Professor Abdul Kalam the luminous brilliant star
I pay homage to you from here in Dar
Great brill scientist in the field of Aerospace
A noble man with an intellectual mien and grace
Aeronautics and more were his speciality wow!
He's referred to as India's best known nucleur Scientist.
An inventive mind has passed away now
Lets celebrate and commemorate a great catalyst
He did India proud and did a lot for her
All Indians who know him will concur
Elected as her great President as well
Sad now to bid him adieus and farewell
Yay, the Indian soil has now a brilliant hero in her bosom indeed
I adoringly salute this great man of my race and my creed.
When a scientist dies it is a great loss for us all
May God raise more like him after his inevitable fall
But he can now repose in heaven's lap
On earth though he has left a mighty gap.
God I believe, loves those who utilise His gift of brains
Meditation releases us from earthly fetters and chains
Science and learning works your mind ; the brain needs exercise too
So I thank God for scientists , for scientific minds
That help to illuminate and enlighten this world, for me and you.
Brilliance and Madness
Howard Robard Hughes
Famously rich recluse
Dreams led him to the lap of luxury
Followed by nightmarish mysophobic OCD
Rich playboy aviator Howard Hughes
With movie starlets kept himself amused
Dated Katherine Hepburn
Bette Davis took her turn
And still more, which kept the tabloids confused
Born Howard Robard Hughes to a rich family
With English, Welsh and French Huguenot ancestry
Enjoyed a successful multi-faceted business career
But aviation and aerospace were his favorite frontier
I
watched
attentively as
each fold was
creased so carefully and precisely,
and then tested with great care to exact the chosen form.
It was made worthy
of long, sustained
flight to compete
with the other
boys, whose
fathers also
taught them the basics of
aerodynamics from the
kitchen
table.
We have designated drivers and designated hitters
But where are the designated cowboys?
The designated artists?
The designated illustrators?
The designated astronauts?
The designated dancers?
Who decides?
Is it the child or a parent?
A mentor? A committee? A judge?
Who gets to designate me?
Will they designate me at birth or is it later?
Do they take my interests and talents into account,
or is it just a random designation?
Can we designate ourselves?
Maybe, if we grow up in the right part of the world.
Maybe not, if we don’t.
Poof. I’m a poet.
Wham. I’m an aerospace engineer.
Bing! I’m a physician’s assistant.
A wonderful truth worth pondering.
Some children are born into a family business,
and they know what they will be doing
because there is no discussion whatsoever.
Poof. They will be painting lawn furniture all their lives.
Wham. They will be gardeners, taking over Mommy’s business.
Pow. They will be engineers.
Their whole family has been designated to be engineers.
No discussion. Just an inner knowing at birth.
It is nice to think that we live in a world where we can designate ourselves.
We can be a doctor or lawyer or pharmaceutical rep.
But can we really? Can the poor really
afford to go to school eleven or twelve years without any pay
to become a veterinarian?
Can the ones who can barely graduate high school
due to lots of pressure from home to
not buy into the “world of school”
truly designate themselves librarians or archeologists?
I would like to think that they could.
I really do wish I could think that.
If that was true,
if we could all designate ourselves and be anything we wanted to be,
I would designate
myself to be a dragon-training, first-rate,
Indianapolis 500 stunt car race driver. How about you?
Started high school days, with science and math,
Dreaming of becoming an engineer's chosen path,
Time flew by, engineering degree achieved,
No time for novels or poems, I believed.
Limited vocabulary, science fiction in my hand,
Never thought poetry would be part of my plan,
Married life changed, loneliness took hold,
Expressing pain at 60, stories untold.
No syllabus, no foot, no poetic grace,
Yet pain in my heart found its own space,
Love poems flowed, in free verse they danced,
Expressing emotions, life's intricate romance.
Worked as Aerospace scientist for many years,
In the vast expanse, where innovation steers,
Crafting the skies, dreams taking flight,
Navigating realms, reaching new height.
Retired now, from the aerospace domain,
No accolades linger, no applause remains,
The once vibrant mind, now silenced, it seems,
In the quiet retirement, lost in dreams.
As a grandfather now, laughter in the air,
Kids' plays and joy, a love beyond compare,
Penned verses celebrating this beauty,
Yet, loneliness lingers, an unwavering duty.
Oh! Mother India,
Let the pain of bereavement, with all its might,
try not to express itself......
For it will encounter a huge cascading defeat,
And it'll over-flow for sure!
For the cause of pain is so very deep....
Whole Nation is weeping for the great loss of
a noble son of yours!
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam-
an invaluable gem in your crown!!!
Born in a village called Rameswaram,
laced in the lap of your eastern coromandel coast;
Poverty and hardships filled his childhood,
So he supported his family selling newspapers...
He overcame all struggles of life undeterred,
With an iron will treading the path of hardwork,
Righteousness and sincere effort!
Scaled new heights of success and
grew up to become an eminent aerospace scientist,
A revered professor and
a graceful author of several books,
igniting the minds of millions!
An inspiring soul,a versatile genius
A noble teacher for young and old till the end...
His life-an epitome of discipline, humility, simplicity!
His genius he dedicated, for your defence and designed several missiles
Oh mother so he is rightly called
'The missile man of India'!
He graced your nation as the eleventh president and
touched the lives of millions!
Honour of highest civilian award-The Bharat Ratna, an honour
well deserved!
He ignited a spark in millions of children and youth,
A spark to dream, dream and dream....for
He believed that dreams would trigger the thoughts and
thoughts in turn into actions!
He opind that its always easy to defeat someone,
but difficult to win someone....
Oh mother, your noble son conquered billion hearts
so easily with the charisma of his persona!
He stood an indomitable champion of universal brotherhood
and global peace!!!!!
Salutations to this noble son who has set sail for his
heavenly abode....oh mother this great son of your land
will reside in all our hearts today and forever!
A legend he was while he lived and will be a legend perpetually....
Our loving homage to this enlightened soul!
I over heard Momma Bear telling Papa Bear to get a better job,
You remember him from the Goldilocks fame, yessiree-bob.
Our Trolls in Mayham Falls, in the quest, he came across,
And in my experience this could be his complete loss.
He asked for their help, and I have found this very clear,
That having Trolls on the Internet is something to fear.
He explained to the Trolls he would like his space,
So the Trolls understood?, and will give him a place.
At B-Air Aerospace Company, a position they did find,
Papa Bear was overjoyed and told them they were kind.
The Trolls were told that it would be a twelve step process,
Papa Bear was used to some hoops, no problem, more-or-less.
Step one, can he handle subjects that are quite hairy?
Papa answered that he knows, Shemp, Moe and Larry.
Step two, the company required, for background, a resume CDV,
The Trolls gave, understandably, a very funny DVD.
Step three, what it would be or if he knows, if he had a weakness,
Papa said, it was a long story, but he cannot run in The Preakness.
And so it went, questions and answers, he flew through each hoop,
Towards the end, he indicated, it was like eating a giant fruit loop.
The Trolls were happy, helping Papa Bear from a job drought,
So Papa Bear ended up getting his space, as B-Air’s Astronaut.
Momma Bear was elated, and wanted to throw a party, she decided,
All from Mayham Falls, Trolls, Dragon, even Goldilocks, were invited.
Written by Hubby, after woofy-poo encouraged him to write this story.
Actually, she laughed so hard that he had to buy her an ice cream to quiet her.

