Benjamin Blue

BENJAMIN BLUE Benjamin Blue lost his shoe. He called to his mother, “What should I do?” His mother said, “Look under your bed” But as he did, he bumped his head! His father said, “Look under your chair” But all he found was dust and hair. His brother said “Look in your room, behind your door “ But dirty socks just covered his floor. Benjamin Blue sobbed for his shoe. “I will never find it, what will I do?” His sister in the garden sat with her cat, then smelled something gross screaming, "YUC, WHAT IS THAT?” (She was known to be rude and kind of a brat) "Benjamin" she hollered, "I found your shoe” He knew she was right, when she shouted, "PEE U!"

An adorable stinky-feet story. Benjamin's show was easily found. Enjoyed.

It was fun to write. There was a boy I had a crush on in 8th grade, named Benjamin. I will forever remember his name. I'm not sure if he ever lost his shoe, but I know as a grown up, I still do :)

Thank you Andrea. I spent years reading children's books to 5 year olds and I love the rhyme and rhythm that comes from their pages. :)

Thank you Charles. It was fun to write. I taught kindergarten for years and I love the rhythm and sing-songy-ness of the language in children's books. I just love the name Benjamin and confess to losing my own shoes now and then. Guilty as charged. Thank you for your nice comment :)

Wow, how kind of you Paula. Sometimes writing comes so easily, other times nothing seems to jump out of my brain, writer's block. :( I need to try some new kinds, of poems like a quatrain. Eventually maybe.. Thank you again for such a nice comment.

Thank you. I love the rhythm and rhyme in children's books, so important to language development in children. I enjoyed reading to them for 20 years as kindergarten teacher. Thank you for your nice comment Mystic Rose Rose.

Clever, reminds me of the rhyme "There Was An Old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly" I don't know why, perhaps she'll die! A very engaging rhythm, for children's story! Robert

Why thank you sir. I read to five year olds as a kindergarten teacher for years. I have a massive collection of children's books now. Language development that comes from the rhythm and rhyme on their pages is still with me & of course so important to young readers. Thank you you message. I enjoy your writes as well.
