As the world unfurls
iN REMbrandt's muddy pastel
Little Susie curls her knees
right on cue, credence that
there's clear water here, a
revival of Hawkins and
Burton's swamp spell
When I tried to leave her
dream, she called back:
'Freddy, come save me'
I know that it's cruel to
replace her, though her
night terrors are negotiated,
I awaken her fears

Sister Susie sewed so many shirts for soldiers,
She sometimes suffered serious SSD.
That’s sewing stress disorder, so stressed out Susie says;
Something seamstresses all suffer from you see.
So sixty shirtless soldiers stood shivering in the snow,
While sewer Susie stopped and took a rest.
One sympathetic soldier, sad at sister Susie’s stress,
Sent Sue a saucy snapshot, standing shyly in his vest

Susie’s skirts now conceal her behind
(most of it), and she’s not so inclined
to get drunk and start fights
at the bars. She delights
in declaring, “Look, y’all. I’m refined!

Susie slipped bits of food into her apron pockets.
Ran down to the pond, with her prettiest lockets.
Showed the baby ducks her loot, crackers and stuff.
She likes animals so well said her Grandma Luff.
The ducks liked her too, they surrounded her each time.
Knowing they would get food, a pat and a friendly rhyme.
Susie had Ritz crackers today, a huge amazing tasty treat.
I love this two-legged being said a duck named Reet.

Anti-Poem – “At Pinks With Little Susie”
maybe if we hold hands the dizziness will go away
little susie be driving a ‘62 gray pontiac grand prix
she say driving is easy once you get the hang of it
tan nyloned legs caress the gas pedal with mettle
flying fast now she stops at melrose and van ness
susie say she feels sick and thinks it’s the roadkill
i just hit something bad she say it ain’t alive now
maybe if we play parcheesi all day it will go away
my problems be like sticky ants she say they stay
susie parks the pontiac in a shaded lot on la brea
she says she wants a pinks hot dog and a yoohoo
cool guys with duck tails and taps hang out there
their scarf-wearing chicks smoke filter cigarettes
susie thinks life is a vicious monster with no eyes
it just attacks and kills everyday and everywhere
susie say her hot dog tastes good tastes like love
will you marry me susie i says suddenly laughing
maybe if we marry all the bad things will go away
little susie be driving home now holding my hand

When I was nine the Little Remco Red Spinning Wheel was out.
Every Saturday morning it was shown to be the best toy since Barbie.
My mother secretly ordered it for Christmas; my heart gave a shout.
I told every friend I was getting it – Lois, Patty, Stumpy, and Arbie.
Christmas, and there was no Little Remco Red Spinning Wheel for me.
Every girl child in America except my identical twin wanted it you see.
I was devastated, annoyed, upset, disappointed, and instantly sad.
Only one who did not notice was probably my Christmas-loving Dad.
No teacher was politically correct then, Mrs.Tot was certainly not.
We kids took turns standing beside our desk, telling everything we got.
Susie S. listed about sixty thousand things that day and then said.
The stupidest gift I got was a little Remco spinning wheel, Red.
My ears flushed, my face hot, I was jealous as I had ever been.
I knew not to even glance at Magill, my all-knowing identical twin.
My heart knew jealousy that day like I have never known again.
Thinking about Susie S. to this day makes my heart give an angry spin.

I had a rival whose name was 'Susie'
The streetwalker I'd nicknamed 'the floozie'
Through the night she would strut
Wiggling her pudgy butt
If only I'd been holding an Uzi!
One night Susie and I had quite a spat
She called me a brat. I chided, "You're fat!"
But when she pulled my hair
I felt my temper flare
Bellowed at her, "Susie, you're not all that!"'
She said I was such an annoying prig
I tore off her cheesy Barbie Doll wig
Her horse teeth were gnashing
as she lay there, thrashing
Squealing much louder than a suckling pig.
Told her I knew her buxom boobs were fake
She shrieked like a witch, burning at the stake
I turned to walk away
That's when I heard her say
"You'd better be afraid of me, Cupcake!"
I stopped and glared into her startled face
Susie cringed as I stepped into her space
I smiled with hands on hips
Laughed at her trembling lips
Then calmly whispered, "Name the time and place."

