Premium MemberInside a Cloud

Inside a cloud the lining shines with hope,
on paths that slip and slope, we grip on tight
to rope made from our inner strength to cope,
we always find a way in life to fight.

The road to happiness is felt within,
as soon as we begin to realize,
the win exists inside a smile or grin,
as letting go is worth the compromise.

The stresses and the strains will fade away,
good attitude today can change tomorrow,
allay your fear, removing all the grey,
alleviating grief and painful sorrow.

With positivity you’ll lead instead,
when little problems build inside your head.

why …

why do we careless creatures
hold on so tightly?
tears are not poisonous
they will not etch our face with the
afflictions they carry
but they WILL assuage its acidity -
why not let them roll?
we … are ambiguity’s toys
for love is a whipping post and
an altar, divine …
we allow its words to chain us, unseen
to one or the other
when, in all better judgement
we could allay the flogging and the
flames of infatuation
by simply … letting … go …
yet our fists remain clenched about it
the cable of needs and passions and the
price we pay for them,
firmly in our grip
as we slowly tie it into a gallows
of emotional greed and
committal hubris …
thus …
no matter how many moonrises we
watch trickle thru life’s sieve,
we continue to fall like children for
the hearts we hope to sway
and pay for the privilege with the
dearest of currency …
all the while finding ourselves back in
a purgatory of indecision
weighing love and its costs against loneliness
never knowing which …
is the most …

deadly.

Premium MemberEmergency Department

I walk from work a smile upon my face
a busy shift, 'Emergency' the place.

Where sick and injured come in through the door
and we are always ready to care for.
Alarms are sounding, monitors beep, beep,
all beds are full, and to their needs we leap.

Check vital signs, the temp, pulse, and BP
take blood, a urine test, an ECG.
Put in an I.V. Cannula I will
if veins are difficult, it takes some skill.

Next, take them to Xray to have a scan
or, if their bladder's full offer a pan.
For pain, give medication, reassess?
but if they vomit, I'll clean up their mess.

For patient comfort always tops the list,
and to ensure this happens I'll assist.
When cold, a nice warm blanket brings a smile
sometimes I'll hold their hand a little while.

With reassuring voice allay their fears,
if they're upset then wipe away their tears.
Write up my notes including all I've done,
hand over to the next nurse one by one.

The hours seem to quickly run away
and soon my shift is finished for the day.
I'll say goodbye to patients in my care
be glad, that on this day I have been there.

I walk from work a smile upon my face
A busy shift, Emergency the place.

Puberty And Dotage

Having tasted substance abuse,
today in truth,
many of the young
are wasted in their youth.
But 'God damn' only the pusher
you didn't oughta
as, without the doer,
the dealer, he'd be dead in the water.
One and the same, they're both to blame,
as off each other they will feed,
the former for avarice, a.k.a., greed,
the latter for a misconceived need...
if not to allay his fears,
but cede to the pressure of his peers.
If only my life I could live over again
and the years unfold in my daily scuffle,
as at the thought of growing old,
I recoil from this mortal shuffle.

With apologies to; George Bernard Shaw (1856 – 1950) and William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616)

Premium MemberBeyond the Lay of Years

Years lay over,
tilt to shed tears,
from eaves of leaves
that sway, stay and,
stray away to far beyond.

Lay, lady, lay.
Come allay your fears
and I'll let your colors shine,
if you'll stay with me, for awhile.
Lest, I lay to rest,
a wreath for you,
for the good times we shared
long gone.

The years drift away,
way out wide on the tide.
Marooned as lullabies
of lilting longing shadows,
echoing woe, and go, betides,
way out beyond the breakers,
beyond the lay of years.

The ring of fresh colored flowers,
you once wore around your neck,
now lies forlornly lain,
as a garland of petals,
dropped from a ring of flowers
onto the ground.
Onto the layers of years,
spread out on a mound of tears,
never to grow old,
beyond the lay of years.

Premium MemberWe Together

We together can change the way
our moral tendencies do stray.
Yet we build walls round our estate
and over parapets berate
the way that others go to pray.

Nation on nation joins the fray
some indignation to repay.
What harmony we could create;
we together.

Sweet dreams the children have who play
oblivious that they one day
will fight a war of unjust hate
their fathers wish to propagate.
It is a fate we could allay
we together.

Premium MemberWisdom Doesn't Allay Fear

(Writing prompt : Wisdom is not enough to calm your fears)

Dark clouds of insecurity surge with menacing storm severe,
the distressed mind is sucked into the whirlpool of fear,
and swirls helpless within the vortex of noxious peril of gale,
gets divested of the feeling that the fright could be notional.

In times of disaster the journey’s end seems to be the plight,
as the light at the end of the dark tunnel doesn’t appear in sight.
The frightened senses feel the air of hazard in the unknown,
where the debris of hope piles up in the domain of fear outgrown.

