Weeks with a lot of emotion and tears

- Dear friends, do not be disappointed if I do not respond to your comments the next two weeks

- I'll try as best I can to "pop in"

- This coming weeks I will be very busy .... (and tired) - My sister and me have to empty the house of my father ..... three floors and garage
(My sister is here only for 5 days ..... we have to work a lot in little time)
- Review all documents and photographs

- My father never comes home, he will stay in a nursing home the rest of his life
- To stay in a nursing home in Norway cost very much money (18.500, - Norwegian kroner per month) - He can not afford to have both, I have to sell his home

- My dad understands, but find it sad - Me too !!!

ohh, i feel with you about your dad's and family's situation.. prayers are underway for healing and peace, dear anne.. please use all your free time to nourish yourself and deal with clan affairs... huggs, huggs

Hugs. One spends their whole lives collecting stuff, and when it comes to the end of the line, their loved ones are giving minimal time to go through it, treasure it and appreciate it. I work the elderly and see it all the time. I sympathize for your position, and send you lots of positive and warm thoughts sweetheart xo

- That is why there is so much emotion ...... I can not throw "their lives" - I know what meant a lot to my mother (who is dead) and my dad - I know there are many who throws EVERYTHING in the trash ..... shamelessly !!! - Thank you for the lovely visit, Casarah - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Hi sweet one.. I can only try to understand what you are going through..It is a difficult decision but one in the right direction. The nursing home can extend your dad's life by years and the quality bybeing there at all times. Do not be scared to open up to your dad re your heart-stirring emotions,most probably it would make him pick up the pieces and be brave for you and your sis. Anna,He will get over the sad part and eventuallyhelps him accept better his nursing home as his nursing community as his new life.Selling his home will help him to move on.Dont worry,the memories of family are not only in the home you re selling but in his heart and yours.A big hug x

Old fashioned, cozy and homey sounds wonderful. You will see his happiness and contentment grow over time and that will help your pain. The selling the house and going through his things is very hard, I did that for my mother and I think it left scars on my soul but who else but the beloved daughter could do it

- Yes, that's exactly what happens with my father - I had to buy new pants to him ..... the old had become too small :))) - He smiles more ..... and he has experiences that he can share with me, when I visit - the nursing home is "old fashioned", cozy and homely :) - He'll be fine - ...... and I can stop worrying 24 hours per day :) - Thank you, B.W. - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Anne-Lise as you know sometimes people truly blossom in a nursing home environment, they start eating better , they look better, they make friends, they go to activities and supervised outings, their health problems are contolled. Of course this depends on the person's condition, hopefully your father is able to improve his quality of life

- I have worked as a nurse for over 30 years, many years in a nursing home ..... I know and have seen this many times - but when it comes to "your own" ..... you are never ready to "let go ".... feels like a defeat - Thank you,B.W. - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

These are difficult times to work through. I had to do this for my mother 3 years ago. In time all will smooth out and become the new normal. Difficult as it is all will work out. Best to you and yours.

'sad for you and for him, anne Lise. Understandably we all sometimes have to take off for priorities in our lives. I hope he does ok in the nursing home. I remember when Mom finally had to sell her house after our stepdad died. She is fortunate to live in a small apt nearby the nursing home. Good luck with all you have to do.

- My father was very ill that time he had to be admitted to nursing homes - (we thought he would die) - The weeks passed and he was much better and he knew that could never come home - Obviously very sad !!! - This summer, he has been on several excursions (bus tours) - He feels safe both day and night - The fondest memories from his home he has in his little room at the nursing home - I visit him as often as I can - hugs and thank you Andrea //Anne-Lise :)

We had to do that with my Great Aunt and Grand parents... who we were very close to... When my Fathers time comes I will have to go stay with him. He will fight us hard- to not leave the house... When Mom died... It became his link to her. He now sees her memories in this house every where... We will have to hire a part time nurse to help us of course. I will have to do most of the work... He will have to be unconscious for us to remove him from the house... These decisions are so hard. And wading thru the memories is hard. Know our hearts are with you and yours... and your Father...

- I have nursed my father for four years in his home (alone) - Living alone with cancer, COPD, diabetes and in a wheelchair .... limits his ability to social life - Living room and kitchen on the second floor .... toilet / bathroom and bedroom on the first floor - he needs help 24 hours a day - One day ..... it becomes impossible ... both for him and me - Thank you for your words, Carol - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

I can understand Anne lise - am in the same position myself - we had an offer made on mum's house yesterday and I have to set about clearing all the contents on my own :-( over the next few weeks - it will be very tough emotionally but will have to be done:-( my thoughts are with you:-) hugs jan xx
