Premium Member Today I Learn To Be a Widow, Lesson 1

lesson one

i wake up alone
for the first time
the silence is deafening

i want to get up
but every fiber in me
is dead weight

i want to call my mother
and ask her how a widow
gets out of bed in the morning
but i won’t do that to her
i will figure it out

i remember how yesterday
i had to run an errand
and the cool breeze
was a reassuring sensation
against my cheek
it felt much like a caress

so i coax myself to get up
and step out onto my balcony
but my body wants nothing to do with it
and won’t move

finally somehow i am up
yearning for that morning caress
i bundle up
to face the november chill
and there it is
around the corner
a sunkiss meets me
my first of many rendezvous

see you tomorrow sweetheart

i love you
you’re beautiful

I Learn To Live With the Silence

I learn to live
with the silence.
Thoughts echo
in the empty house.

I transform your room
into my space,
place
candles and shells
on the windowsill.
Your books are still
on the shelves –
old friends
who keep me
company
and speak of you.

A Blessing If You Would Learn

The heart when young, so blissful and knows no sin
the mind's ego knows no bounds, its strength within

The earth, sound and steep, its fruits the soul entice
the taste of spice great! to every slice a price

The eyes rain and the mouth would savour its pain
when dry is your land, sow no seed, reap no grain

Valiant steps fear no edge nor the burn of sands
wish die for the glory of walking God's Lands

Specks of dust make souls blind can turn lives to dust
just a spark of deep Faith heralds paths to trust

Ascend and observe, gems in you aim to earn
What seems as harm, a blessing if you would learn

God for you paves paths and lends many a hand
a deep well of Love granted to flood your land

Those warm drops of Love and Life, in time of birth
brought heaven under your feet, mothers of earth

Peace and joy in voice of heart to God raise praise
light in soul, a power with beauty would blaze

Brushes and pens paint and a language translate
the soul ebb and flow beyond language and state.

You Are Not a Starfish

Keep making progress
Learn from your losses
Embrace new challenges you'll face
You will always have options
God gave you two legs
So you would'nt be stuck like a starfish

Premium Member 12 Values a Child Should Learn

                       H o n e s t y,
                  because without it,
a child turns a blind eye to the truth.
                           H o n o r,
                   because without it,
  a child compromises his principles.
                        F a i r n e s s,
                   because without it,
a child has no concept of justice.
                      T o l e r a n c e,
                   because without it,
a child grows narrow of mind.
                        P a t i e n c e,
                   because without it,
a child loses grip on self-control.
                         R e s p e c t,
                   because without it,
       a child rebels against authority.
                      D i s c i p l i n e,
                   because without it,
        a child struggles to persevere.
                 S e l f - r e l i a n c e,
                  because without it,
a child becomes slave to dependency.
                        H u m i l i t y,
                  because without it,
          a child cultivates arrogance.
                         C h a r i t y
                   because without it,
a child falls prey to selfishness.
                     C o n f i d e n c e,
                    because without it,
                   a child turns inward.
                              L o v e,
                    because without it,
    a child cannot practice acceptance.

Notes On Dating a Latino: What You Don'T Learn In High School Spanish Class

One. Latino boys like Buffalo Wild Wings. It isn't clear why, but it's definitely emerging as a pattern.

Two. Latino boys are persistent. When he asks to kiss you for the first time, say no. Why? Because you've known him for a matter of weeks and he is not your boyfriend yet. Don't worry... he will continue to ask every week until you say yes.

Three. Latino boys are really good kissers.

Four. Latino boys love their family. His cousins are best friends, so you probably already know several of them. If any of his cousins also like you, you might think this is problematic. Your boyfriend will tell you that it's normal, and it's just because they're jealous, and not to worry about it. You will probably worry about it anyway. Sometimes it's better to let things go.

Five. Latino boys are romantic. He will tell you how he loves you in two languages and struggle to find an apt metaphor which he can pronounce in the English language. Since his English isn't perfect, he uses his hands to compensate when he speaks, uses a tilt of his head, a shift in his voice; he says most with his eyes, when he isn't speaking at all.

Six. Notice how he lights up when he smiles at you, like the sunrise... remember that the word for smile in Spanish is sonrisa.

Seven. When he offers to teach you the meringue, say yes. When you trip over each other's feet, laugh. When his face moves close to yours... kiss him.

Eight. When your racist father starts talking about socioeconomic classes, remind him that unlike your brother's American friends, your friends are sober. (Well, more sober. Do not bring up tequila. They're not potheads, at least.) Besides, your Spanish teacher is thrilled with your miraculous improvement in spoken Spanish.

Nine. When you go bowling with him and his cousins and he whispers in your ear that people are staring at us, tell him it's just because they're jealous that I have a boyfriend that will dance with me in public.

Ten. "Te amo" is a phrase that sounds prettiest when whispered.

Premium Member Learn To Dance

Got a party coming up
I need to learn some moves
so I listened to the all-time greats
for tips on how to groove.
These music legends from times past
should know the moves to use
but what they say is conflicting
and now I'm just confused.
Curtis Mayfield sang 'move on up'
Dobie Gray sang 'get on down'
but someone else says 'get on up'
can't argue with James Brown.
'Let your backbone slip' says Otis Redding
(he sat on the dock)
but last time that I tried that move
the darned thing went and locked.
Chubby Checker did the twist
but that just gives me gyp,
Van Halen reckon I should jump
more likely that I'll trip.
On second thoughts, I'll sit it out,
ignore the dance floor action.
If I take on all of this advice
I'll just end up in traction.
Some dancers are pure naturals
it's how their body's wired,
in my case it's much simpler-
I'm getting old.
And tired.

