I would start this giant rant off by assuming that individuality is the bane of human existence. For what is individuality but little quirks and bad programming further altered by both nurture and our environment? For all yourself belief that you are you who are a simple alteration in a variable in your life could lead drastic changes in everything about you. A simple change in a parent for example, for those of you not blessed with excessively rich parents, for example, if you had them your very essence would be altered by that environment. Of course the opposite is true if you had rich parents and think how different you would be if you had poor ones. Though the changes they make could be for the best or worse it’s always impossible to say. It is merely an example of how palpable our individuality is. Of course without it that first fish never would have said “hey screw you guys in growing legs and going on to the land.” Of course that fish died but others that came after had far greater success. No risk, No reward? Perhaps, but it seems better to let others tread first and watch carefully the mistakes and success they have. Which brings me to several more points; first allow me to adjust your perception form an individual standpoint to a generational one? For every generation has its own independence from the one that came before it. How wonderful it is to be the next generation with all the blessings of the previous one. All our technology perfected over the generation, and it will continue to do so. From a personal level we can say learn from those that came before or from a generational view we can say that those that do not know history are doomed to repeat it. Perhaps one of the most counterproductive things we can engage in is war. I am sure they will tell you all the benefits from economy to fighting for justice and let’s not forget pride or the fact it’s great for population control. War is never a good thing. Now try to keep up in switching again to cultures. Each culture also has its own individuality, and what causes more war then the difference between them. I can break them down even further to specific ones. Religion probably takes the blame for a vast majority of it. Economic differences between classes or neighbors are probably next. Need we look any further then diamond industry in Africa to point out that plain old greed takes up the next batch. Yes individuality on the multiple levels that it exists in our world is nesaccary for growth. At what point though do we trim the fat and cut away the excess. Allow me to continue on a bit more, I shall pose this hypothetical scenario. Let’s assume that Hitler had succeeded. Let’s assume that he conquered the entire world and killed off the entire non Arian race and every one of a religion that was not of Hitler’s choosing. Basically he kills everyone that does not fall in line with his view of how things should be. Let’s give him a little help and say that all those that remained alive after his cleansing were indeed staunch defenders of everything he believed. One culture is all that remains left on this planet and peace does exist. There is really only one problem, it only last along as Hitler does. Politics are divided as the would be heirs try to separate themselves and garner votes or favor. It’s a small crack in the united culture but it’s really only the beginning of the down fall. It’s really the nature of politics to create an us versus them scenario. Either with me and against my opponent or with him and against me. And that’s in a best case scenario, worse case scenario the surviving generals go all war against each other as they try to claim by force what they can. Civil war erupts and everyone loses. The next few generations after Hitler died, through either scenario will eventually splinter and create more individual cultures and religions and problems and advances. Will after following this train of thoughts through to this juncture I can clearly see now that idividuality isn’t the problem. I lost my train of thought, I blame my age.
