FALL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Falling leaves, once vibrant fists of green, bow to placid flames.
Autumnal breeze plays in both up-tempo and gentle lulls.
Leaves, a symphony of umbers and golds, serve as crunching meditation.
Living life fully in sanguine scarlet before the season’s gentle letting go.
A blood-dipped letter lies before me,
Wrapped in moth-ridden silk,
Written by your ghastly fingers.
The cold of another bleak fortnight settles in,
While crimson-eyed ravens rest upon creaking window sills.
Stoking the fire, umbers rise and dissipate before me,
Painting prophetic warnings in the air,
As the distorted ticking of clocks chimes tensely,
Repeating the same hour—two a.m.
A crisp chill shoots up my spine,
I wrap myself tighter in your charcoal shawl,
Reaching for the last of the firewood you chopped.
Placing it in the hearth, I now know it's time.
Removing the silk, I cast it into the flames,
Peeling back three wax skull seals.
I open the fateful envelope,
The curse you unknowingly wrote into existence.
Placed upon me, it rests in my weeping hands—
One cataclysmic night was all it took,
For our destruction,
Your soul claimed by the nether,
And mine bound within a perpetual loop of despair forevermore.
Hear our voice
From the east, west, south, and north
Hear our independence
This July Fourth
Like flowers in bloom
In the night
See the chandeliers
Hang in the sky
With crescendos and
Reds, blues and whites
Explosions and commotion
In the battle lights
In the bomb blasts and bombast
Crimsons, umbers and beige
Like the dawn’s breaking light
Mauves, cobalts and jades
All the high-lights and sky-lights
Caught by the American’s eye
It's In the fodder of the diviner’s rod
In the wizardry of July
Summer's green vistas sang a farewell tune
as bare limbs gently swayed in a chill wind.
It swept o'er hills, beneath a harvest moon,
filching leaves; a theft it could not rescind.
Autumn is gilded with bucolic hues.
Fawn feathered birds wing in indigo skies.
Burnished umbers and rusts imbued with blues
on a landscaped palette, my eyes apprise.
Nature's artistry paints without a brush,
picturesque valleys in ginger and gold.
Rouged in the season of red crimson blush.
Fall's grandeur provides bright scenes to behold.
Vivid, the months when from mountain to sea,
they're washed in beauty's prismatic esprit.
A bell-jar, crystalline, as transparent as an aquarium
Vibrant colors burnt umbers tints glass atop the kitchen table.
No elaborate gardening, just gentle misting in the terrarium
Muted pinks, earthy tones, texture soft as Siberian sable
My supercilious ways are overridden by fecund elegance.
Gather around my friends and behold cherished succulents.
These flowery cacti, such profuse perennial poetic ebullience,
with an award worthy, floral southwestern desert essence.
With chilling breaths, October's magic sighs
The pastel golds and umbers drifting bright
And all its wonder sparkling 'midst your eyes
To stoke the embers of these longer nights
The pastel golds and umbers drifting bright
That burnished carpet woven with romance
To stoke the embers of these longer nights
Will never leave such autumn loves to chance
That burnished carpet woven with romance
And all its wonder sparkling 'midst your eyes
Will never leave such autumn loves to chance
With chilling breaths, October's magic sighs.
The day chilled rainy and gray
allowed the wind to sweep and sway
each and every tree that held tight its leaves
now released them to the slightest breeze.
Driving down the blackened road eroding
macadam faded into a multitude of leaves exploding,
the palette of beige colors warmly frayed
into a mix of shaded cool arrays.
Indescribable in the autumn beauty
the hues slipped down in skeleton nudity
of floating pale greens and burnt orange umbers
with mustard yellows and crimson passioned wonders.
The brilliant glow of a yellow pineapple sunned pear
could not match the creamed corn eggnog glare
where profusive light streamed in pink merlot blush
as colored magic sketched the last of autumn's brush.
oh ...
Gustav, how you pique the senses
captured passion's plural tenses
lovers twined in percale folds
caught supine with spattered golds
porcelain dolls in fetal slumbers
brushed sublime in tans and umbers
bold, the bleeds of Burnt Sienna
stippling scapes of fair Vienna
Yellow Ochre, Prussian Green
Cadmium Yellow, Blue Indanthrene
trees like soldiers, lilting boughs
abstractions spun of silken vows
ceilings meant to thus adorn
gilded graces - Heaven-borne
waters, tranquil - tresses, bare
a world composing textures, rare
you struggled long to e'er refine
your critics and uncommon line
subjects some then found appalling
yet, remained, your faithful calling
imbibing absinthe, sans a chaser
life you sketched with no eraser
and while we mortals can but dream
you left the world your gauzy gleam
so death would not define the worth
of genius meant to shake ...
the earth.
I thought of “Far Away” as an escaping,
wild trees and flowers in all their rapt fury.
To be free of love and all its stiff draping,
fleeing dark emotions in a swift hurry.
Now I see bright orchids in their wild scaping,
shades of magenta, aqua and snow flurries.
But suitcases hold Things, not a heavy heart.
I must retrace my steps, begin at the start
of where it all went wrong, damage of colors
not our own. The inks and umbers invading
our love's pastel sanctity, bringing dolor
to what was once a chartreuse-golden shading
of sunshine and jade meadows, not the pallor
introduced by shadowy words evading
questions asked. Love's creations are worth saving.
I must return home, to sate the heart's craving.
E-very tick of the clock
L-ets us be in a hurry;
L-ife on earth is too short;
A-ll of us must not tarry.
I-n front of us we see
N-umbers of people outside;
E-ach chance we must take to snatch them from evil pride.
B-oost into dynamic speed,
R-apidly we must strive;
O-n fifteenth morn of July
N-ews of salvation we must drive.
P-roclaim the righteousness
O-f the Lord God Almighty;
R-ight path man must know
T-oward receiving endless glory.
U-nbelievers are unfortunate,
G-o invite them to the flock;
A-nytime the world will end,
A beautiful creation does exists;
for God has, in Jesus' kingdom, lain marble.
Numbers of pearls.
Quazars radiate skywards,
torchlighting unbelievable views, without.
Xenophobia;
Yahweh, zilches.
Reds, golds, and umbers
The trees all have shades of these
When Autumn does start
A lovely display they are
Smart groupings of radiance
Petroleum translucent wings wave upon a sage green moss
Whilst vibrating webs in fevered mood delight a flies flight loss
Tinkering thoughts they travel over a calming cool breeze break
Smiling eyes, a touch, a breath, do beguile upon one gentle lake
Cotton thoughts on wistful clouds disturb differing hues of blue
Emerald, limes, rusted umbers enhance breezes as they move
A whimsical dash of mottled fish engrossed in lifes harsh fight
To gather all required whilst avoiding, the silent fishers sight
A hand does stroke the waters as thoughtfully as a lovers face
Whilst oars and gentle droplets dance at such a soothing pace
Non returnable ripples travel onwards with no due care
Words, sights, scents, sounds, precious memories that we share
One day we will be but whisps that relished this cherished place
As lovers new will float on by with a fresh renewed embrace
And maybe if they are just like us they will sit and ponder on
Lovers who were once like them but now are sadly gone
Sunrise beach walkin'
no need for talkin'
when elements transcend all language.
My hand in your hand hold
seashells unswept by calm
receding tide
still swelling.
Burnt umbers stroke aqua
marines break through gull
wing thunder haloed
in hallowness.
No space for shallowness
much less for callowness
hope for tomorrow struts sure gently
proffered, dawn's break of night.
