Haiku inspired by
a Norwegian song
Text by: Alf Prøysen
"Oh the one who was a dandelion standing in dirt and mud
In Bispegata three;
The very first dandelion that flared up behind a garbage can
In Bispegata three,
So anyone could pick me, and that "someone" would be you.
You pinned me to your blouse and tripped out into the sun and wind,
And I got to join.
I should feel your body behind the sales fabric of muslin
As we walked down the street,
And think I was a diamond against the thin lace border of the blouse,
And everyone should see.
After your long busy day of work then I heard your heartbeat,
In the evening you took weary steps up the stairs to your room,
And I got to join.
Then you went in and turned the dress inside out, washed your hands, neck and cheeks
For the hot fire of the sun.
Your care is like most women's, you brought what I needed most;
An egg glass with water.
Then I get a seat by your bed and watch you fall asleep.
And outside the night is blue, a dandelion can reach happiness,
So above all sense.
