Boston Strong 2014
                  One Year Later

There is a strength in compassion,
a courage in the compassionate,
not a faint desire to be of service
but a triggered response.

There is a power in sadness,
not in the tears or deflation
but in the determination to
persevere, to rise again.

There is a force in unity,
the inexplicable rumbling
of hearts, beating in response
to the hearts of others.

There is a passion in oneness,
in focus, in belief, determination,
a love shared, nurtured, shielded,
cherished, and necessary.

May 14, 2014
He went away,
on a beautiful spring day,
not a cloud in the sky,
and I often wonder why,
the weather was so nice and dry,
with the flowers all in bloom,
and the birds singing their
cheerful tune,
You see the cancer had invaded
his lungs and brain,
his vocal chords were paralyzed,
it should have rained...
Yes, it should have been raining,
and cloudy and gray,
the day Dad left us,
and passed away.

World Cup 2014

Pain in Spain
Bland England
Shame in the game
Who do you blame
When your approach is lame
Three lions or three blind mice?
I wonder

Middle School Graduation 2014

This is my time to shine,
To live a life that is mine.
This is my time to glow,
And let my true feelings show.
This is my time to cry,
To laugh, and to sigh.
This is my time,
And only mine.
I won't let it pass me by,
Like a fading star in the midnight sky.
This is my time.

The Song of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs

TYPICAL 30 - The Start of the 2013-2014 NHL Season
30 of them began their battle with hopeful beginnings
But 14 of them will have their early exit...

As for the 16 teams, their Stanley Cup Playoffs dream begins

The SWEET 16 were chosen, who will be the ones to take the fall?
Round 1 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Let the First Round Battle Begin!

SWEET 16 - The First Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs
16 of them sprinted out from the starting line
But 8 of them fell short to advance...

The Tampa Bay Lightning couldn't produce any more thunder
The Detroit Red Wings ran its last engine
The St. Louis Blues have played its final note
The Dallas Stars could no longer lead the charge

The Columbus Blue Jackets fired its last cannon
The Philadelphia Flyers have crashed down
The Colorado Avalanche buried themselves in the snow
And the San Jose Sharks couldn't take a final bite

The ELITE 8 were chosen, who will the ones to take the fall?
Round 2 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Let the Second Round Battle Begin!

ELITE 8 - The Second Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs
8 of them advanced to the next stage
But 4 of them failed to advance...

The Minnesota Wild could no longer pull a wild run
The Pittsburgh Penguins were left on frozen thin ice
The Boston Bruins were hunted down
And the Anaheim Ducks quacked no more

The FINAL 4 were chosen, who will the ones to take the fall?
Round 3 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Let the Conference Finals Begin!

FINAL 4 - The Third Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs
4 of them advanced to the next stage
But only 2 of them will go to the final stage...

The Montreal Canadiens were left in a cold state
And the Chicago Blackhawks final stand ended in complete defeat

The TREMENDOUS 2 were chosen, who will be the one to win it all?
The Final Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Let the Stanley Cup Final Begin!

TREMENDOUS 2 - The Final Round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs
2 of them danced on the big stage
But only 1 of them was crowned as the champion...

The New York Rangers could not lead the way to the finish

The ONLY 1 was chosen, a team who won through it all!
Los Angeles Kings - The 2014 Stanley Cup Champions

Let the Stanley Cup Playoffs End!

The 2014 Stanley Cup Final

THE 2014 STANLEY CUP FINAL

The grand stage. The big dance on the ice.
Two teams have overcome against their competitors
To try and conquer the ultimate prize...
The prestigious and coveted Stanley Cup

The New York Rangers have led the way over their rivals
And the Los Angeles Kings have overthrown their enemies

The Rangers will try to go all the way
To claim the long-awaited cup, two decades since 1994
However, the Kings will try to battle
To reclaim their lost crown jewel, once theirs back in 2012

Who will rise to the occasion?
Who will be the one to raise the cup?

The 2014 Stanley Cup Final.
THE FINAL BATTLE HAS JUST BEGUN!

Graduation of 2014

Fireworks, like gunshots,
Make great and astounding sound
Congrats, GRADS! Good luck!

Crowds of commotion
Party like no tomorrow
Happy, HARD future!

