Premium Member Thru Maritime Miles

Thru maritime miles of minions in motion
We hedge our opinions while pledging devotion
To serving the Captain and sharing our smiles
Through barrels of onions and flea-bearing trials

But even the pirates who pose in a rumble
Are learning the merits of those who are humble
The path of our choosing where sinning is pleasure
Is better for losing than winning a treasure

I plunged overboard when I soared off a plank
At the point of a sword and a sore lady's prank
The captain's first mate made her daddy agree
That my fate was a date with the fish in the sea

I knew she was baiting my body at brunch
To catch me in waiting and serve me for lunch
All pirates are worthy to fish and to feast
But no one should make me a dish for a beast

From well on the brink to a splash in the sink
I fell in a flash for a female fink
I knew she was watching me fall in the tank
And laughing discreetly with Daddy to thank

I should have resisted the words that she said
But when she persisted they went to my head
I told her I loved her but so did my mate
Who never returned from his very first date

It seems bloody retching but fatefully true
When somebody fetching is fatal for you
You flee from the danger but fractured you find
That pretty young stranger has captured your mind

You think she is true but you never can tell,
Her saltwater stew is a bitter farewell,
A mob in her keep is the poorest of help,
Who force you to leap in a forest of kelp,

Though mad as an adder I drifted from reach
To bob like a bladder in search of a beach
The Great White beside me was my willing host
To have me for dinner and eat me the most

Then something resembling a storm with a tail
Came surging at me in the form of a whale
I lost my composure and when I passed out
She tossed me all over to sit on her spout

Upon this brave lady who skirted the water
I fled for my life from the ship captain's daughter
She brought me to land on the girth of her blubber
To flip me ashore like a lousy landlubber

From deep in the sea to a seat by a seal
The freedom I keep is a cheap kind of deal
The beach that I sleep on is sunny and hot
So happy to be where my honey is not...

Premium Member No Snake In the Cake

When it comes to baking a cake
Make sure not to put in a snake
Unless, of course, it's a fake
By that, I mean, the snake

For if the snake's made out of plastic
You dare not feed it to anyone spastic
   Unless, of course, it's elastic
By that, I mean, the plastic

While if it's made out of rubber
It's a delicacy for a landlubber
   Unless, of course, it's flubber
By that, I mean, the rubber

Oh, and if it's made out of tin
It can only be eaten by Gunga Din
Unless, of course, it reeks of gin
By that, I mean, the tin

These instructions are not meant to confuse you
I just wrote them in order to amuse you
Unless, of course, I a-mused you
In which case, I hereby excuse you...
       G'bye! So long! (Gong!)

Premium Member Henrey Morgan a Storm On the Spanish Main

Henry Morgan is my name
Being a pirate is my fame

A landlubber wasn't for me
Fortunes were made at sea

From port and starboard cannons roar
Through Spanish ships cannonballs tore

Strike your colors or face our scorn
Cutlass and pikes will make you regret being born

Merchant ships we looted, plundered and sank
Prisoners were ransomed or walked the plank

Raiding West Indies settlements was fun
Loved the pieces of eight, wenches, and rum

The Governor shivered at night in bed
His King put a price on my head

Buccaneers way were over or face harm
Keep on and you will swing from the yardarm

Yo-Ho-Ho And Shiver Me Timbers

Shiver me timbers and loosen me limbers
I sail me sloop until it lin’ers
And drop anchor in t’ nearest lagoon
Bury me treasure chest full o’ doubloons
Then set off durin t’ next full moon

~

“Aarrr!” I’m happy go-lucky sea piratin Cap’n
With a short wooden leg and a limp, earrin’s, and rin’s on every fin’er
Metal silver hook for me left hand
Me cutlass, dagger, and dirk o’ me belt
Not a landlubber at all

~

Not a thin’ scares me that stand in my way
Especially when I’ve had a few grogs in me belly
Aye, I carry around me Ahoy! bucko Polly me parrot on me shoulder
That keeps me on t’ straight and narrow

~

They call me a barbaric and thief I don’t know why
A great insult t’ me, I just laugh into my handkerchief in disbelief

~

Don’t insult me temper because it gets carried away
Sarcasm, rudeness, and insults I cannot help
When swashbucklin’ scallywag get in me way

~

Me hearty weigh anchor
Or I’ll give ye a taste o’ walkin t’ plank
T’ Davy Jones’ Locker you will go and feed t’ fishes for mutinous
Dead men tell no tales!

~

Aye, aye, mates, pull anchor and set sail
I be Silver Hook a feared pirate that sails t’ seas

Premium Member The Blowhole Bully

Whale watching! Come on, let's go
There's no time to be a landlubber
Grab your oars and get ready to row
We're not after one for its blubber
Stay away from that blowhole bully
who likes to scream and preach
There she is now, a big fat tubber
She's blowing off, out of control
Yelling at another one on the beach
My goodness, she likes to scold!

Premium Member Setting Sail On Relation Ship

Though my landlubber legs quiver at the thought
I wish to set sail on the wild winds of Relation Ship.
This mime's gotta speak, this statue has to stretch.
The Water of Life has yet to reach these dry cracked lips.

This charade has to stop, life beckons at the top
of everything I wrote about... it stands in wait for my flag.
The storms are sure to come, along with boiling sun.
It seems we're always playing that endless game of freeze tag.

Frozen stiff waiting for someones touch to set you free
from a most awkward position... to break the cycle of monotony.
The wild winds of Relation Ship sure do beckon.
They'll come whether or not I step aboard, I reckon.

I wish to lay haggard in sweat and filth
from the days crazy obstacles. To say, "I made it through".
Tossing and turning on redwood planks,
without fear of smirks and ridicule.

