Star Trek and Captain Kirk's Final Frontier

Kirk: ‘Lt. Uhura, come to my quarters at 1800 hours’
Uhura: ‘Yes captain, might I ask what’s up?’
Kirk: ‘Nothing now but something WILL be at 1800 hours’
Bones: ‘Jim, is this a medical issue?’
Kirk: ‘You bet your ***** it is, Bones’
Sulu: ‘Captain, a Klingon ship is approaching’
Kirk: ‘Blast that sucker to smithereens, I got a date’
Chekov: ‘Captain, you’ll need protection on this mission’
Kirk: No problem Ensign, got a few here in my wallet’

Obi-Wan Kenobi: ‘May the force be with you’
Kirk:’ Thanks Obi, but you’re in the wrong contest’
Obi-Wan Kenobi: ‘This isn’t PD’s contest?’
Kirk: ‘HELL no, now SKAT will probably disqualify us’
Obi-Wan Kenobi: ‘Well, may the force be with you anyway’
Kirk: ‘Look Kenobi, nobody’s forcing ANYBODY here’

Spock: ‘Captain, I’m receiving a message from SKATfleet Command’
Kirk: ‘What Mr. Spock? And why do you always talk like that?’
Spock: ‘To qualify for the contest, the writer has to command the ship’
Kirk: ‘Damn it all! What the…FRONT AND CENTER WRITER!’
Writer: ‘Um…All hands on deck?...Anchors away?’

Uhura: ‘Ohh Captain KIRRK, it’s 1800 hours’…
Kirk: ‘Not now Uhura, I’m not in the mood!’
Uhura: Ohh Captain WRITERRR, it’s 1800 hours’…
Writer: ‘Kirk, you have the helm. I’ll be in my quarters’
Spock: ‘Fascinating’
Kirk: ‘Shut-up Spock’…

SLY FOX - Dramatic verse, Epic and Deep.
Dramatic verse? How surprising coming from the SLY FOX Drama Queen.
Epic and deep? Well, excuse me
but you have me confused with somebody else entirely.
I'm about as deep as PD's so called poetry.
So listen good and listen hard to me my little SLY FOX Drama Queen pretty.
Go stick your SLY FOX head on the body of a donkey
so that all who then see you will truly see you as
what you truly are. A Royal Pain In The Ass!
Yeah, again I know this isn't the correct form
Feel free to disqualify me.
I just happened to be rambling along
and thought I'd stop for a quick slam on PD.

This isn't for PD's contest,
but I'm entering it anyway because I'm her nemesis and pest.

I Am a Slave

My ancestors had years of struggle
Trying to blend into their masters ideas
And to secure a slot in masters good books
They fought hard to disown who they are
Just to prove themselves worthy
Of their masters colonizing philosophy

I, at the receiving end
I’m battling to reconcile
My ancestor’s conformity
Because I have nothing I can call it my own
They gave it all away in exchange for civilization
Or the master took everything using the same context

My master preached civilization
As a tool to liberate a black child
Our ancestors bought into their ideas
Unknowingly they sold our souls
Like the word peddlers of old
Who come to people wearing sheep skins
Yet they are dangerous wolves

They preached cultural exchange
Yet they did nothing to learn our culture
After all the years I’ve been with my master
He still can’t pronounce my name
Pity for him
I don’t have a religious names

I’ve seen people die because of their lingo
Others perish because of how they look
Many vanished in experiments executed by the master
Skulls are still held captive in our master’s castle
Far away from motherland
Namibians I feel your pain

Hundred years passed since the First World War
We still suffer at the hands of the master
My speech
My food
My tradeoff abilities
All is measured against my master’s way of life
I will never raise above my master
He’s a custodian of western life

The work I do is nothing
If the master does not approve
Even if multitude node with approval

My talent may be up there
Amongst the best in the world
But all that is futile
If the master turns a blind eye
As if my life don’t matter
Sarina give thanks to the all mighty
For you kept on shining till this day

The texture of my skin does not disqualify
The fact that I’m a human being too
I want to believe I’m free
But I still feel, I am a slave

Fables of Reflections

And we became the layer of voices
With engineered precision ripples
And auto-tuned echoes

And though many who bow blindly
In the sanctuaries of their own belief system
Would sometimes rationally scrutinize
And disqualify the sacraments of others

Truth would always appear obvious
On fables rather than reflections

Premium Member Vagaries In Judging

Judging contests is unpredictable,
I get poems both lovely and quirky;
to disqualify is miserable,
sometimes, finding the contest theme- murky !

First, I evaluate for requirement,
dated, no names on poems and the such;
written creative or in alignment,
and does the poem when read- my heart touch !

Assessing and rating is very hard,
I must check the rules for the form chosen;
oh, which poem will be one, two or third,
does multi wins mean a rule is broken !

Never critical of a poets write;
I want to share not to put out a light !

