Unalterable Poems

Remember

Recollect when you decided
for a choice was most surely made

To dismiss me from your
heart and mind

To destroy the plans
Once layed

My own dependability
as sure as a well oiled clock

aided and abetted in this outrageousness
to my unalterable shock

You declared you know I must hate you
Your exact words as I recall

I don't care enough to muster that up
but I really don't like you at all

So what will you take
from our meeting

What lesson sent
through me to you

Your well rehearsed steps shown
to have been here before

I know what I'm
taking from you.......Nothing

Premium MemberIf a Tree Should Fall

if a tree should fall and there is no one to hear it
not even the merest susurrus for a poet to capture the moment
the encomium will cease

with each slight
each rejection of the light
and acknowledgement withheld
the all encompassing existence of all
called into question
the glacier crevasses gape
to engulf
the whole

however
frozen to the core
we must
remain undaunted
on a steady bedrock of the conviction
that all existence
isn’t in vain

if we can dream it we will not fade away
like unalterable photographs from bygone eras

we are the essence
the stases
holding
reality of
all life
in the
balance

I slowly come to
as light creeps across the floor
and dissolves what I thought
had fallen through
the torn sides of a dream.
Nothing is there but
the scuff marks left
by fleeing ghosts.

Unalterable facts assemble
and lock shut around
a narrowing space housing all
that I think I am.
Faces appear and find
their place in the gallery
of portraits, some smiling
others wearing a haunting
sadness. Love attaches
and takes up the tension
as thoughts move and stretch,
each nerve linking
to a loved one. I hold on
and hope it's enough.

Then fear rummages through
its wardrobe of masks, trying on
each to see what best fits
the day. It likes to look ahead.
Morning begins its rituals
to hold back a harm
that hangs over me
or stop the countdown
ticking towards some
menacing, undisclosed
catastrophe.

Premium MemberThe Bible

The emerald field of magnificent alps.
variety of colours radiating with brilliant effusion.
infinite beauties melting to the admiration of one.
depth overreaching all the boundaries of fickle fin.
pleasant jewels knotted by the Master of all knowledge.
A vast sphere mapping out discordant planes of time and eternity.
all the paths in concurrent course pointing to The Way,
with its pillars firmly grounded on the Truth,
come see the winding rivers with unalterable course to The Ligh.
A mine without a bottom, a sea without a shore.
inexhaustible depth beyond the pretenses of all tinsel
the well of eternal realities incomparable with earth's shadows
break your ego to grasp this golden pearl
let not jewels gather dust in the shelve,
Take and read to know thyself and thy God
and like the ox, drink it down to find Peace.

Premium MemberMaking Mask, Instead

On the flower petals of the blooming faces,
flutter the patina of chromatic luscious lips,
gracefully painted with alluring shades of lipstick,
the attraction amplified by the dazzling smile.

In the women’s winsome world of enticement
many things stay tediously the same unalterable,
but the colors of the lips is an option of change,
they all strive to try in various charming hues.

Realizing it’s a large fashion market worldwide,
I set up a modest factory rolling out array of lipsticks,
not competing with the products of L’Oreal or the like,
my business started booming, soaring to new heights.

But then comes the virulent corona virus from the blue,
making lipsticks for the masked lips rather redundant.
No takers, I have to close down my factory where now
I am making mask to survive in these difficult times.

A Sonnet
called

" Masquerade "
Written: by Tom Wright
8/4/00

Unalterable sins,
needing a blood covering.
Modernistic attitudes and views,
that diminish the cross' message
being directed toward sparse filled pews.
While amplifying ideas,
misdeeds, lay hidden behind a mask.
Surfacing stories of alienation,
a pretender brought to task.
Stripped now of facade,
exposed to all, is Satan's drool.
Masquerading in darkness,
all see, an unrepentant fool.
"And be sure, your sin will find you out" *

Premium MemberLonging For You

Muddy road cracks
Past rural fields
Lined with dust,
Gnarled willows:

And evening fog thickens
While unalterable silken ivy
Reminds me...

Of all our moonlights back.

Once upon a time
          a father loved his child
beyond belief

They lived a blissful life
          enjoying it's pleasures
while maintaining a friendship

that encompassed everything true,
          meaningful in scope
Blessing each other

with their companionship,
          unalterable faithfulness
When the father

reached old age,
          the child adulthood
a new generation was born

the cycle repeating itself,
          now the child the father
with children of his own

Perpetuating a
          wonderful existence
majestic and exhilarating.

Unalterable
          loyalty to tradition
               our kindred treasure

     Consoling touches
          from loved one's true tenderness
               my beloved's arms

     Traversing one's life
          a warmth of togetherness
               this most heartfelt peace

I Am

The shadow of death though it looms before me I do not fear.
Life has befallen me since the day of my birth, life has prepared me for death.
My courage comes not from victories, but from understanding.
What I have become is lived, having been alive and felt life.
This is life's natural course, unalterable and steadfast in it's direction.
No force of nature or man can change that I did exist.
I have existed in this time and will forever be in this here and now.
I Am......

A Statement of Fact

We are who we are. But then again we’ve always known that,
and made no apologies for the truth of our uniqueness.
We are who we are. A simple, painful statement of fact.
Like the eastern rising and western setting of the sun, there
are some things we must accept – albeit slowly – as unchangeable.
Unalterable. Fixed. Carved in stone.
We are who we are. A simple statement of fact.
It is dangerous and unwise to strip away pieces of our true
selves , while trying to remain whole.
We diminish our souls and our soundness by rounding our
corners and sharpening our curves, to better force ourselves
into tight, unnatural spaces with only enough air for one.
With you I have become an ebony Alice, on the wrong side
of the looking glass. And you are a long, long way from Kansas.
You are who you are. A two hundred mile an hour hurricane,
with a smile. I am who I am. A resting place with small, warm hands.
We are who we are. Just not together anymore.
We are who we are. A simple statement of fact.

Delusion Flowers

Flowers on fields of delusion,
We lay upon them to justify a dream.
Freedom escapes from our smiles,
Flowers denying truth on fields of green.
We offer our apology and our love,
Red roses or lilies white.
A time to smell the Nature's gifts
In fragile petals of the Spring.
Colors may change a season,
Or thorns may betray our lust.
The untouchable wish remains
In a flower we've never held,
Like a secret kept unalterable and pure
Over a time vanishing.

Inexhaustible Love

I succumb to love’s demand
To be inexhaustible like desert sand
Fathomless like deep oceans
Soothing like the moonlit night

Sacred like a holy book
Unalterable like faith
Imbedded in heart like virtues
That unselfishness ignite.

My love is beyond my own self
Not counting loss and gain
My love crosses the bonds of
Religion, color and creed.

My loving thee O mankind!
Enhances my love of God.
