Premium MemberThe Bardot Myth

rebel dancer model with a dulcet voice
and penchant for theatrics
Brigitte took Paris by storm
the bombshell exuded more than beauty
she was a force to be reckoned with

Ah! The Golden Years of Hollywood
And those old black and white movies
Some were cinematic disasters
But some you could call quite groovy

Even now, my heart skips a beat
When one appears on the late night screen
I choke up a bit seeing John Wayne
As he swaggers in and out of the scene

Today with its technology and trickery
We don't know if people are real
Or made up computer animation dudes
To me, it seems way too surreal

Take me back to the Spaghetti Westerns
The gangster films of Cagney and Bogart
The Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello
Loved them all, that was cinematic art

The stunning sensuality of Ingrid Bergman
The glamour of a young Elizabeth Taylor
The bombshell beauty of Marilyn Monroe
Bardot, Betty Grable and more

The newsreels, the cartoons, the travelogues
And the giant blockbusters of the time
Sure was a lot for twenty-five cents
Plus popcorn and a drink for a dime

Ah! The Golden Years of Hollywood
Great musicals like “Singing In The Rain”
“An American In Paris” with Gene Kelly
Sure wish I could go back there again

Primary Primp

Prime Minister May
Set out one day
To Brexit a world gone astray

But President Trump
Just wanted to hump
'til the cows wandered home that day

Macron et Trudeau
Thought Brigitte Bardot
Might persuade the Donald to play

But such is our world
That Trump just unfurled
A cheque his attorney would pay

Of course Trump is rash
With taxpayer cash
He's not paid a dime that way

If that gets your goat
Putin has your vote
The GOP wins Primary Day!

Premium MemberParadise Lost

When sultry ripples take a hold
Replacing naive dreams
And fantasy becomes so bold
Seductive in its schemes

It moves into her mundane life
And tempts her with such skill
That she would follow anywhere
Against her weakened will

On soaring moonbeams she does fly
She mingles with the stars
And cushioned clouds become her bed
Seduction holds no bars

Loved and wooed by many
She wows the globe’s elite
Life is just a game for her
A playground at her feet

Sips champagne under starry skies
She dines with kings in Greece
Moves like Bardot in Monte Carlo
Goes au naturale` in Nice

But true love does elude her
Wrong choices to defeat
Gambles sometimes take a turn
Taste bitter from the sweet

Evening shadows enter
Before darkness takes its toll
And Paradise was just a lie
When naïve dreams did fall

Goodbye Australian Cat

Look at yourself Mr Hunt!
   How can you be trusted.
Appalled by indoor comments of a prisonary view.

Native species fade through the mass destruction of our lands,
Yet you in the veil of science
Conserve a ruthless plan.

Poison takes on innocents
Have you not learned life's lesson
To see myxomatosis ravage, rage and burn in the devil's reflection.

Yet you. Oh no! Yes you
Believe that what you do is best
For future preservation, to ensure your culling's met

By eager fools in genocide
On the islands of your shore.
The year 2020 you will celebrate I'm sure.

But me and others like me
We grow older by the day
Bardot tried to implore you
In an intellectual way.

Blighted by your lack of vision
To impose a steady hand,
To inject mass steralisation
That would retain you as a man.

The slow death and the shooting,
Toxic meat wrapped up in plunder.
Roll up. Roll up conservation
In the land we call down under.

Premium MemberJust a Woman

Just a woman - any kind -
would have suited him just now.
He just wanted to get laid...
As it was, he was in this dreary place with only men.
He had his magazines, so turned to them.

On a cover he saw Brigitte Bardot -
she was not JUST a woman -
with her breasts, an' all, an' all.
(He just wanted to get laid.)
He gazed at her picture - scanty clothes...!

Just a woman - any kind -
would have suited him just now,
and Brigitte Bardot was out of reach... oh god,
he just wanted to get laid...
Plus the whisky bottle, from his chair, was out of reach.
