Water speaks under the planks.
Cold mouth counting my breaths.
I will not feed the water.
The river wears broken mirrors.
It calls my name in pieces.

The bridge pretends to be mercy.
Bolts cry out then swallow sound.

You wait across the dark.
Your voice a thin lantern in skull.
I will not feed the water.
Cables hum like teeth in wind.
Each sway drafts endings I can't revise.

I taught myself fire for you.
Now current learns my face.

Love begs; the current applauds.
Boards bow praying not to snap.

Arabian Onegin Sonnet
Never imagined ‘happiness short-lived’
It’s very true; really I'm surprised
Once around the coast so many plants lived
creatures inhibited, but why I'm despised?
Beautiful nature surrounded, 'twas so
pleasant; loved, admired by all so much so
termed as 'beautiful river'; steady flow,
cold and safe to drink a few years ago.
Alas! my good time ended; they just sold
me, now property of investors; bold
steps taken, development rights they sold.
I don't mean anything to them, they know
how to make business profit; they don't know
me, that 'beautiful river'; tired with woe.
Arabian Onegin Sonnet is a variation of the Arabian Sonnet,
which simply includes repeat rhyme in a unique pattern.
The elements of the Arabian Onegin Sonnet are:
-A quatorzain made up of 2 quatrains followed by 2 tercets.
-Metric, iambic pentameter.
-Rhymed,AaAa BBbb CcC DDd

Aqua de Beber
When with you, gin, rum or bourbon, I do not need
Just amorous you, plus drinking water fill all my needs.
A bit of Jobim's Bossa Nova, add that fall breeze
simply luscious and divine.
Knowing I am yours, in arms that embrace me,
as the most, tender of all cherished vines.

Lollygagging scaly lizards lying on dry land;
Tiny slimy sluggish snails crawling in long trails;
Small stygian scorpions springing up from sand
to kill with fast-slashing claws and horrid stinging tails!
Big outlandish parrots saucy and too shrill -
not as any owls I know, hoot-hooting all through night.
Calling from a willow’s limb – a tawny whippoorwill;
Sailing high in big sky – cardinals so bright!
Myriad magical fish with a colorful glow;
Scuba way down low; look at what coral fish can do.
Most playful of animals aquatic – do you know?
Burly, gray, and brainy – dolphins clap for you!
