Empathetic Light

Empathetic Light Lady Diana, the exquisite Princess of Wales. A heroine now in hundreds of tales. An accomplished pianist at Buckingham Palace. A hopeful ballerina, a kindergarten teacher. A radiant young woman who loved to dance, A royal young activist. A humanitarian princess with courage, not discouraged. A demure beauty, dedicated to duty. To replace fear with compassion, she modeled for the world charitable actions. "Hold my hand, I’m not afraid” whispering to a man who suffered with AIDS. Her hugging and empathy never ceasing, her tender love always increasing. A hospital president for sick children, her mission. Cautiously walking through land mines, one scary step at a time. Explosives in the ground, she showed their purpose no longer found. Her little princes, one on each arm. William and Harry adored their mum. To normalize life at times, Disney rides, McDonald’s fries… Paparazzi hunted her for years, bringing danger and tears. The most photographed woman in the world. A wedding dress of 10,000 pearls An elegant, humble golden girl. One evening a tragic trip through a Paris tunnel. Drive faster, speed up, turn them off put them down stop clicking turn around. Then a horrific shame, who was to blame? Indescribable loss at a human cost. God wanted her back in 1997. The Princess Of Wales, was our present from heaven. They say a billion mourned. The world’s hearts truly torn. Memories of mummy nobody could take. Two royal sons, their hearts did break. Now fathers with children to love, new charities to support and take care of. I miss her now and missed her then. Your sister, my mother, her nanny, my friend. She changed the world for nations until her end. The lives she touched were made healthier and bright by Lady Diana's empathetic light.

What a gift to milllions. My poem is long, but writing about Lady Di was an emotional experience for me, so it was tough to stop writing. I watched her wedding and cried. Her funeral was devastating. I felt like I knew her as thousands did.

Thank you. I was moved by her in so many ways. I still own books about her and finding one the other day prompted me to write this poem. I do feel she was a gift to the world from God. What a horrible person Camilla was.

She was one of a kind trapped in cage of royalty, yearning to be free. And your poem bestows a well deserved tribute on her memories, beloved by many. This poem feels heartfelt, because it is.

I will always feel that she was a gift to the world, from God. She touched so many millions on her own. Her death will always remain a mystery to me. People used to say I had her eyes and her hair. What a compliment for a young girl. I so happy for your praise, I agree with your first sentence especially.

I have read that when people would speak to her they felt like they were the only person the world. That is rare to be able to create that feeling in people.

Wasn't she something? It sounds dramatic, but sometimes I almost cry when I see her picture. I felt like I knew her for some reason. Isn't it strange that millions did too? She was emotionally captivating. My poem started out angry towards the monarchy, but I deleted that part as I knew she would have too. The world was a truly better place with her in it. Watching her wedding I cried Watching her funeral procession I went to church with my mother. Thank you for commenting on my poem Richard.

I cried watching her wedding and went to church when she died. I do and will always believe there was foul play occurring and surrounding her death. She was suspicious and scared as well as she said in an interview I watched on 60 Minutes. Thank you for your nice comment, Brian

Quite a brilliant reprise of this woman, whose lives touched so many. Too bad she got hooked up with a man who lost interest in her once he hooked her. Tragic stuff; great write. Thanks, Marikate

Thank you Gershon, this poem was both easy and difficult to write at the same time. I heard Lady Diana say on 60 Minutes, that she was scared for her future and that Prince Charles reminded her it was the custom of royal men to have a mistress. I do believe she was a gift from above for so many to survive and love.

You're most welcome. Thank you for your praise. In my heart, I do believe she was a true gift from heaven to save so many and for us to love. As millions and millions of people felt as though we knew her personally, I feel it was a terrible loss to the world.

I really liked her too. I do not care for the other royalty of England. I hear theories about her death. Do you think any of them could be true?

Yes, I definitely do not think her death was caused only by a car crash. I watched her interviewed on 60 Minutes. She was suspicious something like that was imminent. She claimed that Charles reminded her he would have a mistress as was the custom of royal married men. There were too many unanswered ?. Thank you for your response & your thoughts Andrea. Her son Harry felt the same in his book, SPARE. As millions do, I wish she was still here.

I agree with the others: a lovely tribute Marikate. To think, she could have been Queen of England now if love, luck and fate had been on her side. Cheers - Gary

Thank you Gary. This poem was both difficult and easy to write at the same time. Your praise was so nice to hear. So many millions wish she was still around even years later. She changed the world, lives and perceptions.

This poem meant a lot to me. She emotionally made this world a better place. Like millions, I felt I knew her personally, that in itself is interesting and mysterious. I missed her then and I miss her now Thank you for your lovely comment.

Such praise. Thank you so very much. I always felt like I knew her personally and was just undone when she passed, like millions. This poem took weeks to write and I kept re- writing it so many times. It was too log and wordy at first. I am touched by your comment Charles.

Wasn't she lovely in so many ways? I cried when she died. Although a royal, I felt I knew her well. This poem was not very polished, so I went back to it and cleaned it up a little. Thank you for your kind comment Joanna
