Hooray

Hooray!

Wet grassy feet fill my soccer cleats.
Hot sweaty teens run fast track meets.

She skis down sugary mountain tops.
He begs his coach to play shortstop.

    Footballs, field goals, fumbles.
    Touchdowns, tackles, tumbles.

My mother keeps warm with hot brown drinks,
as I learn to skate on chilly rinks.

A sadly splintered hockey stick, from a two-quick hat trick.
A winning catch is cradled in a well-loved mitt.

Tiger wins with a hole in one.
Miniature golf is much more fun.

   Double dribble the whistle blows.
   Excitement on the court grows!

Busy balls dunked in their hoops.
"Hooray" the three cheers for the ALLEY -OOP!

A testimony to her patience and stamina " My mother keeps warm with hot brown drinks, as I learn to skate on chilly rinks."

My mother's first started drinking coffee was when she had to stand in freezing cold rinks watching me figure skate and my brother hockey skate. A yummy hand warmer. Thank you for your nice comment.

I guess one could say that. Most of the time we were skaters because we lived on the Candian border, where the winters were always long. Lots of ice inside and out. It was nice of you to read my poem, even though it was months ago. I'm embarrassed I did not reply when I should have. Thank you.

Thank you, Paulette. I must confess I had to ask my son what an Alley opp was. It probably would have made a cuter title. Tee Hee.

You know what's funny? I only skated and ran track years ago. My brother and sister played lots of sports and my husband is a football fanatic. I guess I was more of a fan. Tee Hee.