Beneath the surface of the illusory mortal perception unclear,
the wise mind tries to build the sagacious images of fear
with the contours of reasoning that the astute insight affirms,
knowing the danger and realizing the risk in real terms.

Prudence may enhance fear, exposing the qualms deep,
but it tenders the skill to rationally control the panic state’s creep.
Wisdom doesn’t allay fear, an artifact of emotion innate,
but provides the acuity of acumen to face it with strength sedate.

Premium MemberFor the Life of Me

I swore I'd turn and back away,
Resist the call, from the lurking flay.
For the life of me, I could not allay the stay!

Before me lay a morsel, a mere tit bit.
A taste I took, another, another, but could not scoff remit,
For the life of me, I could not help it!

I told myself to turn away, to quell the surge.
To resist the temptation with a denial's purge.
For the life of me, I could not resist the urge!

Danger lurked, the danger warning plain to see
Alas, the hurt to me was not meant to be.
For the life of me, I could not flee!

For the life of me, I couldn’t figure it out.
Why was my will so weak, and prone to doubt?
That my life was so worthless, such a sellout!

Premium MemberThe Oath

The grief of mortals is a passing horror.
We gods, who live forever, saw far more.
Conceived in burning chaos were we few;
Beyond the pain of mortals what we knew.
And I, who suffered more than mortals may,
Conceived this fortress to all fears allay.
Let any call for comfort, they can come:
My peace shall render every torment numb.
My peace protects whoever poison pricks.
These things I swore upon the river Styx.

Premium MemberDreamsong

The night is deep, the stars are still
The waters too had fallen asleep
Beneath this dark and moonless sky
Nestle down and hear my lullaby

Now hush, your fears let me allay
And let your rousing fade away
Depart, depart, to the depths of dreams
And voyage through the velvet streams

Where silver rains and crystals bloom
Where golden dawn dispels all gloom
Where shining rivers shall ever flow
Where grand aspirations shall ever grow

So hush, and drift to a time of rest
And may your slumber be sweetly blessed
Depart, depart, the depths of dreams
And voyage through the velvet streams

Encouragement

Have you ever felt
there is no hope,
like we're under a microscope,
and no matter how we adjust,
we just cannot please our Heavenly Father?
Perhaps you've asked,
"Why bother the Father any longer?"

Open your heart to Jah in prayer
no matter when, how or where.

When we pray,
He listens intently.
He loves you so immensely.
The intensity of his care for you
could never in forever be measured.
You are his child—
a golden treasure.

When we cry,
He knows the many reasons why.
He's aware you want to fly
away from your trials.
You're never subject to his denial.

He'll help you to persevere,
reminding you he's always here.
He'll be there to catch your tears,
calm your worries, allay your fears.

Jehovah God is always near.

Premium MemberFor What Do His Loved Ones Pray

     When his end’s very near
on this earth he holds dear
For what do his loved ones pray

     Do they try to allay
        the pain that holds sway
Or do they wish for release
        ~ all suffering cease

Premium MemberPoeticism Admired

Claims bestilled north river long shores of yore,
inscribed quill while floored, dry well mirror cracked,
breathes clement time preclude stray minds the score,
crept halls, wings, flights of stares, hearts apart prepped,

Cobbled stones of years earned the weight wield turned,
Spring hast sprung that allay belongs the myth,
fog shrouds descend the lengths city lights burned,
themed century earned those writes be true cometh.

Dickens and Poe gave it a go, Stateside,
wherefore and whys -- writing -- forevermore,
Poe taxes implore, task pretense decide,
be the tale that wiped floors of blood and gore.

His parting, stretched wisdom sweetened his climb,
Sense tells in the home, was farthest to fine.

Premium MemberThe Dance of Anger

The Dance of Anger…

A weary waltz,
on a sheenless floor.
Offbeat music
gyrates an endless cycle.
On two, accent anxiety’s weakness
Syncopated rhythms erupt.
Love songs
are a miss.
Vinyl scratched,
for a touch
a large charge
or a bit of blood.*
Choreographed to move timely and allay tears.
Uncrazy!
Dance to a different drum.

Premium MemberWhat is Yours Can't be Taken Away

What is yours can’t be taken away, no matter who tries
Coming to you with fake friendships, and all of their lies

Never have their pity parties, took upon you such scope
As trying to take away your happiness, then try to elope

Leave you empty inside, whilst living, what was your life
Never looking backwards to see your pain, or your strife

Lost and forgotten as you then struggle to find your way
Watching others happiness while your heart is in dismay

Standing your ground you are trying not to lose all hope
Puts on a brave face, smiling telling others you can cope

But one night you took it upon you to take your own life
As so to be rid of all of this loneliness and all of its strife

Awaken to find all was as it should be and so much more
God had kept your happiness because he knew the score

Cradled you in his arms, your troubles he had made allay
Whispered in your ear, what is yours can’t be taken away