To gaze at the vast array of stars
with pure unadulterated delight.
After a hard day of breaking ground with this Relation Ship
I believe I earned the right to say,
"Damn, what a sight!".

The Search To Find the Edge of the Ice

The Search to Find the Edge of the Ice

They say moss doesn't gather on a stone rolling, in motion,
And even wise algae gets left in the wake,
Of a proud ship, foresail dipped, rising upon an ocean,
Yet what of the movement of cold, blued, polar ice,
Where humanity has no known device,
That can truly assess each crevasse like a human eye,
Not wafting past, digitising from way up high,
But the eye picking out subtle changes,
The sense of touch, of feeling crumbling, matters much,
And no satellite can be quite right as the human nose,
Smelling fauna, or the stench of rotting, dead plants or fish,
For ice recedes its movement gathers stones,
But it reveals things, that satellites alone,
Can never bring to assess, without assumption in that process,
And so a legend of arctic exploration abandons long treks,
Or climbing mountains, and not due to getting older,
Indeed using boats for a landlubber is getting bolder,
Taking stock of the after shock,
The Northwest passage laid out, like a virgin on a wedding night,
Internally sobbing for the state our world is in,
For there was no ice, not even enough for a consoling gin,
The long march of humanity's future discontent,
Requires assessment, a global response to a new war cry,
Come Europe, Come China, Come India, Come America,
Come hear the cry of the Canadian northwest,
Of the fears of Greenland becoming a new forest,
Come Australasia, Russia too, come all countries, much to do,
For we must rise to assess the circumstance of the ice regress,
To prevent surprise, loss of our world's bequest,
And pushing forward the advance guard of this new challenge,
Is Sir David's team, the polar ocean phalanx,
Not sat around at home in comfy armchairs,
But doing something, going somewhere, to show we care,
Seeking to find and monitor and report back,
Crucial knowledge that currently we lack,
For how can we plan to avoid our worlds future sorrows,
If we do not make an effort to find out for our tomorrow,
Where exactly is the edge of the ice, which today no device,
Can show in a way that all of human kind can know,
Does the ice recede or simply ebb and flow,
Stand up, man up, pay up, support them,
Lets see them depart and sail,
To find this century’s holy grail,
The search to find ‘The Edge of the Ice’.

On the Veranda

Since I retired and after my jobs for the day
The list now completed and tools put away
I take time out just to sit in the shady spot,
To muster my thoughts and empty the coffeepot.
Whether it be morning, noon or night,
I sip my coffee let my mind take flight.
I sit and maybe write of things occurred.
To sit and do nothing sounds quite absurd.
My thoughts are allowed to meander along,
While the waterfall gurgles to a cicada's song.
It's a peaceful place just to sit and muse,
See the ships on the Med where people cruise.
Time spent on boats on the sea is not for me.
A landlubber I was born and always will be.
While I sit here reading, the sun catches my eyes,
It's time to go indoors when I start swatting flies.
So off to my computer with coffee I am set,
To write this all down before I forget.

Gibbering Jabbering Gibberish Haint No Recipe To Sound Glib

Ofttimes yours truly assiduously tries to adlib,
but blubbers like a landlubber
at sea treading water donned with bib
(that doubles as yellow
spongy bobbing life jacket)

furiously doing doggy paddle
riding the next tidal wave
hoop fully washing me ashore to crib
if need be to dig an underwater channel
painstakingly slow drabs and drib.

The English language I simply adore
though offtimes methinks waxing eloquent
affects listeners as yours truly a bore
in record time flapping waxed lips
beholds one gordian
tongue tied knot major chore,
whereby I wanna bolt out figurative door
feeling deplorable and stuck
analogous to Eeyore.

Ache 'n to launch into a monologue
or chime into ongoing dialogue
me noggin off times generates brain fog
mental state mimicking one,
who quaffed an over abundance of grog,
which for this teetotaler would constitute

a mere thimble full of drink,
perhaps rum enhanced eggnog
just one sip and boing I go
topsy turvy as if a felled log
hit me over the head
rendering me unconscious.

Thus wood explain mine altered state
though unsightly gash on pate
battle scar leveled playing field
with the missus, 't other significant primate
supplementing and complementing
one aging long haired

pencil (vane ya) necked geek
being caged, yet free
to roam within human zoo
both, (née all) of us captive
on carousel of time
nsync with every other *****sapien
begot to participate in circle game.

All superfluous joking aside,
I strive to groom conversation,
whereby uninterrupted flow of words
(versus fumfering, hemming, hawing,
stammering, stuttering...), thine

general oral feedback paradigmatic guide
ever diligent to think
before I speak with pride
else I heep discourtesy
upon myself and chide
yours truly with harsh rebukes,

which maybe tantamount
going off the mountainside
plummeting into the abyss
engenders an unpleasant
metaphoric roller coaster ride,

and if crash test dummy doth survive -
upon gibbet he will be tried
punishment broadcast world wide
for flagrant horrendous verbal
egregiousness (waywardness) he belied.

"really Bad Egg"

I “Go on Account” when I’m feeling dull,
Fly a Jolly Roger with crossbones and skull;

Become a “Freebooter” and Pillage and Loot,
Where I can do as I please, drink and shoot;

On most days a “Landlubber” I may be,
But now and then I’ve love of the Sea;

“Plundering Booty” in the “Sweet Trade”
“The Dance with Jack Ketch” I hope to evade

“Drivelswigger” usually applies to me,
Without books about pillaging, where would I be;

I might “Swallow the Anchor” when I’m ready to quit,
But not until plenty of sins I commit!
