Remember me through poetry
For poesy's my legacy
Poems for you I leave behind
Engage your heart, your soul and mind
Remember me, when the wind laughs
For there, I've left my autographs
When the zephyr tickles your cheek
Memories will flow, hear me speak
Remember me, when seasons shift
In recollections, catch my drift
When Summer turns to Winter pale
I'll be there in the stormy gale
Remember me, when music flows
A part of life in highs and lows
I am the unsung song you hear
That timid voice, now loud and clear
Remember me, when sunrays dance
Don't forget me, give me a glance
I'm the light in dappled shadows
The sparkle in sunlit meadows
Remember me, when the rain pours
In the drizzle, I am all yours
Catch me in reminiscences
I've crossed the murky distances
Remember me, when flowers bloom
When their aroma fills the room
I'm alive in each open bud
I'm the crimson rose's lifeblood
Remember me in silent nights
When darkness overcomes the lights
I'm the shine of the farthest star
The moonbeams prancing from afar
Remember me, forget me not
I am the story and the plot
In every twist of your old book
I am hidden, just take a look
In every word that you spell out
I'm the whisper, no need to shout
People will say, "Just leave her be"
But I tell you, "Remember me".
waiting
with diaper on
for this woman to get up
off the kitchen floor and
stop bleeding while a man
hovers over her with grimace
and clinched fist
waiting
for our first-grade teacher
to stop crying
over the P.A. announcement
that the president
has just been assassinated
in Dallas
waiting
on the spirit of Christmas
to return days after the news
that mother's favorite song "You Send Me"
had just been shot and killed
a few blocks from our home
waiting
in the backseat of a Packard
for the policeman to stop screaming
at my father as urban soldiers
toss fire from their hands
in our neighborhood just outside of Watts
waiting
at LAX for Wilt the Stilt
to come back and finish
signing autographs after
some idiot just called him a freak
waiting
for the bowtie and scowl
to let go of my arm so I
can shake the hand of
the Greatest of All Time
as he starts his comeback
with an exhibition bout
in East Los Angeles
waiting
with eighteen-year-old trembling knees
for that sheriff deputy
to remove his pump action shotgun
from my temple
waiting
in the delivery room
for the wrong woman
to have my child
waiting
at a motel
for the right woman
to find the time
to slip away
waiting
on the side of
the ninety-one freeway
for a motorcade to pass
shortly after the funeral
of a former president
shamed by the Watergate scandal
waiting
and looking
while holding onto
the entry gate at 875 S. Bundy Dr.
for some sign of what really
happened that night
waiting
along with F.E.M.A. and the Red Cross
for the distraught woman
to come with us to safety
days after the Northridge earthquake
leveled her million-dollar home
waiting
at the hospital
for my first grandchild
to be born while her father
who's been convicted of battery
is nowhere to be found
waiting, waiting
seems like I'm always
waiting
MORNING DELIGHT
In one clasps of our hands
Suddenly the murmurings
Are becoming warm and intense
As boldness left behind dumbness
As together now we sing melodious
Songs, caressing. kissing, and playfully dance
Till the wee hours which greatly inspired us.
Even the dawning sun it seems
It was kept at bay
And the stars twinkling and clapping
Witnessing how sweet we have shared
A blissful contrast of a newlyweds honeymooning
A balikbayan to waiting gentle hand
Though jittery they stood together to a
morning glory!
Now, shall we let it go
Vis a vis the doldrums
Of yesteryears which we didn't denied
After the high school years
Autographs, roses and chocolates
Were fads of the late 60's yet to a funny fan
Bestows to a man's erudite love for poetry.
The more it comes straight from the hearts
The constancy of exchange writings of messages and poems
Have become part of life's spontaneity
Even at the middle of the night, we are awaken
Laptops connected, phone conversation
Every little sweet words reverberating through!

