A Poet’s Return

Blog Posted by Robert James Liguori: 10/7/2024 5:09:00 AM

So I'm running a Glenn Hughes song inspiration contest. The rules are simple, write and submit a poem inspired by a Glenn Hughes song. So, can someone please tell me why I have 21 entries that have absolutely nothing to do with Glenn Hughes?  ... or is it a common practice not to read the rules when submitting?  Are any other contest sponsors having the same issue? Or am I the only one?  If anyone can shed light on this, please do!!!  Sincerely, Robert

Robert, I always get a few but 15 is extreme, how frustrating, don't get discouraged just NA them and go with the poems that got it right, Constance

Or in Robert's case 15!!

It's a common thing, so far in my contest I have about 3 poems that have nothing to do with my contest. I am not sure if the same people are doing it across multiple contests, but admin needs to do something about it

The "Report Poem" button is a good idea Suzette, because this has been going on for too long, sponsors should be able to boot these poems from their contests

That is why I wait for the contests results and not bother about new poems posted.

That is why I suggested to TPS under my blog comments at my latest blog that sponsors are also given a "Reports Poem" button ... Spam is annoying and often the contest prompt (the title of the poem, the poetic forms, etc) is used to drive readers to their poem. It waters down the credibility of the poem - read a few like these under new poems posted and you close the site ...
