All Words Mean More
Than What You Heard
Them Say, Or
What You Said
They Would, Or
What You Thought
They Did, Or
What You Meant
They Say…

They Could
EXPLODE!

But Don’t Be
Too Careful…

They Aren’t
All Yours.

Miss my fam most days
don't know why..
blame it on the rain,
blame it on the sunshine.

Trust isn't an issue with me..
usually.
Just allow less access
'cause you can't be too careful
these days.

You have to look..
to find it in a heart
it's a game of chance
and odds..
so look hard.

If you want, or if you need
look deep,
most days.

My Introspection In Life

Now, in my old age
Life seems so lackadaisical
Everything I do I thought it wisely
Everything I do I'm too careful
Everything seems in slow motion
I've always thought about my ending here
I introspect, I recollect my days of youth
I would like to make forgiveness
To people I have done wrong
To think of goodbye is a temporary restrain
I'm taking my soul as my important keeping
I think of my good deeds now as keepsake
When my time will come, I'll be the most happy
Everything in my life now geared to spirituality
For I can say that without God and immortality
There is no truth in me, all that's in me means nothing.

Premium Member Monkeypox

I went to Walmart this morning - yes, it was very brave.
My dander was up - I was on high alert - for active shooters and the unmasked.

Then I saw him! A man on the cookie aisle - he looked like he had the monkeypox!
So, I kicked him in the nuts and ran - you can’t be too careful out there.

It turns out that he was just an 80-year-old retiree wearing a polka-dot shirt.
I apologized - from a safe distance - as the paramedics carted him away.

It felt like a close call.

Premium Member Oh My I Farted

I accidentally let one loose
in places you wouldn't imagine

last Sunday I left out a silent one in church
it must not of smelled too bad, cause no one noticed

while shopping at walmart
a little one squeaked it's way out
thank goodness i was in the clothing department
and not the grocery
someone might of thought the food was spoiled

the best one of all
was a silent, but deadly one
that built up for a long time
and finally exploded in the car
all windows went down
talk about a wakeup call
although it's freezing weather here
it was like the fart was frozen in mid air

So be careful who you sit by in church,
go grocery shopping with and
who you travel with in a car
You can never be too careful
of a little thing called gas
that can make a grand appearance or
a grand finale

"...if you are too careful love will not find you." ~Rumi

If you are not careful
Love will find you,

Like fire finds a tinder.

Premium Member My Poemless Pandemic

Poemless pandemic
vanished from PoetrySoup
hard to explain why

enough people read?
made enough of a difference?
that's what I figured

gave up will power
personal diagnosis:
severe mental block

worried what to write
hibernating -- surviving
too careful to post

most people wrote MORE
but I deleted; withdrew :O
"social distancing"

pages and pages
of my painstaking feelings
unsaved, unarchived

so out with the old
and yet, no in-with-the-new
let go of it all

as others revealed
I concealed, sharing nothing
time passed, un-described

missed Anthology:
my chance to publish a poem :(
maybe next time though? :)

relief, or regret? :(
I didn't save them... :O
except... Christmas one :)

it's like the starter --
to keep the process going,
like warm friendship bread :D

kneading the keyboard
baking up delicious words
passing on sweetness

can't get old poems back
the art of writing poems, though:
compulsion, hunger

can't live without this
starting from scratch, all over
tired of poemlessness

Premium Member Special Moments By Grand Minter

A young man who wishes to remain a sound Atheist cannot be too careful of his reading. There are traps everywhere – “Bibles laid open, millions of surprises,” as Herbert says, fine nets and stratagems.” God is, if I may say it, very unscrupulous.

— C.S. Lewis SURPRISED BY JOY pg. 191

SPECIAL MOMENTS BY GRAND MINTER

Amphitheater snowflakes whirl.
This working girl beset by pearls.
Best December Eve sourced Winter.
I’m surprised of joy by hinter.

Arthritic knees chase a grand dream.
Playground resounds with princess theme.
This castle with childhood splinters.
I’m surprised of joy by hinter.

Figurines and paintings accurs’d
in the soulfulness of Christ birth’d.
Special moments by grand minter.
Surprised of joy by hinter.

Premium Member A Gardeners Invited and Uninvited Guests

I’ve a garden full of uninvited guests; time to weed.

Tobacco worm, on my tomato plant, don’t spit at me;
you were not invited to partake of my produce!