My Shoe Collection
Shoes
Nice if you have them
Shoes
There is love
There is happiness
When the next path of your journey
You take with shoes on your feet
Shoes
I am coming out of the closet
I am not a woman
But I do have too many shoes
Shoes
Love and relationships
Why there are a lot like a pair of shoes
At times, things may stink and smell
Yet still better as a pair
Shoes
If I could walk a mile
In everyman’s shoes
I could walk forever
Never having to buy my own
Red Shoes
The Red Socks
Will never win
Without good running shoes
Blue Shoes
If only I had blue shoes
Of suede
Id be dancing with you
After the autographs
Shoes
Homeless people wish for shoes
Millionaires wish for closets
Big Shoes
My feet are so big
Ladies buy me my shoes
Shoe Sale
The man with one leg
Looks for shoe sales
At half off
The Hookers Shoes
A good hooker
Never has used shoes
Academy a Wards
Winners and losers
All complain about their shoes
Petty and jealous, the famously inane
Their shoes show their vain
Shoe Diversity
They come in many fashions
In shoes there is humanities design
We all walk the path of human strife
All Shoes matter
Celtic Shoes
Irish Shoes
Scottish shoes
Welsh shoes
All meet at the pub
So their feet can have a rest
While the mouths imbibe with chatter
If all goes well
Later on
The shoes fall off in a clatter
Miami Vice
Got the finest shoes from Miami
Found out they were fakes
Tongues were bent and crooked
Must have come from crocodile skinned tears
Mocking the homeless with no shoes over the years
The Great Canadian Shoe Trapper
The trapper goes for beaver pelts
The millionaire goes for shoes of felt
Armani makes it all the way
Only when the consumer comes out to play
The Shoeless Argentine
If you wish to invade the Falkland’s
Remember to bring your shoes
Cause your dictator has all your money
He cares not if you really lose
It's used as an afterthought, fattening festive
arrangements for Mother's Day, Easter,
someone's birthday. An underrated vine,
enhancing center-stage flowers whose star-power
doesn't wear well. It's the "coming attraction"
that's there after the clapping dies down,
replanted by doorstep or gravestone. "Grow,"
I say, "Change my life with your traveling beauty,
your common denominator, your scrawling
signature seldom sought for autographs.
Snaking around graves at our family plot,
it's an ongoing gift, out-giving the giver
with its "overwhelming darkness", reminding us
where there is life, there is also death. Surviving,
thriving in hanging pots the less hardy exit,
it surprises and delights, reaching down from limbs
of trees for soil, unchallenged there in pine straw
until tender tendrils insinuate their way
to daylight through tapestries of needles
When the ivy becomes dense, I will know
you are there: ivy of my heart, ivy of essence,
the graceful way it swings and sways, how
it takes to new habitat in the way you, Julie,
cut a swath through New York City after lifetimes
in the easy South. We are old souls, older
than the hedera, cousin to ginseng, reminder
of the movement of the heavens, the ability
to bring things together. You were shelter,
the poets' headpiece, bringing peace
to my household. Resurrection and rebirth,
Julie, in this Easter of ivy.
The Lying Tongue
sang a song
The Flattering Tongue
played along
The Know It All Tongue
intended the composition
The Meddling Tongue
held it's position
The Harsh Tongue
kept quiet for once
The Tactless Tongue
reluctantly obliged
The Rude Tongue
got annoyed
The Loquatious Tongue
was soon overjoyed
The Discouraging Tongue
hummed on
The Self-Depreciating Tongue
became withdrawn
The Argumentative Tongue
thought it all wrong
The Boasting Tongue
thought it right on
The Hasty Tongue
felt it was contrite
The Discouraging Tongue
and all this singing
The Indiscreet Tongue's
awkward whistling
The Complaining Tongue's
plodding drone
The Cursing Tongue
let out a no-no moan
The Judgemental Tongue
liked that a lot
The Self-Absorbed Tongue
rolled it's eyes
The Retaliating Tongue
held out a hat
The Intimadating Tongue
offered a prize
The Cynical Tongue
just laughed
The Accusing Tongue
choreographed
The Gossiping Tongue
signed autographs
The Doughting Tongue
crooned the refrain
The Accusing tongue
blasted the blame
The Hasty Tongue
fanned the flames
So the Belittling Tongue
dismissed the party
The Devisive Tongue
composed the ending
And the Silent Tongue
looked on.