A Martian from planet Mars,
He thought the earth was a star.
Then sets down on the moon.
explored until noon.
These earthlings are bazaar.
The Martian's name is Sir Peter.
Earthling, take me to your leader.
Earth? He points up, "See that light."
This green man is not too bright.
Helms a ship with an ohmmeter.
The top leaders of the moon.
Gathered in a soundproof room.
Silly man an ohmmeter!
We will install a GPS meter.
"Mars" launch time is at mid-noon.
Peter launched from "Moons" air base.
left the moon for outer space.
Captain's log entry reads:
Electric tops warp speed.
He's now head of "Aerospace."

Heartbroken lass bereft of eminent beau
papa doth vicariously experience her

Unfair a budding promising relationship nought
going to incorporate wedded bliss,

cuz he and the missus
sowed wild oats

Parenthood never ended
just because declaration of independence

when she and he "two peas in a pod"
shared so many college campus memories,
whereby appearances hinted
and predicted a shared destiny
between two love birds.
An abrupt cleavage
rent asunder never witnessing
mutual graceful dotage
figuratively saddled once ebullient psyche
unnecessarily bogged our engineering minded lady
with cumbersome equipage
after they spent precious
young adulthood years together
emulating how married couple live, I gauge
such scenario, cuz talk of wedding bells

Stars are a wondrous sight in the night
They are a most dazzling precious light
Not only beautifying the sky
But guiding the way for you and I.
Dancing angels out in aerospace
With fineness full of heavenly grace
Around the moon scattered stars align
In eyes they twinkle, purely divine.
Devoid of stars the nights would be dim
The man in the moon would lose his grin
Alone in the dark, no company
No angels singing in harmony.
Stars were made as a stunning duo
From the all-powerful supremo
Starlight and moonlight go hand in hand
Beacons that glow on earth's grand bandstand.
Each star has a pattern of its own
That stays unidentified, unknown
They are there for folk to reach out to
With a way of making dreams come true.
Her Christian name is Constance, but I call her Auntie Confidence.
She spurts self-assurance as easily as a strawberry popsicle in July.
She oozes confidence. Some of us stand close, hoping it will drip on us.
If you say, “women can’t,” she will show you that this woman can.
Dare I brag, she was the first female engineer in the aerospace program?
Our family falls under Auntie Confidence’s spell when she stops by.
She is like a meteorite - teaching us to be real, to be confident
To be ourselves and let no one stop us. I am blessed to know her.
At Rio David stole solid gold in boccia,
With a score of 5-0, won it unquestionably,
Flashing punk blue hair, his hairdresser,
Gave him a discount for his flamboyancy.
With spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy,
He throws the ball in team and individuals,
As near as he can to the jack, successfully,
He’s loved by Cedar and Treloars schools.
Born on the 2nd March 1989 in Eastleigh,
Hampshire, he won with his GB team a gold,
At the 2008 Beijing Paralympics heavy,
Then in 2012, won a silver and bronze bold.
David stormed the Europa Cup in Norway,
In 2011 to win gold, and in Befast the Worlds,
He took bronze. He studies hard at university,
Aerospace Engineering for WW II’s Concords.
“When it’s close I have to use the energy
I will. With the crowd it’s great because, [ok],
you can get them on your side and [easily]
psyche out your opponent [to win the day].”
Getting older and falling from grace
Never left the town of her birthplace
Year after year working on the same data base
She suffers from a serious bout of commonplace
Life just seems like a constant race
So much so she’s looking for a hiding place
To take a break from the insane rat race
‘Cause she’s nowhere ready for her final resting place
For some fun and to pick up the pace
She brainstormed ideas to give chase
Since she always had an interest in aerospace
She booked herself a trip to outer space
Outer space sounds just right to find her inner space
