Bugs bunny was the silliest hare with such a bright future ahead,
he wanted to give Lola something special, but he gave her a carrot instead.
He pondered on a different surprise, and wrote Lola a sweet love letter,
asking her to marry him, because of her his life was much better.
He proof read his proposal and realized he forgot one very special phrase,
so he clicked the caret button to insert a few sentiments then pressed save.
All he had hoped for was that he expressed his love with his honest words,
for he wanted to fill this day with rainbows with sweet songs from Tweety bird.
The day flew by and night time arrived, that silly wabbit was nervous,
he smelled her scent and watched her approach him, boy was he wordless!
“My Lola, from Pensacola, I give you this twenty four karat gold ring,
a three carat princess diamond placed gently above the gold and in between.
Marry me, my sweet, I'll sweep you off your feet, I'd love to play with your hair...."
She said yes, of course...and a few months later there was a family of baby hares.

Homophones used:

1. carrot-A vegetable
2. karat-weight of gold
3. carat-size of diamonds
4. caret-a symbol used to indicate the place in writing material which something
 is to be inserted.

1. Hare- a rabbit
2. Hair- a growth of filaments forming a coat over the scalp of a humans head

October is a pageant of color,
that celebrates the bounty of Summer.
Yet, Jack Frost, Autumn's gentleman caller,
opts to dance to a different drummer:
welcoming Winter as the newcomer.

Fall's a phantasmagorical season:
boasting a color extravaganza.
And Autumn's changing leaves are the reason
poets tout Nature's golden bonanza
of beauty: as a poetic stanza.

Scarlet and cerise ignite overnight:
as fairies set green canopies afire.
And although most songbirds have taken flight,
Fall offers so much beauty to admire:
Autumn colors never cease to inspire.

The air gets chilly; each breath crisp and clean:
underfoot, dry leaves make a crackling sound.
Crimson and orange leaves, shred Summer's green
into confetti that gets blown around
by brisk breezes, and scattered on the ground.

Premium Member The Bar Room Mirror Extravaganza

I was sitting at the bar
Cursing my absence of a lucky star
It had, for me, been an awful year
When much to my surprise
In the mirror before my eyes
Was a reflection that reflected rather *****

Sitting in the reflection on the stool
Where I was crying like a fool
Was a three-headed image of a beast
One head was just a child
One of a man who looked quite wild
The other didn’t resemble me in the very least

I actually put my hands on my own head
Feeling for the other two heads instead
When the reflection started to laugh and guffaw
I took a quick look around
But no one else there I found
Then turned back to this vision that I saw

It said, “We are all alone
I told the bartender to go home
So you and I could have a little talk”
I tried to get up off my chair
But my legs were no longer there
And I knew I had nowhere left to walk

The child head began to cry
The wild man plucked out his one good eye
The middle head just looked at me and winked
“You’re acting like a baby
You’ve gone blind and half-way crazy
Things aren’t as bad as you might think”

“Your troubles will not resolve any quicker
By drowning them in liquor
And these heads won’t merge back to one
Until you accept responsibility
For in the mirror what you see
And undo all the harm already done”

I knew the image was probably right
My self-loathing I must fight
The only one to blame sat on the stool
When I glanced back up in the mirror
The image there became much clearer
And once again it was the face I thought I knew

The bartender was back in place
Other people filled up the space
My legs were back where they belong
I wasn’t sure just what to feel
I figured what I saw must not be real
As I listened to the juke box play a song

The bartender said, “Your drinks are on the beast
And your troubles will not decrease
Until you face them one problem at a time”
That was the last drink I’ve ever had
And my life is no longer bad
At least, not as bad as in this rhyme

My inner child has been put to bed
Both good eyes are in my head
And for lucky stars I no longer cry and pray
I take the blame for things gone wrong
But fix each problem before too long
And embrace each and every coming day

Wordplay Extravaganza

I saw a little boy and two pretty girls play on the beach
He took a few back steps and caught the ball
But hit his butt on a pointed shell
And let loose his good catch
He lost out to the girls and sat brooding
They joked to help him by lightening his spirits
All of a sudden there was lightning and the girls ran to their cabin
Dragging the sulky boy as didn't buoy their spirits at all.

