Best Down Payment Poems
Walk the beach with me today,
and hold my hand,
for I am lonely.
Smiles are expensive,
and I haven't enough money,
for the down payment.
By Dana Redricks
"For while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened [often weighed down, oppressed], not that we want to be unclothed [separated by death from the body], but to be clothed, so that what is mortal [the body] will be swallowed up by life [after the resurrection]. Now He who has made us and prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the [Holy] Spirit as a pledge [a guarantee, a down payment on the fulfillment of His promise]. So then, being always filled with good courage and confident hope, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]— we are [as I was saying] of good courage and confident hope, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore, whether we are at home [on earth] or away from home [and with Him], it is our [constant] ambition to be pleasing to Him. For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives—the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities].
Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord [and understand the importance of obedience and worship], we persuade people [to be reconciled to Him]. But we are plainly known to God [He knows everything about us]; and I hope that we are plainly known also in your consciences [your God-given discernment]." 2 Corinthians 5:4-11
I arise, a modern-day babe,
the Phoenix long gone and
dusted away--reborn, off the
Cross resurrected. Christ made
the full down-payment; deed
in man's name, will of our Gracious
Father ratified. Rejoice! Know
humanity's power and legacy...in this
New Year of our Lord, take
rightful dominion of a reconstituted self,
having cast off the old, revealing a glorious
redefined, elevated destiny united one
in God. Alone we are vulnerable --
incorporated, lock-step with The Son, our Divine
Brother Christ Jesus, we are unconquerable.
As that glittering ball falls, do not look
only up, nor sides~ but within and
beyond. A Sacred Heart is reality's indwelling
navigator and compass. Let this New Year be one
of refined risen Direction...peace and love throughout
the world...Creation made whole holy and
perfect as always intended. We celebrate together the Soul's
Ultimate victory!
In my perfect world let me ponder my thoughts
And tell you what should be, a world that's not fraught
To live side by side all colours and race
Before we implode and forever loose face
Protect all our children as they are our world's tomorrow
Appease their hurt and diminish their sorrows
Determine a sentence if your prepared to take life
Why should you live and leave others in strife
If the punishment declares that you live behind bars
Innocent animals are caged they never left any scars
Curtail the conglomerates who believe they are higher
Ceiling their profits and limit their acquire
Before they mine, deforest or drill
A down payment to be paid to compensate any spill
Health care to be made free for one and all
For those without Dollar why should they fall
To have to pay for a child knocked down by a car
It's a disgrace in our society that it's come this far
Schooling for all from kindergarten to graduation
Even University no pupil donation
If our country desires to prosper for it's future grow
Our working taxes should be suffice to allow it to flow
In all our cities, villages and towns
Keep our kids of the streets before they become clowns
For every population ratio, community centres to be built
By conglomerate profits that fester their guilt
Jobs to be created for many tasks to be met
Like coastal corrosion and border control to be set
There are many vast lands on our planet we call earth
So much space to be used, so deploy it for it's worth
Why can't we build pipelines bringing water to parched lands
Run by the government, creating jobs with these plans
Go down the green road using what nature creates
Wind farms and wave energy and become her soul mate
The above could all happen because we voted them in
If they don't do what they say, it's political sin
For my perfect world I have shared my thoughts
Please enjoy my words to your table I've brought
Walking Down To Death is a daily sorrowful walk into the darkness of life.
Where you loose all control.
The sidewalks seem to come alive to eat at your exterior as you hunt for your drug of choice.
This chase leaves you feeling worn and riddled with the demise of your self-worth and self- respect coming to a regretful end.
As a result of this never ending chase eating the bottom of your foot wear.
Loved ones then start succumbing to the appearance of self-dis figuration in their beautiful outward God given frame.
Walking down to death is a dark one that takes more and more from your spirit while inflicting aches and pains for the desired appetizer of the addiction.
What started off from innocence ended up becoming a down payment for your very soul.
Disguised in curiosity, trying to fit in with your friends, with the false belief that getting high was all in having fun.
Will-power has packed up and left you without saying goodbye.
It feels betrayed by your choices that led to demolish it's very existence and it's position to strengthen you.
No more of a party favor's for you as addiction strips you right down to the very core.
Your body aches for more and more and addiction continues to demand for more and more until it can't take from you anymore.
It's to addiction you loose your life and will be pronounced dead to your family and friends.
Your Walk Down to Death is now marked by the enemy as complete.
A precious life lost and gone forever to a tragic end.
He sports some eye shades plastered to his nose.
In coolest clothes; with cell phone goes to town.
Perpetual is his strategic pose.
His glasses don’t come off when sun comes down.
He scans a crowded room for someone hot
on which to use some cheesy pick-up line
and show the ladies what finesse he’s got.
Too bad he’s never heard of “wine and dine!”
And every measly buck spent on a dame
he sees as a down payment on her "assets".
Shallowness could be his middle name
since his character has so few facets.
He tells his bimbo prey his future’s bright,
but even she just sighs and says, “Yeah, right.”