Premium Member F Is For Frustrate

Dedicated to Kyle, My Darling Son
Listen Kate, listen dear,
I have a new word for you to learn.
Tell your ears to clear and hear.

When you fight shoes and socks,
Throw them down with your eyes round,
It is like the night I dropped my bags,
Fell on my knees and broke my keys
Because they caught inside the lock.

You thought that I was mad,
But that is not the emotion I had
And mad is not the feeling you got
When you bunched up and threw your socks.

When things will not cooperate,
The word we should choose to use:
	~~	hold steady, get ready,
		The word I now state:
		FRUSTRATE ~~
Once is not enough, so again, my small mate:
A big, new word to be your friend:
	~~ FRUSTRATE ~~

Hey, hey, big word you now say.
Hey, hey, for you I have a clue
For your smart brain to learn and use.
Here we go, one more time is great:
	~~	FRUSTRATE
		FRUS sounds like hush,
		TRATE rhymes with Kate,
		FRUS, hush,
		TRATE, Kate,
		FRUS TRATE,
		Hush Kate ~~

So, when you cannot shut the gate,
Reach a plate, find crayons to create,
When you get six, but wanted eight,
When these things happen to you,

Remember then your new clue:
	~~	Hush Kate,
		Hush Kate,
		FRUS TRATE,
		FRUS TRATE ~~

After that, do not cry, do not yelp,
Just find someone who can give help.

Premium Member Never Learn

She caught me coming in again
In the wee hours of the morn
She began explaining the facts of life
That’s how my shirt got torn

But looking on the bright side
As she removed my grin
At least I understand now
Why she held that rolling pin

What a wonderful way to start the day
After staying out late at the bars
Is to start it off with a concussion
Being indoors and seeing stars

I said I was helping an old friend out
Give me the phone and I can prove it
She said sorry, I know your head hurts
Bring it over here and I’ll remove it

I thought to myself, she’s pretty mad
And I was feeling like a jerk
Starting today I’ll never come home at this time
I’ll wait until she goes to work.

Let Us Learn

She lives on the edge of town
she wears a second-hand smile and a faded gown,
She spreads the love around
but at night when she cries there's no lovin' sound:

She's got a lot to give
There's a whole lot of life that she has yet to live,
She wants to make them see
All the fools walk around, but so blindly:

Who is she to talk?
She still hasn't learned to gracefully walk,
She admits, she's got a lot to learn
and with every mistake, comes the after-burn:

They've got a lot to say
and the stones from their mouths bruise her everyday,
She feels a lot of hurt
No one can see her clearly through the dust and dirt:

The fault may be her own
by now she's built a fortress from those sticks and stones,
she's suffered broken bones
but what can soothe the pain when it's your heart, alone?

By now, she's flown away
like the birds she was waiting for a sunny day,
what have you left to say?
You all stood by and simply watched her colors start to fade:

She's now the setting sun
smell her sweet fragrance when the day is done,
She's not the only one
We were taught to stand strong
but we all learned to run.

Spiritual Meat

I use to stay hungry, would eat a healthy portion of meat. Still I felt incomplete, I was destined to repeat until I heard of Spiritual Meat.

Meat very good to eat, it's nourishment to the bones and can be a real treat even sweet. But there's another meat and it's role has a specified goal cause it's not only nourishment for the body it's food for the soul.

Spiritual Meat, builds character makes you complete. It also turns up the amps making you a Heavenly Lamp and releases you from your worldly prison camp. But if I so desire how do I acquire such a delicacy that's so much higher and completely discrete as Spiritual Meat.

First you must have a Spiritual thrust then be Spiritually nursed until your worldly thinking is reversed but in order for it to flow as smooth as silk you must start on Spiritual milk.

Then to make progress you must be willing to confess and let go of all the worldly mess. Only then will you gain access and know the meaning of true success. After you complete this wondrous feat you'll be ready to eat Spiritual Meat.

This is not success from climbing man's Earthly ladder which can turn you into the Mad hatter, for many lives this illusion has shattered because it takes away what really matters and has left countless people by the wayside, battered and tattered.

So grab your baby bottle, at first you may waddle but stay off the throttle and before you know it you'll become a roll model. Then your feet will be placed on solid concrete. Once you are weaned you'll become clean, even if you are a fiend because you'll know on who to lean. Only then will you be able to eat your Spiritual Meat.

Look, Listen, Learn

In order to discern, you must learn. To look, listen and learn.
Your worldly ways adjourn, don't be to stern.

Remove your shoes and socks, step out of the box for the
world you now live, is a paradox.

You may frown, you may feel you're about to drown, stand
firm and you'll abound for your feet will placed on Hallowed
Ground.

SO (be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to wrath the
beginning to walking a righteous path) (James 1:19)

And you can't go go what the world think, when it says
your work stink, keep doing your do and don't shrink
wink, you'll emerge in the pink.

Nor don't shlep, do it with pep and take it step by step
because you're The Good Lord's rep, Yep.

There's about to open an important door. Just who is
