Premium Member Truly a warm gift

I open behind the curtains
To let in the most beautiful ultra light
You who knows this heart better than anyone else
A soul calls singing enchantingly
In flash your blinding
brings salt to the eyes
crystal pearls flashing diamond silver
Mixed with golden sunlight
paints a rainbow of colours
laced with angel rays shines out with love
The brightest blinding treasure

Premium Member Nothing To Say

And if you have nothing to say
Except what is strictly necessary
What are the points that you may
Be fed up with, so measurelessly
It could be the war you are taxed with
Or the regular fiddling with apps
Are you not a robot, they ask you
You probably are, under wraps
Or maybe it could be the weather
Repeatable orange alerts
A wind that’s too warm for the leather
But cold for the cotton t-shirts
And everything looks plainly evident
Spins like the merry-go-round
You know fairly well what’s been said
You don’t need to echo that sound
May speakers apply to the air
In tireless wondering why
A few withered leaves over there
Drop down the expected reply..

Premium Member Blood Warm

I know not your will our pain suffer
tear soaked ground
Fill with empty coffins of decaying past,
no one's home; soul gone away
Vulgaris society like yesterday's dreams
Hatred killing blood shed streets run
Love no more, independence of oneself

Is it not ourselves we save our own
Bones wasting away six deep in
Is it not of diversity we pull strength
Everything we kill we wipe DNA to life
What is purpose if we abandon reason

Once a nation founded on moral respect
Bitten by snake's venom piercing blood warm veins
Does a one not hate of their own accord,
despising everything good
Are we better ancestors, same battle since dawn
Good vs evil, war only you make difference outcome
Blood warm, resurrection Jesus; infinite mind to peace

The Orange Hue

as the day break hits the curtains, emitting a nice warm orange hue

Semejanza a tu amor.

      *********

faint light
with warm beacon
soft breathing fills the still room,
where our shadows reheat as one
sinking in sweet content

NEW DAY

Warm night
Dawn bright,

Bird sings,
Joy brings.

Coffee
For me.

New day
Hooray!

Children's Poem: Blanket Hug

My blanket wraps me tight
and snuggles me,
It keeps me warm all through
the night,
Until the morning brings the
the first bright light.

Premium Member Peak Summer

blazing sun in fields
cicadas hum in the trees~
heavy air stands still

dust clouds rise and drift
fields of wheat bow to the wind~
air humid and stiff

heat waves waltz on roads
cool water runs in the creek~
daylight holds its load

warm twilight now sprawls
stars blink in the velvet night~
tall shadows on walls.

A Warm Shade of Brown

Oil spread across blank canvases
W
   i
      l
         d

reigning over the smudges I tossed
crimsons and violets and fuchsias galore...
merging together to form a tree bark hue
the deepening browns often relate the most~
unique and fertile as the shades can ever become
wild and bitter like lattes blended with vanilla
down to earth and relaxed as a warm light source
making my skin go reddened and vibrant
like parakeets nesting in trunks and serenading
or moss clinging to nearby marble, discovering a home
sort of like a fashion statement, a mild accessory
but these browns won't linger in silhouettes
just keep me pacified and add to soft ambiance
while aiding to the beauty of belonging
and the silkiness of softness which surrounds us~

Premium Member will she ever get warm

she cannot get too warm; she is always cold
This granddaughter of mine, with hair so fine.
She is a little shy, introverted, not big and bold
Wearing knitted leg warmers that are mine.

She is bundled up in a sweater bulky and white
wrapped up in a comforter full of duck down too
Will she ever get warm? I wondered that night
The night that the pilot light went out in the flue.

SILENT NIGHTS WHEN THE STARS SLEEP

May, 2002
for the first time in a decade
Sierra Leone slept
without fear.

The night was strange
almost unfamiliar.
Silence returned
like a forgotten friend.

No cities burning
No parents running
No children crying
for names lost in smoke.

Just deep stillness
so pure and sacred
even the stars
seemed to fall asleep.
