Tuck Poems

Fryer Tuck

There once was a monk named Cur Plunk
Who frequently strayed from his bunk
He claimed he was drunk
And stunk like a skunk
'til his hunk of a trunk had shrunk

Tuck Tail

Maureen took her dog to the park
Where they were attacked by a lark
Maureen said, "Hey, Hark!
Why didn't you bark?"
But Hark was afraid of the dark!

Virtual Tuck-In

Appearing in pajamas
Right before they go to sleep,
My grandkids’ faces fill the screen
And oh, the joy I’ll reap!

While one gives a detailed run-down
Of what she has done that day,
Her big brother wants me watching
On his tablet while at play.

Technology allows me
Access to their night routines
As I track them in their bedrooms
On our separate iPhone screens.

There’s a very tiny window
When they’ll want to thus connect
But for now these FaceTime tuck-ins
Have a tickled-pink effect.

Premium MemberPolish Those Shoes and Tuck In That Shirt

Up every day well before five
if you plan to do more than survive
Polish those boots and tuck in that shirt
Don't let your C.O. see any dirt

Stand in the line-up ramrod straight
Don't move a muscle while you wait --
for the signal to take off at a trot
whether your joints be yet limber or not

Drills until nine before you can eat
make eggs every day seem like a treat
Then return to the field and the blazing sun
Oh, when-oh-when will the morning be done

Israel's military's sure tough to beat
Her soldiers unlikely to wilt in the heat

Avoirdupois

The endomorph enjoys our affection
as the comic figure of tradition.
Friar Tuck, Falstaff, and Old Toby
recall rotund revels and ribaldry.
Devils are always portrayed as thin.
the clown invariably has a double chin.
Unlike the hero, who's always victorious,
his wind and walk are somewhat laborious.
Though he's never very heroic,
who honestly ever loved a stoic?
Confronted by his conviviality
cynics think rather jealously:
'It's just that unlike the lean
he's much too slow to be mean.'

Wobbie Tuck

Errant steals,

like globular e-mocking,

stark Jabs in test,

wave's of sustainment globally casting flesh aside,

wantoness stops as
tubular horns row them all away...

Nickled as jells in the jangles,

wobbie in a talk in a mangle-

flippin' at it's angle',

crunch crockie crangle,

the bottle on a walk,

like a Laker in a stock.

'nip' and 'Tuck'

Have a close look, and what do you see?
Those lines on your face: Your history
All mapped out and years in the making
Your age is a number that needs celebrating

Some need help, here and there
Others don’t worry, or seem to care
At the end of the day, when all’s said and done
It’s the price you pay for having fun

Ageing gracefully as we travel through time
Can be a roll of the dice that blows your mind!
Is it your genes…… or just good luck?
Time will tell…… ‘if you need a nip and tuck’

Some people……‘just let go’
Then get depressed at the horror show
Those who can afford it……‘go under the knife’
In an effort to disguise their ageing and strife

Wear and tear; happens ‘my son’
So don’t get depressed when your youth has gone
It’s nice to grow old…… especially with your peers
So don’t start looking…… too young for your years!!

Premium MemberThe Night Will Tuck Us

You’re heart is so wide
Let love run inside
Allow the ruckus
The night will tuck us
And now--whoa
Your castle aglow
A light phenomenal
A world subliminal

We're always surrendering
We're always sleepy
But baby I need you purring
So come jump in my jeepy