* All tongues borrowed from
Disco dreams and disco balls
Big city,bright lights
Pub crawls and bar fights.
Mini frocks and hair dyes
Made up faces
Mascara filled eyes.
Vodka martinis and champagne
Bus trips and black cabs
Standing in the rain.
Nightclubs and deejays
Entry stamps on wrists
And tattooed fists.
Late nights and hangovers
Fast cars and kebabs
White wine spritzers
And mishaps.
One night stands and live bands
Autographs and queues
Sing-a-longs and sad songs
And over packed loos.
One line gags and handbags
Glitter and sparkling eyes
Cigarettes and suffragettes
Gossip and lies.
Brawls,another one falls
Drunks and punks
Frilly skirts and love hurts
And late rides.
Secret kisses and front row seats
Cinema aisles
Red lipped smiles
Beauties and beasts.
Flashy cars and night time stars
Takeaways and glad rags
Silly jokes and whiskey cokes
Dreams and high hopes.
Nights out and walkabouts
Cheap thrills and teenage wonder
Hitch hikes and motorbikes
Delinquent lightning and thunder.
~ Flowers are the world's little miracles ~ with their sweet beauty ~
You’ve got to have a certain knack
when opening your Silly Sack;
the beasts within will soon attack
with no hold barred, no turning back.
Now these are not the monstrous sort,
it’s just that they do not comport.
Of mischief, they are never short,
treat mayhem like it is a sport.
Prepare for giggles, snorts, and laughs,
guffaw at awkward giraffe gaffes,
where pigs with dirt soap take mud baths,
where self-signed cars give autographs.
Juno the dog is in there too;
you know what she likes best to do.
She’ll give horse rides, and when we’re through,
we’ll see our parents at the zoo!
So loose the drawstring, open wide;
heck, you might even jump inside!
A Silly Sack’s the place to hide -
with imagination as your guide!

I wrote this as quatrains first, then remembered the contest and wrote it as limericks - frankly, I like the quatrains better...
Swing of the bat, contests
Fielders’ gloves, ball in motion,
Run, slide, throw - called safe!
Innings are by turns,
Dramatic or biding, boxscores
Revealing who’s up.
Catching foul ball strays,
Or in bleachers just catch rays,
Fans cheer, hoot and wave!
Hear “Smack!” a hit!
Vendors warble, “Peanuts and beer!”
Star spangled banner.
If you come early,
Ask for heros’ autographs,
Snap players’ faces.
Distance ‘tween bases,
Had to be divinely ordained,
Perfecting the game!
Whether the home team ,
Overcomes temporary calamity,
Makes or breaks dreams!

It was snowing, and in the middle of a great big storm… as…
Another storm raged on, inside our dear, sweet little Dragon,
His penguins so care free, were now chasing after, you see…
The great Dragon Country Western Singer and Star, ‘Drago’!
Yep, they wanted autographs from that OTHER musical Guy!
Dressed up in country attire, as they two-stepped, down the hall.
So Dragon put on his cowboy boots and hat, and other fine stuff…
And caterwauled, in competition! Low and behold, surprising us all!
We fell, begged, & prayed for Dragon, to stop, what he was a doing.
He thought he was, grander than grand, for us to be bowing and cooing.
In truth, we were merely, passing out, from traumatic exhaustion!
As he stopped we tackled him, to the ground, which was the only option.
He was so happy; to have such devoted fans, swarm over him, instead!
He was rushed into a sound proof room, to record for YouTube, we said.
In mercy to all, we turned off the sound, so he unknowingly, lip-synced.
Yep, to Drago’s song! Low and behold! He got 50 million hits, I am told.
With so much acclaim, for the video! Royalties roared in, so we decided.
To rent a big bus, to take us, next summer, to see our new friend Drago!
So beware, there’s still time, to get out of town! This truly is, a warning.
I impart, and if he tries to sing again, have a soundproof room a waiting!
And between you two, in a music video, you and Drago will be set for life!
Don’t forget, the penguins, want to dance, in the video with their idols.
Isn’t it amazing, how stories can unfold, to quiet, the WORST of storms?