Paternal Misgivings Linger

Though thine two grown
     former babes in crib age,
now lead checkered lives,
     no longer monopolize my time

as though their persons went backstage
either one embracing, judging,
     and negotiating positive
     chutes and ladders with courage

evoking glee this papa
     helped both beautiful lasses
     avoid being risk averse
     navigating life with minimal damage

though to get ahead of the class,
     (asper the eldest Eden Liat)
credit karma fairly and squarely attributed
     to herself with encourage

meant from this papa, who oft time
     felt he lacked any clue
akin to a hobbled battleship left
     to drift at sea, whence,

     upon landfall sub
     sequent lee forced to forage
in a foreign dominion (akin to being
     among Settlers of Catan),

plus devoid of instruments to gauge,
     an optimal strategic operation,
thus figuratively groping in the dark
     (unaware of a brewing twister)

     guided by blind faith
doth admit saying sorry,
     but apologetic homage
     would disqualify thyself,

     a "FAKE" mastermind
     undeserving of just desserts,
unfairly via diktat plucking sweet treats
     awash within Candy Land,

     a deceptive image
entrancing, luring and, spellbinding
     ultimately incurring trouble,
particularly when Shana Aubrey

     (younger by about
     twenty six months)
garnered lion's share of parental attention
     necessitated mandatory intervention

      due to language
skills, plus pronounced
     developmental delay,
     where supreme social service

     sages gentle massage
wrought divine prestidigitation
     as one after another
     case worker did overencourage

to counteract congenital
     cognitive setback (coalesced in utero),
now finds das dada envious
    (cuz, aye got mired, hogtied,

     and bogged down with
    obsessive compulsive trivial pursuit,
hence warrant so lucky as thee Punim)

     steers ship shape body electric
     round her uncharted cerebral
     cape of good hope passage.

marble structured game-board;
deep thrombosis veins -
of deceit witted paths;
beckoning its challenger

pre-meditated strategy;
an absolute must in-
cluded trust to move

jagged-edged curses bite
on frayed nerve endings;
encouragement to beginnings,
continuous quality checks

A Child Is a Terrible Thing To Waste

it's so important to encourage our youth and let them know that we care
for it's a terrible thing to waste a child especially one that you reared
our children are our future, they're our living legacy
so be careful how you raise them up from their infancy

a child is a terrible thing to waste and this God understands
for the children are the continuous message for the foundation of modern man
so bring them before the Lord and tell them Jesus Christ is their Savior
love them, praise them and be circumspect especially with your own behavior
let them know that Jesus died so that they could have strength, faith and hope
let them know that His sacrifice will give them the means to cope
yet there are parents who raise their children by only providing material things
but the material things of this world will not cover everything
the only thing that a child can hold on to is love, hope and faith
so introduce them to the Lord Jesus Christ before it's too late

in the Bible some leaders in the church
of the children they seemed to discourage
but to be a true disciple of Christ
the Holy Spirit in them you should encourage
are you one who pushes a child towards greatness and their true destiny?
or are you a hindrance in a child's life denying them God's ministry?
the church should be a place of comfort, of prayer and a haven of peace
so don't push them out into the world where they'll become products of the street
where dreams are shattered, hope is crushed and belief is a liability
for it's a terrible thing to waste a child, the core of mankind's continuity

so call to remembrance the roots of faith that have always upheld your family tree
pass the baton of hope and belief onto your future progeny
don't disqualify them from the race in this journey we call life
equip them with the necessary tools
they'll need to become servants of the Lord Christ
open the doors to their hearts and put a spark in them
teach them the ways of Christ for it will sustain them in the end
it's a terrible thing to waste a child so give them love, support and concern
raise them up in the ways of God and to the streets they will never turn

Premium Member What Lies Beneath the Lies

Though man can speak a language filled with truth
The words and deeds from man can be a lie
These liar's lips are formed in days of youth
When they try and hide to disqualify
In every frightened moment lies return
Claim a righteous reason to fill their need
Whether pain is caused is of no concern
It's their bane of existence to mislead
A lie will steal your honor formed at birth
It is a gift that's given not to lose
To hold tight, know its value and its worth
Honor is only lost, for you to chose

What lies beneath the lies of liar's lips?
A conscience lacking nor its ownership

Why

Why this world smiles?
When it laughs from behind
Showing respect and shaking hand
Making an effort to be nice
And finally deceiving
Why this world offers help?
When it is not an admirer and
Does the work
And a support that it gives
And then it dupes
Why this world treats well?
When it knows it can reject
And disqualify the best
Why this world is beautiful?
When it is very old and huge
For many things it consists of
Why this world respects?
When it always argues
For it can only mock
Why this world shines?
When it experiences the dark
For the destruction and war that never stops
Why this world is good?
When it always highlights the bad and
Never finds and rewards the good.
Why the world so it is?
When it knows so many people die
of starvation and it never stops completely
the dearth and eradicates poverty
Why the world is termed as modern?
When there is selfishness and segregation to
remain separated.

A Circle of Souls

A circle of souls
Likeminded ladies
Invisible rules
Disqualify me

I’m somewhere in space
Floating alone
Holding a steady pace
Look how I’ve grown

I didn’t need her
Nope, not her either
The pot, they stir
I’m an obstacle beater

It doesn’t matter
At the end of the day
They’re getting fatter
At lunch and lattes

I hustle on
They chit chat
Soon I’ll be gone
No looking back

My Dark Skin

my dark skin
does it mean a crime
does it identity a criminal
does it mean am below you
yes you
who just see nothing else but
my dark skin

my dark skin
does it make you fear
does it upset you
does it create a hatred in you
does it mean am not human
does it mean I have no right
does it mean trouble
does it make you worry
yes you who see nothing but just
my dark skin

my dark skin
is it forbidden
does it mean I don't exist
does it quality failure
does it close my origin
does it disqualify my personality
does it disprove my value
to humanity
actually it points to love
yes it does to you
that only see nothing but
my dark skin

Premium Member The Convention

I attended the Poetry Soup convention soley to enter a contest.
Seated with me at my table were three guests at my request.
This will most likely disqualify me
because two of the soupers at my table seated with me
wished to attend anonymously
and I can not betray their trust in me,
but they seated at my table, if you all must know
were theKidster, SillyBilly, Michael J. Falotico, plus two other soupers all of you know.
