Sad state of affairs for this poor character. However, we probably know or have known people like this! They will do anything for money. I just happened to see "The Lost Weekend" with Ray Milland from 1945--he won the best actor academy award for that one as an alcoholic. Painful to watch that and people who self-destruct.

This one has me wondering. Exactly what did this man do. Was he married, was he just wild or mid-life crisis. Thanks for sharing it with us and for dropping by my page. If it is for a contest, it reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Sara K

Wise and well said. That will do it...but I have few regrets:) Such fond memories make palpable debts.

No mon no fun, comes to mind here Anne-Lise, as a lotto winner once said, I used to get depressed before winning the lottery, and I still get depressed now, but it’s just not as bad now, cheers David

- I know three people who have won a lot of money in the lottery ... there was no eternal happiness ... it created a lot of envy and unfriendliness, David :) - hugs

Anne-Lise, your poem is both clever and artfully crafted. It is a poignant reminder that nothing from banks comes without a cost. The accompanying image complements the theme perfectly.
