Thought I better get round to writing a bit about myself.

I'm married and live on the Isle of Man

My poetry journey began in November 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The first poem I wrote was called was Splendid Isolation. This was written after we returned to the Isle of Man after his surgery in England. I felt so alone and vulnerable in the accommodation - all I really needed was someone to talk to face to face and maybe have a hug! I posted a few poems on a friends facebook page - mainly humerous poems . An on-line friend Jenny Brewer saw my poems and kept telling me to join here. It took about 3 weeks of her asking me if i had joined to pluck up the courage to finally post and 'Just Desserts' was the first poem I posted here - it is based on a true experience! Since then my life has been a whirl. In Jared Pickett's collaboration I teamed up with Darren Watson and we wrote together collaboratively as JaDazzle United.

I adore penguins - the animals not the biscuits!
Loveeeee tall men with greying hair
I love baking/cooking
I like to potter in the garden - need more time to commit to it but have an aged mother who needs me more than my garden does
Adore most types of music - will give anything a listen
Best ever gig - Knebworth 1986 when 'Queen' headlined

I had this comment from Russell Sivey on my poem 'Doggone'. Please feel free to add your get well messages, I am sure he will appreciate reading them when he is up and about again

"I'm not really allowed on the computer right now...I fell and broke my back! I'm still in the hospital and my wife just left to use the bathroom so I grabbed the tablet to tell someone that I'm sorry I haven't been on the last few days....there is a reason! I slipped in the bathtub and landed right on my back, broke it in two places, hurts like hell too. So if you could let everyone know, I'll be back when I can actually look at a computer without pain! "Thank you Jan..Oh and your poem is awesome

Hello everybody! This is Russell's wife checking in and reporting his progress. The Doctors have said that his breaks aren't as bad as they originally thought they were. He is using a brace to stabilize his back. It is uncomfortable but keeps the fractures from getting worse. The fractures are in his lower back. Good news, there is no damage to the spinal cord. He had some numbness in his lower legs at first, but the Doctors said that this was normal for the shock of the breaks. Thank you everybody for the well wishes, I have relayed them to him and he was very touched by them all. He hopes to get back on soon, after the pain subsides, even with pain meds he has pain. Again, thank you all.

Get well soon my friend! I fell in the bathtub three years ago, fell twice due to some new brand lady's hair conditioner coating the floor, left there by my sister's previous shower hours before. I was bruised badly with back muscles injured and huge lump on my hard head but nothing broken.. Badly bummed up for well over a week. Take care my friend.. .