Mr. Milkweed, why do you love my yard? Your sticky secretions make me itch; I do not want you in my cabbage.

Mr. Beetle, I gave no permission for your party; your rowdy friends must go. They won’t allow my beans to grow.

Ms. Wood betony, you may stay; your nutty flavor and fresh dandelion leaves, will enhance my garden salad. It was nice of you to drop by for lunch.

Ah, a lovely dog rose; how did you know that other uninvited guests,
were giving me a headache? I’ll harvest your medicinal berries to cure it.
You too, may stay; oh, how I love rose hip tea.

With uninvited guests, you can’t be too careful or too picky. Some are good, others bad; but I will not…be spat at, without retaliation!

Here, Mr. Coopers hawk, have a tobacco worm and leave those bunnies alone! I plant extra lettuce and carrots for them.

Heart Box

I keep my heart
in a box
Lined in lead
triple locked

Can't be too careful
you know these days
With Kryptonite
and what girls say

My heart's been hurt
so many times
I had the lead
velvet lined

To give it somewhere
soft to lay
Until it feels
it feels okay

My heart you see
can indeed
Be the most
peculiar thing

Softened in
its tender parts
Hardened from
all the hurt

Hence the box
triple locked
Lined in lead
for this poor heart

Turtles - My Spirit Guide

Turtles in my dreams
guide me wisely
to be patient and peaceful
and to look before I leap out
while I walk the path of my life.
No matter if the sky turns gloomy
with flashes of horror
and pours down dolour,
drenching the soil
into uneasy pathway.
They tell me to be persistent.
Symbol of wisdom they are
as they enrich me with
emotional strength
in moments of disturbing chaos.

In a world of fast pace
where the very hares
move around with wind wings
affixed to their feet
and act as swift runners
in the race of achievements,
have mocked me
to be lazy and too careful.
What they forget is
the race has been won
by a slow pace gambit, long ago.
Slow maybe but I do hope
to reach the finish line
as they, my spirit guide turtles
wave me the flag of victory.

The Hypochondriac

Swathed in bandages from head to toe
That cut on my finger could go septic you know
I’m not really touting for any attention
It’s a guard against certain, imminent infection

Prevention is better than cure, I’ve always said
Remember what happened to poor old Uncle Fred
He went into hospital after a coughing bout
Popped his clogs and never came out

You can never be too careful in this day and age
A runny nose can go on the rampage
Before you know it, the common cold
Has become an epidemic, killing young and old

I was surfing the internet the other day
And couldn’t believe all the ailments on display
I’ve had most; if not all; of those medical terms
If I wasn’t so ill......I’d do a Masters in germs

Optimism

Optimism can be a blessing in disguise
If you’re not careful it can turn to arrogance
If you are too careful it can dwindle to the smallest hope
Optimism has to have a balance or it can become dangerous
It can create a whole new experience in your world
Or destroy your world in a split second.

Memories Keep Coming Back

Memories Keep Coming Back

I looked back upon my life today
I had nothing else to do
There were a lot of doors
Left unopened and not used

But the one I remember most
Was the door that led to you
It had fancy carvings here and there
A nice warm inviting view

Yes, I opened up that door
And we had ourselves a time
You and I together
My heart yours and your heart mine

It was only me the fool
That believed such fantasy
You were never mine alone
It just took some time to see

Ah yes that was the door
That I finally had to close
You had found another
And so the story goes

Yes I closed it very hard indeed
You could almost hear it crack
I saw it fade into the distance
But the memories kept coming back

I couldn’t seem to keep it closed
And there are times I just lose track
And if I am not too careful
The memories just keep coming back

How Death Comes

Sleep is his other name
We know he lives near by
He shows up at any time
With his bag to steal the lives

He comes like as a thief
When we least expect him
He doesn’t inform any of the time
Sometimes we predict from the signs

If we see him we’d chase him
Then crucify him if we catch him
So that he never wakes again
O that vile enemy of men

He stings like a bee
Whosoever he sees
Both young and old
Even they who have gold

The chief thief who steals the most valued treasure
Leaving behind agony and hopeless minds further withered
On one side shocked and frightened, the other caught in disbelief
If death was a person, tell me who’d dare forgive?

Who can be too careful?
Who can be too wise?
To evade him in his alluring disguise?
Who can find his sting less painful?

Generation after generation endeavor
To eliminate him from among us
But it seems he is here to stay
So maybe we should leave this place.