In a few days, our country will pause and say, “Thanks, Lord”.
There are so many things for which I am thankful to God.
There is simply no end to the many people, circumstances, and experiences to which I have been privileged to be a part.
Nevertheless, time, space, and attention spans compel brevity.
There is a lady of a gentle, kind, and tender heart who’s to blame for my ability to take several trips by jumbo jets that I could not afford. Several years ago,
during both a season of joy and of grief, she was there for me and my wife. I am thinking of her with much gratitude this thanksgiving season. Her name is Sherry.
I am recalling a man who several years ago gifted me with a touch of his kindness and love. I shall never forget his eyes and spirit staring into mine, leaving me no doubt that he believed in me at a time when I was low. I was experiencing a dark place after surviving a storm of life on a raging sea. I’m thinking of one who became to me a beacon in the night. He’s a dear friend. His name is Ken.
There is a dear lady who on several occasions heaped compliments and praises upon me that I did not deserve. She always made me feel so very special. She passed on 14 months ago and resides in heaven now. She was indeed a dear lady. Her name was Joelen.
More than 25 years ago, I sought far and wide without success to secure a loan to purchase a home. Finally, an elderly gentleman stepped forward as an investor with the down payment. His action enabled my wife and me to become proud homeowners. He was a stranger who took a chance on us. We lost touch with him some time ago, but I’m thinking of him this Thanksgiving Season. His name is Gary.

Saw the advertisement of a sleazy Volkswagen
Surfed the net as the seed was sown
For anything based on german technology
I knew nothing about car mechanisms
Except the comfort of conveniences
Yet updated my limited knowledge
With its mileage, performance, safety
Saw the diesel and petrol options
Of the Vento sedan facelift images
And I struck the hammer for
An ivory Vento petrol run sedan
Thought it to be the most perfect gift
For my no demanding husband whose
Passion for good cars was no secret
But had never indulged in such luxury
It looked as chaste and modest
Yet powerful in making its presence felt as he
The plush ivory seat covers made me drool
The hatchback was a a luxury for holidaying
Car loans were enticing with festive offers
I had saved enough for the initial down payment
Before it reached home at the traffic lights
An illiterate rickshaw puller scoffing all rules
Squeezed his way between two cars
To leave a scar on the front door
The heart on a trapeze on highways with
Many more dents and bangs on tragic Indian roads
Fuming and fretting at every imbecile
Given a driving license without any lesson
The plush seats became uncomfortable
And the ass became sore
The generosity of an overwhelmed heart
Seemed not a very lucrative proposition
As every pay packet announced debits
With fewer coins on retail therapy
Alas! The years of stringent measures
Will die within a week with the end of the last debit
The Old Vento is finally ours, but wonder
Is it really ivory that I had bought six years ago?
Is it the same sedan whose facelift images that had lured me?
Or does it need a facelift?

ETERNAL GRATITUDE
(Dedicated to the memory of my parents*)
My beloved parents,
Humbly,
Before the altar of your memory, I kneel
Wishing this little “poem” of mine to offer
A down payment of my eternal gratitude
For bringing me to life
Undeniably difficult it is for me
All you have done for me, to name
So, only to a few of your actions, I will refer
Forgive me for having only that to say.
Worth mentioning, that you would agree,
Are the things both of you have shown:
Your heroism, your suffering, your selfless sacrifice
For up to bring the family and to keep all of us alive.
The nights, I remember vividly, you passed
Standing at my side, trying to help me as you could
When the threshold of death approached
Thrice, ready for the dark oblivion to fly.
Also, the days when both of you struggled valiantly
A slice of bread to find,
To feed all the six of us and to help us survive.
Your health, your youth, your leisure
Both of you, did, for us surrender
Leaving thus this ephemeral world
Just in your early forties.
Your anguish only to imagine I can
How we alone would survive
For all the six of us, children were
From three and up fifteen
Your souls are now aware
We orphans were by GOD adopted
Each has nothing anymore to fear
For are by Him protected.
In peace, let your souls rest
Close to our divine Father
For your children, children have
And they, in their turn, have children!

* I come from an impoverished family of eight. Two died when an infant and the other six survived and lived on four different continents: Europe, Asia, America, and Oceania, having children and grandchildren. Thus my mother’s wish to have many children, so they spread out and “Occupy” the whole world, has materialized for the most part! Thank GOD for granting my mother, her Wish! I have lived, studied, and taught in Canada for eighteen years. Members of my family live there, and they have children and grandchildren.
Count First
So you're too cool to finish up high school.
consider that no one will hire a fool.
Count first.
You might be fine with selling fries and burgers.
Take some classes, sell some bigger orders.
Count first.
Before you cut along the penciled line,
Get out your ruler, measure one more time--
Count first.
Before you cook your specialty times three
Make an ingredients inventory.
Count first.
You won't impress that pretty girl so fine
If you can't pay the bill for wine and dine.
Count first.
Before you finally pop the question,
Give her an honest evaluation.
Count first.
If you want a newly-wed apartment,
Think smaller--there is a big down payment.
Count first.
You covet a car with high performance.
Can you even afford car insurance?
Count first
Before buying a new high-tech gadget,
Is there enough in the household budget?
Count first.
When maneuvers are in the planning stage,
Before you commit to a shell barrage.
Count first.
Before overdoing your Santa Clause,
Can you pay the rent? Read the fine print clause..
Count first.
Before you walk up to the Pearly Gates,
What's on your conscience--ask before too late.
Count first.