But Beware, two Dragons, bring bigger storms, than one alone can form!

A Storm is whirling in town this week, as Dragon’s sidekick is on a streak.
Yes, the little Dragoness is here, and its havoc, she does endlessly wreak.
She took her cape with a small “d”, and made it definitely, into a large “B”.
Then she appliquéd butterflies all around, and painted her wings… yes…
With matching abound.
Now, when Super Dragon is called, Madame Butterfly arrives first, all recall.
She invited the Trolls to follow her around, making it a gang of true renown…
Yep! The butterfly gang has come to town with Dragoness wearing the crown.
Super Dragon was following a length behind, because she was faster, by dang!
And she’s fighting crime with a Capital BANG!
Some teenagers were bullying, little kids, of their lunch money, it’s true…
So Madame Butterfly gave them a reverse Mohawk, with her fire that flew!
Then sent them to set up their own rock band, which became the hit of the land!
Now making tons of money, while having a hoot, they send her, a weekly tribute.
So now the Trolls have butterfly capes, too.
Then Dragon was called to save a family caught in a fire, their plight was dire!
Dragon was inside to get them out, Dragoness instructed the Trolls, on how to…
Put the fire, quickly out! She was talking to the Paparazzi when Dragon came out,
Discussing, with them the plans, on how she was instructing the Trolls to build…
Them a bigger, and safer house, and was dutifully signing autographs for her fans.
Then that mugger, that came to our park, she chased him away, and he never again,
Chose here, to embark… Then she finished up, by putting the Trolls to work…
To build a new Butterfly House… as a perk!! Yep, Dragon was soundly forgotten.
As she kept beating him there first, and he was shoved into the background…
For him it was the very, VERY worst!
But her Mama Dragon only allowed her to stay for one single week…
Then the town was given back to Dragons’ Super Duper mystique…
Still the legend of “Madame Butterfly” will always remain, yes, it’s true…
And her stories will be told throughout time, until the end, of this town, it’s true.
Will she return? Or with Super Duper Dragon, will they have to make do?
For that answer… Stay tuned… is all I can say to you…

"Imagine"
You're at the top of your career You spent years practicing and proving that you could be the very best, if given a chance. Just one chance.
Now you are the NFL Super Star, making millions, signing autographs, collecting millions more with your endorsements. And in that one brief moment of drunkenness and rage, everything you spent your life working for you just threw it away!
Your wife continues to plead that you were both just playing but today things are seen, filmed and posted on the Internet. Damned be the iPhone as you sit in jail charged with domestic violence.
Looking back, if you had one chance to do this over again, would you find yourself just walking away?

Dear Judy:
As I scrolled anxiously through my inbox, flipping through needless letters, hoping for an answer,
I suddenly realized that out of all the emails Ms. Blume receives, I was taking an awful heck of a chancer.
And soon enough, there at the top of the pile, there it was: An email from Judy Blume.
My face lit up like a match to a lighter, and I beamed a great big smile, shining brighter than the fullest of the "blooming" full moons.
Full of inspiration for my being a compassionate writer, and much knowledge gifted from her to me for my being able to succeed,
The brilliant Ms. Judy Blume had surely given me all the information I would need.
And soon enough, before the blink of an eyeball, here I am now, signing autographs, and at last, giving all the advice I can possibly afford to give in this competitive literary market, to younger students than me, I am now using the quote that Judy Blume secretly told me:
Read, read, read and write, write, write.
And now, from the dear Judy Blume, to me, I wish you all a good night.
(Something Seemingly Insignificant and Unexpected Changed My Life – Poetry Contest) 8/24/16
If I were famous, I would hide
Behind gates of that gilded cage
Displayed, my privacy denied
Burned by hot spotlights of the stage
Not for me is the glittered path
My face splashed across TV screens
Where strangers ask for autographs
I am the handmaid, not the queen
Celebrity can do some good
Help out a charitable cause
Supplying medicine and food
Giving true heroes the applause
I'm not immune to gold's allure
For cold hard cash, I just might switch
But from fame's name, I would detour
To be anonymously rich.
