our line's abort.
Your life cut short
Hundred lines will not..
Bring you back.

Premium Member A Lone Ranger Mask

I'm feeling rather silly today

Not that that's so unusual

But I'm feeling even more silly than usual

Read on and methinks

You'll understand exactly what I mean

Have thoughts of what it would be like

To be a ravishing female

Rather than this hunk of male virility

That I am now

Of course I would be an absolute stunner

With a body to die for

Must stop... I'm getting all squirmy

How about if I became the ruler

Of a large African country and signed into law

That sex is officially permitted

In public places as long as you're wearing

A Lone Ranger mask

Oops! Methinks I may be stepping over the line

Alright, how about becoming a

Standup comedian with my own late night show

Now that's more up my alley

Good thing Leno and Letterman

Decided to call it quits

Guess they knew I was about to take over!

Perhaps I should go lie down a spell

A Bowl of Cereal On the Front Porch

sitting on the porch with a bowl of cookie crisp
reminiscing about the times when everything was cheap
sitting on the porch with a bowl of cap' n crunch
thinking about the times when one radio station was all you needed
sitting on the porch with a bowl of king vitamin
missing arcade rooms and backyard candy stores
sitting on the porch with a bowl of froot loops
wondering what happened to all the smiling colors
sitting on the porch with a bowl of frosted flakes
wanting to go to duff's after church on sunday
sitting on the porch with a bowl of apple jacks
thinking of gary gnu, muffy, grover, and letterman
sitting on the porch with a bowl of rice krispies
fiending for an early episode of the original muppet show
sitting on the porch with some crispy wheats 'n raisins
realizing i overdid it and i'm out of flav o rich

Let Me Sleep Until the Dawn

Now I lay beneath the covers, worldly thoughts I try to smother,
Sleep, a pleasure like no other, eyes are closed, I begin to yawn.
Pray to the Lord my soul to keep. Plump my pillow and snuggle deep,
Sigh and settle, welcome sleep. Mr. Sandman dream me a dream,
Show me a sight I've never seen, bring me visions to muse upon;
Let me sleep until the dawn.

It doesn't seem too much to ask, nightly sleep after daily tasks.
Let me sip from a soothing flask, no further need to carry on;
Tomorrow is another day -- another day to fight the fray,
Another day to harvest hay. Never mind the resolutions,
Problems having no solutions, the curtains of the day are drawn;
Want to sleep until the dawn.

Now, I begin to feel a twitch, a muscle spasm, now an itch.
I really hate to whine and b----, but this condition can't go on.
Turn on the light, read my book, squint, give the clock a second look,
Wonder how many pills I took. Covers rumpled, twisted, tangled,
I'm annoyed, nerves are jangled. Maybe, turn the radio on;
I need sleep before the dawn.

Think I'll go down and watch TV, something relaxing -- history,
maybe drama or mystery, don't want anything that's too long,
don't want to think or contemplate, would be nice just to vegetate,
If it's too slow I ruminate. Letterman is good for a laugh,
just in time for the second half. Shopping channel has got a con;
I can't believe I've got this on.

Hush sleepy papa don't you cry, sleep will come to you by and by,
Somebody sing a lullaby. Who's that singin’ that rockin’ song?
In the wee hours of the morning, thoughts arrive without a warning,
evil thoughts like hornets swarming, spoken by a voice inside me,
meant to weaken and deride me, I'm not worthy to carry on.
No time to sleep, here comes the dawn.

Premium Member Mr T Interviewed On Letterman

I'm a very impatient guy
I'm squeezing this little ball
It really makes me mad
My middle name is period, last name T

I'm a full-time bodyguard
Secretarial work is out
I look from this to the potential
Inventory of unrealised dreams

Intelligent mining
Intelligent transportation
The energy internet
Flexible electronics

Intelligent vehicle technology
Classical music with Johnny Greenwood
Canadian studies
Ric Flair's biography

We watch the international football
My Chinese brother-in-law
Gets excited when England's opposition
Have a chance to score

What's that about
I'm
Squeezing
This little ball

    ‘Fetterman’s the Betterman’

      ~ says David Letterman

The Deadly Seven

My father wandered in like he always did
wearing his pride like a decades old varsity Letterman jacket
too stuck on what used to be to realize that his life was just as crappy and cracked as the jacket
too proud to ask for help
so he just sat on his recliner all day, out of a job and out of shits to give
looking like a hairy motionless two-timing two-toed sloth
thirsting lustfully after the women he studied in his magazines
and quenching that thirst with bottle after bottle of Jack
you could almost hear the bottle crying out his confessions as he drank
"glug glug glut gluttony"
the smell of alcohol masked only by the stench of the envy he felt for his younger self
and yet at the same time amplified by the anger he had for growing old

My father, a class A stand up guy.