*boy/buoy, but/butt, lightening/lightning

In Fall's color extravaganza,
emerald treetops get set ablaze.
Nature harvests a gold bonanza;
at the end of Summer's shrinking days.

Emerald treetops get set ablaze,
and flames burn vermilion and cerise.
At the end of Summer's shrinking days,
green leaves morph into a golden fleece.

And flames burn vermilion and cerise,
highlighting the beauty of Autumn.
Green leaves morph into a golden fleece,
and trees get inked from top to bottom.

Highlighting the beauty of Autumn,
Nature harvests a gold bonanza.
And trees get inked from top to bottom
in Fall's color extravaganza.

Creative side suddenly began to flourish
With mom's home interioir design.
Now I foster it, fully embrace and nourish.
Goals with my actions are to be aligned.

Vivid colors, textures, shapes, patterns, and sly styles
I could have spent hours choosing window blinds.
Visit furnuture stores in radius of miles.
Came unnoticed in myself. Was I blind?

I am not prone to impulsive decisions
Today fell in love with furtinute piece.
I have a dream house and in which I envision
It. My unborn child would play with my niece.

House is not big but pragmatic yet elegant.
Three bedrooms, dining room, a vestibule.
My daughter rattles a lot, whistles, sometimes chants
Songs yet it is never a ridicule.

I am hoping my vision is not a kitsch.
On Sundays we don't visit nearby church.
I'm hoping to discover my magic mood switch.
Next to the house there's a forest of birch.

Another side of myself is somewhat nerdy.
Software, data structures, algorithms.
Plus one's ground underneath has got to be sturdy
Yet I dream of theater, rhythms and myths.

My muse was not with me when I was a student
When I possessed all the time in the world.
Now I work, I am an adult, so prudent.
Wish my creativity could be sold.

I like extreme comparison, enjoy grotesque.
Use them in emerging poem fables.
It's burlesque: I sit the day thrgouh at my work desk
Struggling to make sense of Excel tables.

I simply adore tight six syllable stanza
Through it's harder to bring the point across.
But it is compact and mere extravaganza!
It's mine therefore I have to bear this cross...

A GEORGIA EXTRAVAGANZA

In the lovely Peach State of Georgia
There lived a man of meager means
He had a worn out flannel shirt
And a nearly worn out pair of faded old blue jeans

He tended a huge peach orchard
For the richest man in town
Who strutted around like a king
Putting people down

The 'king' had a daughter fair of skin
And eyes of dazzling blue
He doted on her lavishly
She was highly spoiled, it's true

But Curtis, the lowly caretaker
Was smitten by her charm
He dreamed one day to walk with her
Hanging on his arm

Well, as the hand of fate would have its way
She was strolling among the peach trees
And noticed Curtis pulling weeds
Down on his hands and knees

She said in her sweetest Southern drawl
How would you like to be
The man to take me away from here
Somewhere across the sea

He said to her, Miss Martha
I've dreamed of that very thing
But I'm just an orchard tender
I can't even afford a ring

She laughed and said, look Curtis
If money is what you need
I can give you all you want
Due to my Papa's greed

We'll have us a honeymoon
Like nothing you've ever known
The quicker you pack up
The sooner we'll be gone

So Curtis dusted off his jeans and shirt
Bathed and slicked his hair
They took off for Paris
Oh my, what a pair

Well the rest of the story is yet to come
You'll just have to wait and see
How the two of them and their little brood
Care lovingly for each peach tree

They're living in Fort Valley, Georgia
The peach capital of the world
And now this little fairy tale
Has been fictitiously unfurled lol