Everyone talks about money laundering.
I often wondered what that meant.
So I found out from a good source, the internet.
There's alot of information on the subject, if you just search.
An example goes something like this..,
What if an elderly man had thousands in his bank account and some of those thousands disappeared during his relationship with a woman, who had a past for greediness and conning.
The old man's family then tried to find his missing money, they even went to the authorities for help, but to no avail.
The old man died and the greedy woman moved on. Time passed and soon a very suspicious transaction occured.
The greedy woman and her new husband purchases a piece of real estate, using all cash as a large down payment, for grins and giggles let's say around fifty thousand dollars.
The other suspicious part would be that the man and his wife created an LLC in one state and then made a purchase of the new real estate in a different state, using the LLC that they had created, for the use of said purchase of real estate.
The new real estate was soon sold after the purchase and the LLC was closed.
My question would then be-who in the world uses all cash, for a down payment? And then uses two different states to purchase and then resell the real estate, after just purchasing it. Seems like alot of trouble to go through to purchase a piece of real estate, if you ask me, but no ones asking me so I would have to think this is suspicious.
This could be one example to explain a way that a person would hide stolen money and attempt to wash it clean, I guess that's why it's called money laundering, and now we both know.
The Boat Of Us
'Twas a few years back, I remembered that,
When we had both placed our down payment checks,
At first we did not know which one, in fact,
We chose, then placed our personal effects,
They gave us our berth's, 'twas but side by side,
When we went fishing, our haul equaled both,
We filled our nets till we were satisfied,
Held separate jobs, together lost hope,
Long have we parted, until that storm hit,
My boat had adrift, could not make it start,
You came and towed us but the line had split,
I gave up my boat, got on yours was smart,
Home safe, next day, on the beach our boat sat,
'Twas a few years back, I remembered that.

A Redneck Wins the Lottery
By Elton Camp
A house trailer is the only place Rufus did live
For a house he never had down payment to give
One day, all that poverty disappeared in a flash
He won the state lottery and was rolling in cash
For the first time, he could have things his way
Since for anything we wanted he was able to pay
So Rufus rushed out and bought a suit of clothes
“Throw away these rags. I’ve no need of those.”
He went to a snooty restaurant for a fine meal
“Much better than McDonald’s it does feel.”
Rufus bought a mansion in an upscale place
For to live poor he now thought was a disgrace
And it made rich Rufus feel especially keen
When he bought a Cadillac stretch limousine
So a reminder of his former life wouldn’t lack,
He had a fifth-wheel trailer mounted to the back
His name is Mr. Phire,
but he insist you call him R. Syn
He's a torch for hire,
if you need something set ablaze,
something smoking
Make the right down payment;
and have a full gas can, flick foolproof plan
If you need five-alarm action ...
yeah, R. Syn is the best ashes delivery man
So, there is no need for a heartless heater;
the barrel cold, bullet indifference of a plastic gun
Mr. Phire is a passionate pyre thrill seeker,
he sure loves having some Fahrenheit funeral fun
When it comes to pyrotechnics,
he's the Spark Vader of demolition
There's nothing he can't destroy,
he'll scorch all of your competition
R. Syn for hire
be his fiery street cred calling card lit boast
Get in acetylene touch with him,
if you want something turned to burnt toast
But right now, he's presently indisposed
at an undisclosed penal facility
He's currently planning an accelerant daring escape caper
Waiting for a rookie guard to permit him
unsupervised use of contraband matches and toilet paper
What if the Lamb that was sacrificed,
decided not to pay the price?
What if they knew He was the only choice.
What if Jesus didn't move his voice?
What if they looked for the purest source to go,
what if they looked at Jesus and he said no...
What if He was born,
to a virgin one glad morn?
But what if then He changed the plan,
and choose not to save man;
Decided not to be beat down,
carry the cross or wear the crown?
Feel the nails burrow through past his skin.
What if Jesus didn't die for our sins...
What if there was no Calvary, no salvation for you or me?
What if there was no answer when we pray,
no comfort for us from day to day?
What if we had been created then just left alone,
no promise of paradise to call home?
What if there was no higher power to go to for help,
What if God said it's D. I. Y. do it yourself...
The thought of this should make you fall to your knees.
Make you rejoice and feel so relieved.
Cause when time came Gods son said "I'll Go".
They told Him what would happen and He said "yeah I know".
He foresaw being laughed at and beat.
The ones he was saving setting up his defeat.
Didn't say one single word.
As they marched Him and called Him things so absurd.
Lashed Him and made Him carry His cross.
They tried to break my savior for a debt I would cost.
Being spit on and nailed to a tree.
And when it happened He said "Father forgive them for me".
Think about it, and how it has you feelin.
Then multiply that by about 10 million.
That's just the down payment on the amount of praise you owe.
Can you afford to stop praising Him?
The answer is no.
