I don’t want to
Submit myself
To flashing ads
And transient script
From a digital screen,
I want to hold a real book,
Lose myself in its pages,
In a trancelike dream.

It came to me in moon’s soft shadow,
As it will at times, still as the frost
Withering the leaves, branches unsheltered,
Buried in embittered …
On December’s naked chill,
Startling the shadows
From forests who can fill
The heart with a sense of its
Melancholic mist, fading…
Into the echo of night’s brave
Silence, like a lost thought
Stuttering as it flies,
Right out of the mind, unbridled -
Free as the wind and just as passionate,
A winged morsel of a dream,
Never sure it will be, but always hopeful,
Praying in faith, believing
Despite the winter’s flakes,
That spring will sing its perfect grace…
Into hearts who keep on dreaming,
Seeing the sun melt away each doubt,
Breathing prayers of certainty,
In spite of all the reasons for putting
Away that trancelike state,
beneath layers of make believe!

A WAKE UP CALL
the sleep
of centuries
trancelike
induced
restlessness
delved the unconscience
ambivalence
a constant interplay
patterning
tranquil hours
inviolate
profiled
in revolutions
throes
THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE without grammatical symbols the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and respond thus making the form a two way interplay and often a unique interpretation by the enigma so derived

yellow bird is back to the tranquil meadow
where my soul finds a true repose,
she didn't leave me....
I speak to her every day,
she tweets back with glee!
we talk about the illusory flamboyant days
which tip-toed away in a veil,
the glistening saffron-hued days ~
when I was twenty-one,
with trancelike beat in my feet, enthralling song in my heart,
dreamy eyes unfolding beauty of love!
with amber kindness in my soul,
with tangerine hope in my voice,
with azure grace in my walk,
with vermillion exuberance in my dance.
that twenty-one is never really gone,
I feel its demure whispering,
the hope, the dream, the cadence, the beat,
it's incredible! never left me

Dreamlike,
So surreal my dream
I am floating in mid-air
Falling from my inter realm
A flying soul so ethereal
Felt ever unreal
I am amazed and in a hazy state
What is my faith
I'm falling to a new space
In another scheme a violent dream
I was asleep to the shadowy streams
Again floating me emerging sedated
Awakening
Subconscious now fully arose
And my cardinal state
For longer I meditate
Wait! crackling brights of light flames
Flooring soaring high stills feels like I'm dreaming
Flame circulate in my room
Of my home
Through the doorway appeared essence and fears
Am I at Hell's gate
Imaginary my fate
Fire scape
Wither free falling in space
Twixt heavens Glory and Gates
DreamLike state?
Questioning myself
Am I free falling floating to heaven
Or am I awakened eyes blazing lying in hell
Shall I awaken in this beautiful yet scary trancelike wake
I am, I was in a dreamlike state

Trancelike moments linger as I bid my time
a glimpse of angular contour, a face a smile
warmer then the melting sun his hand in mine
surreal in dreamlike state, his touch docile
as gentle as the rain that falls from heaven's lair
he, my imaginary lover my ethereal beau
is a memorized forbiddance, together we draw air
as we dance upon cloud nine without a care
Unreal as the twinkle of a star in heaven's realm
those hazy moments spent, devour me whole
they take me to a shadowy place beneath the elm
where we deflower every kiss, then lose control.

Aliferous Light
Fireflies glint yon verdures lush blades
in their trancelike swells midst farmlands
stilled beasts ... surreal stars charades
shadowy realm lone moon commands.
Zephyrs thrust e'er more, rousing whole
fireflies glint yon verdures lush blades
deign wrenched ... ethereal control
neath nascent twilight's hazy shades.
Winged beacons currents dusk evades
dreamlike bugs e'er so oft lithe frames,
fireflies glint yon verdures lush blades
where breeds unreal orphic claims.
Languor beetle's their temporal flights
... imaginary thoughts cascades
prompts a fond adieu, dimming lights,
fireflies glint yon verdures lush blades.