Jerry was gung-ho, root’n toot’n
Loved Susie, who was high fallut’n.
They had a big fight
He would not eat right
She wanted him to eat only gluten.

I volunteered in a soup kitchen to help the needy;
the homeless and the lonely, the addicts and the seedy.
For me in the kitchen, it was a place to socialize,
while I was helping out with many others doing likewise.
Susie James who is a single girl had trouble finding work.
Susie volunteers her time so, she is not one who will shirk,
helping out and giving smiles when handing out the soup,
and so becoming well respected in amongst our group.
Alas Susie admitted, with some sorrow in her voice,
when it comes to men she is forever making a wrong choice.
Susie explained that men she’s drawn too always have to lie,
for they are either married or have partners that is why.
So when a young man unbeknown has entered to assist,
Susie’s eyes were roving and she just could not resist,
to call this handsome man across to us and he didn’t balk,
and I heard the conversation as the pair of them did talk.
The first thing Susie asked him; “Are you a married man?”
“Not in the eyes of man”, he said, when answering dead pan.
‘So this man’s not married’, Susie smiled. ‘That’s a start at least’.
“Do you work?” And he replied, “Oh yes, I am a priest”.

My favorite pet was Susie the goat
who had the softest pure white coat
We purchased her when she was in kid
the newborns copied what Susie did
They devoured the grass, each on a tether
but stayed in the shed in inclement weather
Susie's favorite food was ripe bananas
but she'd nibble the washing, even pa's pyjamas!
She gave us many pints of sweet goats milk
which was creamy white and smooth as silk
It's been many years since I lost my pet
Susie was a birthday gift I'll never forget!
*****We lived on a small holding and I asked for a goat for my 13th birthday****

Once upon a time, Susie squirrel
Saw an awkward, gray mouse named mutt
The initial attraction was
Because she thought he was a nut!
Little mouse Mutt, was a bit slow,
The butt of many a wise crack
Crawling around once for a week
With a "Kick me" sign on his back!
Mutt gave her an adoring look
She said, "Behind you is a cat!"
Then she scooted up an old oak tree
And so that was the end of that!

When Death, the vast unknown, and all therein
Whose thoughts tremor feel I without reserve,
Always has been this strain upon my skin,
Absent courage and woe do strike a nerve.
Alas, when I’m with you, I fear Death not,
In short a time, my fear, I do suspend,
To be with thine, whose zeal I love a lot
Thy feel, thy touch, do make all dread transcend.
A test to know my love, in sooth, is real
Innate, with love, so filled, Death hath no clout,
For all, love poor, fear hath too much to deal
The world may end, yet I, remain devout.
To keep her long, I free myself of me,
Only thy heart hath to look once, here be.

Because I know you, I have it made.
Susie, you are the prettiest girl in second grade.
I would rather be with you than another boy.
While I have known you, I’m filled with joy.
In school, you are always nearby and handy.
I’ll share my lunch with you. I’ll buy you candy.
Everything about you is sweet and dandy.
I see you prefer me over your girl friends.
My liking for you looks like it never ends.
“Precocious” is what the teacher calls me.
Do you know the meaning of the word? It’s a mystery.

Peering from high
She stops in to say
I'm still here don't worry
Just floating instead of walking today.
My cousin, my sister, my blood.
She graced us with her purity
She loved unconditionally
And always gave us a sense of security.
Way up high she flew in the snow.
On her way to sweet home.
Family packed and all belted in
Now they all fly and roam.
A family of four they stuck together
A team of love they reigned
I suppose God had a plan for them
Now in Heaven they are contained.
I smile as I dream of her
Knowing that they protect
Our family from here on out
I have nothing but great RESPECT.
They all had a heart of gold.
They were nothing but good.
I vowed to lead my life the same way.
That part I understood.
The children giggle still
Susie still loves fashion
Her husband still protects
They are the meaning of passion.

For only a few summer months out of the year,
I can always find a pretty girl working here.
She is the type of gal most guys see in a dream.
I see her every summer day scooping ice cream.
Sundaes, cones, sodas, there is nothing she can’t serve.
I want to speak to her, but I can’t get the nerve.
Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or peach,
many other flavors are within her reach.
A sundae or cone she can serve me any day.
If I could get her attention, is there a way?
I always look forward to the summer season.
Susie at the ice cream parlor is the reason.
