Greetings. My name is Marikate and it is quite often spelled and pronounced wrong, which makes life interesting. I have two young adults both in college. Needless to say, her father and I eat a lot of pasta. Caroline, my youngest reminded me she enjoyed delicious tiramisu for her campus dessert the other night! Nice to know that's where our college payments are going. :)
I was a homeschooler, a kindergarten teacher, and a program writer in Darien Ct. and Westchester County, New York. I love to paint, read and write. I am especially fond of Impressionist art. Love fun, funky music to dance to and Gershwin to sing to. Met my husband in a club when my mom and I went dancing. He was the DJ
Sometimes I write about things that are sad because they are a way for me to experience that time in my own re-framed way. My Mother's Garden is one. I write rhyming stories and one-page poems on topics for young children. MUSHY APPLE MUNCHERS is one I just finished and another I titled BLUE BUCKET WHALE. I live near the beach and one day heard a child say to his mother that he was going to catch a whale in his blue bucket pail. Great book title I thought! My mom was a published author. Her last book before died was called Outrageous Hero. It was about my Uncle Brien, a Viet Nam vet, a double amputee. A very outrageous character.
I enjoy the children's poems of Kenn Nesbitt so much. I cannot read one without laughing! I love this site and am quite the newbie. So please pardon my mistakes as I go along.
WHEW! Enough said. Can't wait to read your poems.