Happiness and cheer
Overflow in everyone
I'm simply...in awe! C-x

Grand Graduation!
Totally cool seniors - RAD!
Sad to see them go . . . .... . . ... .. . . . . .

To the one who could resurrect?

Memorial Day 2014

It's time to remember those that served and died
Leaving loved ones behind whose tears they can't hide
Look deep into your soul as we honor them this day
For these are the true heroes as the ultimate price they did pay
Their names are preserved on small white crosses world wide
Their faces only memories to a few who stand quiet at grave side
There is no way we can truly repay them for the sacrifice they made
For a life lost is lost forever and even the most grand of memories do fade
Maybe the most honor we can show them is to be the best we can be
And stand tall against those that would bring shame to this the land of the free
For together we can forge the mightiest of unbreakable chains
And prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that our heroes did not die in vain

Rip Uncle - Ode To the Late 'Vasco Lee Diah' 1948-2014

Illness we anticipate, but death we fear.
If dead, we cease to be.....
in total disbelief.
Swallows up life's brief existence.
Like summer gusts, so sudden.....
birth, then doom.
One's beginning and end alone doth it declare.
But are we whole of being?
If the breath alone be 'life' itself,
If even a soul like Vasco can know death.
Oh man! Thou body wasteless.
With it's strange purposes and dreaded activities...
whilst he gazed on eternity.
Retreating slowly, with meditative pauses, he formed with peaceful hands unconsciously.....
and then, he was gone.

These costless expressions of my shadowy self.
Be sad! Be glad! Be neither!
There is no reason why!

Farewell 2014, Welcome 2015

Farewell 2014, God Bless You
Good years pass in a wink
The cup is broken before you finish a drink
The bad ones each day, a hell, an inferno

Sheepishly creeping in, you made tall promises
                 Peace, tranquility, harmony
End of conflict, strife and poverty,
Rule of Law, good governance, redeeming of grievances

Your promises fell by the way side
The high and mighty you served like your predecessors
You reincarnated Hitler, Mussolini and Caesars
Humbleness vanished, ruled arrogance and pride

To Syria and Iraq you gifted ISIS
In Afghanistan and Pakistan you created crisis
The cruel hands of Satan like Taliban were let loose
For the afflicted, anguish and pain you choose

You were a silent spectator to Israel’s atrocities
Like Nero you fiddled when Gaza burnt
The cries and wailings of Palestinian women and children
Fell on deaf ears; didn't melt your hardened heart

You unleashed sufferings to Muslims in Myanmar
You saw the massacre of school children in Peshawar
The sit in observed by the leader Imran Khan
Against the corrupt rulers in Pakistan

Which good deed you boast about
It is best for you now quietly to slip out
And allow me to welcome two thousand and fifteen
See the seed of New Year’s dawn sprout

With radiant shine and glow of hope on its face
The New Year may as well enter the race
                   May through Almighty’s sublime grace
The conflicts and sufferings to leave no trace

Exit 2014 and enter two thousand fifteen
May tomorrow promise a life tranquil and serene!

ONCE AGAIN

Fanciful images play gentle on the minds of children young and old.
Anticipation becomes a forever word that compels dreams and expectations
to struggle with and sometimes overwhelm impatient patience.

Exotic perfumed scents of fir hovers in the air exciting already taut senses.
It clashes delightfully with the bombardment of brash bright colors that
blink, blink, blink slowly mesmerizing hurried minds into thoughts
of blissful peaceful solitude.

Touch the air. Feel it effervesce with sparks of remembered enjoyment.
Of days filled with colors wrapped and tied into careful gifts brought forth
from a rotund man wearing colors of white and red.

The shadows of log fed flames lightly dance around the room in friendly
shades that caress softly and speak messages of comfort and safety.
Familiar melodies bounce along walls and ring bells of spiritually dusted joy.

Mother, covered with the flavors of passed down recipes drops
her apron and proclaims the evenings feast .
Mouths water from images of epicurean delights and eyes widen
anxious and desperate to take it all in.

Now and then I ask myself...
Can love expressed in this complex manner
cut through the hostilities of everyday inconveniences?
We smile and cheer on this annual ritual in hopes
that in some way this interruption in time
will clear away the sludge that clogs the engine
of soiled relationships bred with the guilt of
Auld lang syne and the countdown to Day one, once again.