Dream the dreams that have never been dreamt. David Bower
And When You Choose to Dream
Go on wings of hope
Not tiny robins’ wings
but bold and tireless dragon wings,
ethereal, shadowy, intangible in the air.
Go to the hazy realms beyond the imaginary
beyond the trancelike spell of what is unattainable
Where the unreal becomes real,
even the dreamlike becomes surreal
Live on the words that bind your heart
Return - when you have the answers.

50 years have passed since birth
Seems unbelievable
Fleeting moments, moving fast
Past is HAZY
Mostly forgotten
Only few memories remain
Is this life real or IMAGINARY?
Am I real?
Are things actually happening?
Or
Are they DREAMLIKE, UNREAL?
Although I am fifty
Still many mysteries remain unresolved!
Who am I?
I can survive with artificial organs,
I can breathe with artificial respiration
I am surely not the body or breathe
Then who am I?
I want to see myself
Why am I hidden from view?
Morning to night, time flies
Although I live, life seems TRANCELIKE
Everything seems a figment of my own imagination, SURREAL
I feel I am a SHADOWY figure, ETHEREAL,
I will very soon disappear

Some lackadaisical days,
I sit peacefully still
in a trancelike state,
embarking on a spectacular,
unreal adventure
to an imaginary somewhere
far removed from
the present. My mind free as a bird
as I navigate through the hazy
and shadowy corridors
of the terra incognita, arriving
at a dreamlike no man's land;
an untouched, ethereal place
of wonder fit for a king!
Could this be heaven?
I'm meditating,
but it feels like I'm in
a surreal dream!

Dreaming
“Dreamlike”, I slipped deeper into an “imaginary” place -
A strange, silent, brooding, “surreal” castle,
Built into the side of a mountain in a land of perpetual snows,
And lighted only by “hazy”, flickering torches.
Deep into the “shadowy”, towering nimbus of
Doubt, depression, despair,
That dogged my every step.
Floating in “unreal” picture frames,
I travelled “trancelike” in search of Taktsang,
And the Tiger’s Nest,
Where I was told serenity and happiness abide.
Later, awakening to the sound of prayer wheels,
The sun had crested.
A shaven, monk in a saffron, “ethereal” robe,
Who has nothing, but has no need of anything,
Presented me with a chalice of fragrant tea
Infused with peace, that transfigured my soul.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18 of the King James Bible
Wrapped around my virtual mindfulness spree
I behold our special child basking in freedom
beyond dreamlike fantasy, verily ecstatic
zooming around park, designed for surreal venture.
Never unreal midst my faith-brightened vision
our son radiates exuberance against hazy ambiance
as he recites Bible verses, fortified with distinct gestures
only imaginary in skeptic unbelieving minds.
Outshining shadowy doubts, our young man prevails
sharing the Gospel, enunciating the love of God…
thus I delightfully see in seemingly trancelike enthrallment
while praying for miraculous occurrence, very possible.
Whether those are ethereal or celestial moments
To me, they are heavenly sublime wondrous merriments.

She found a hero in the book's shadowy schemes,
The detective who could enter the realm of dreams
She turned the pages of her imagination
As the book's surreal plot unfolded
It was in this dreamlike dimension
The fiend would be found,
In slumber his dreams would give him away
And her hero would be crowned
Then the plot took another twist
And her conclusions became hazy
She realized her assumptions were unreal
The lines became blurred in this imaginary zone
She finally reached the last chapter
in this twisted ethereal tale,
She stared at the book in a trancelike state;
Her hero was the villain she had come to hate!

Under a canopy of lime and teal,
Nature creates a hazy, dreamlike scene;
as dappled light fuels the surreal.
And with an ethereal spectral sheen:
the leaves appear gilded: no longer green.
Orange carpets the barren hoarfrost ground,
creating a hypnotic, trancelike feel;
treading upon Death's skin, crackled and browned.
And the frosty nights have a frigid feel;
even though Autumn seems so ideal.
A fantasy of color and shadows;
highlighted by scattered beams of sunlight:
colored leaves are destined to decompose.
And yet, like flickering fireflies in flight:
they compete with the twinkling stars at night.
