Best Susie Poems
She was the smallest of all the angels
although all the other angels were at
least five feet tall,
Susie the angel was no larger than a Barbie doll.
She was by far the cutest of all the Angels
but little Susie was a little sad this Christmas Season.
She had wings that's for sure, so she could reach
the top of Christmas trees but the toppers
were always too heavy which made Susie sad.
She spoke to the other Angels about it
of course they all offered to help her.
Susie explained she was thankful
but she really wanted to do it on her own.
That's when it happened Susie
right then and there became the first
Angel to shed a tear.
She had turned so no one saw,
but Susie felt badly.
The next day while alone Susie
thought of her troubles and it happened
again, except this time it was many tears.
"Wait" Susie thought "my tears sparkle".
So she thought more about her sadness.
More and more tears flowed.
That is when Susie realized this was all meant to be.
The next morning Susie visited her favorite homes
as she flew over the trees and spread her tears.
From that day on their were changes.
All Christmas trees would sparkle with
the glitter of Susie's magic.
Susie wasn't sad at all she wasn't even crying.
She had been picked to be the Christmas Angel.
The one that made all trees sparkle.
Now Susie no longer worried about placing toppers.
To honor Susie changes were made to Christmas trees.
They were topped with a star that resembled her tears
or a small Angel just like Suzie, one that made
the whole tree glitter.

Narrative
I volunteered in a soup kitchen to help the needy;
the homeless and the lonely, the addicts and the seedy.
For me in the kitchen, it was a place to socialize,
while I was helping out with many others doing likewise.
Susie James who is a single girl had trouble finding work.
Susie volunteers her time so, she is not one who will shirk,
helping out and giving smiles when handing out the soup,
and so becoming well respected in amongst our group.
Alas Susie admitted, with some sorrow in her voice,
when it comes to men she is forever making a wrong choice.
Susie explained that men she’s drawn too always have to lie,
for they are either married or have partners that is why.
So when a young man unbeknown has entered to assist,
Susie’s eyes were roving and she just could not resist,
to call this handsome man across to us and he didn’t balk,
and I heard the conversation as the pair of them did talk.
The first thing Susie asked him; “Are you a married man?”
“Not in the eyes of man”, he said, when answering dead pan.
‘So this man’s not married’, Susie smiled. ‘That’s a start at least’.
“Do you work?” And he replied, “Oh yes, I am a priest”.

For only a few summer months out of the year,
I can always find a pretty girl working here.
She is the type of gal most guys see in a dream.
I see her every summer day scooping ice cream.
Sundaes, cones, sodas, there is nothing she can’t serve.
I want to speak to her, but I can’t get the nerve.
Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or peach,
many other flavors are within her reach.
A sundae or cone she can serve me any day.
If I could get her attention, is there a way?
I always look forward to the summer season.
Susie at the ice cream parlor is the reason.

With a wink and a nod
Through the door with a wiggle and a smile
Hey what’s up
Gonna get juiced need my purple high t’night
Oh Sweet sugar oh sweet Susie
You light my fire
Just a girl after a bad ass bass player
Come on and stroke the night
Wauka wauka
Come on and rock the night
Wauka wauka
Just a little tease and delight
Lean over and take a peek
Your eyes hypnotize
Turn me into a freak tonight
On her hands and knees begging for it please
Your fingers dance make me feel so right
Your lips and that tongue got my attention
Its only a matter of time before your giving satisfaction
One more stroke fills the air into a hot and sticky night
Wauka wauka
Come on and rock the night
Wauka wauka
Just a little tease and delight

My favorite pet was Susie the goat
who had the softest pure white coat
We purchased her when she was in kid
the newborns copied what Susie did
They devoured the grass, each on a tether
but stayed in the shed in inclement weather
Susie's favorite food was ripe bananas
but she'd nibble the washing, even pa's pyjamas!
She gave us many pints of sweet goats milk
which was creamy white and smooth as silk
It's been many years since I lost my pet
Susie was a birthday gift I'll never forget!
*****We lived on a small holding and I asked for a goat for my 13th birthday****

Susie was inspired by the Beijing Paralympics,
To pursue her talent at swimming, to train hard,
So she was classified as an S7, deformed limbs,
And won three medals in London, one in Rio.
She has a BA in languages from Newcastle,
Which she uses in her British Council work,
And first appeared in Berlin city at the Euros,
In Germany’s 2011 IPC Championships.
In London she won freestyle bronze 100m,
Another bronze for the 400 metres freestyle,
And yet another bronze for the 4x100m relay,
Also free - it’s where you do the front crawl.
In the French city of Montreal in Canada,
Quebec, Susie secured 1 gold and 4 silvers,
Gold for the 4x100m freestyle relay 34pts,
Silvers for 50, 100, 400 free and for 50 fly.
In 2014 in Eindhoven in the Netherlands,
Susie took five golds: the 50m butterfly,
The 50, 100 and the 400 metres freestyle,
And another for the 100m freestyle relay.
Then in Glasgow at the IPC Worlds 2015,
Susie won a gold 4x100m medley relay,
Also a bronze for the 100 metres freestyle,
So Funchal 2016 (Euros) came naturally.
In Funchal which exists on Madeira island,
Susie took five golds: the 50 metres butterfly,
The 50m, the 100m and the 400m freestyle,
And another for the medley relay, the 100m.
So in Rio she rejoiced when she won gold,
In the 50m butterfly in a time of 35.07 secs;
She could not believe it because she’s 33,
And intended to retire after London 2012.

Blank verse
I had a rival whose name was 'Susie'
The streetwalker I'd nicknamed 'the floozie'
Through the night she would strut
Wiggling her pudgy butt
If only I'd been holding an Uzi!
One night Susie and I had quite a spat
She called me a brat. I chided, "You're fat!"
But when she pulled my hair
I felt my temper flare
Bellowed at her, "Susie, you're not all that!"'
She said I was such an annoying prig
I tore off her cheesy Barbie Doll wig
Her horse teeth were gnashing
as she lay there, thrashing
Squealing much louder than a suckling pig.
Told her I knew her buxom boobs were fake
She shrieked like a witch, burning at the stake
I turned to walk away
That's when I heard her say
"You'd better be afraid of me, Cupcake!"
I stopped and glared into her startled face
Susie cringed as I stepped into her space
I smiled with hands on hips
Laughed at her trembling lips
Then calmly whispered, "Name the time and place."

Susie strutted through short brown grass,
clucking and scratching with intent.
Searching for a worm of high class
filled with a luscious green content.
Susie tripped over a green bug
that appeared scrawny - very weak.
He promptly advised a fat slug,
that would look nice between her beak.
Susie declined to let bug go,
but words sounded so alluring.
She knew that slugs were very slow,
that made it still more assuring.
Susie set to search on dry ground
for slug to add to her cuisine.
At once remembered they are found
where grass is lively, wet, and green.

Because I know you, I have it made.
Susie, you are the prettiest girl in second grade.
I would rather be with you than another boy.
While I have known you, I’m filled with joy.
In school, you are always nearby and handy.
I’ll share my lunch with you. I’ll buy you candy.
Everything about you is sweet and dandy.
I see you prefer me over your girl friends.
My liking for you looks like it never ends.
“Precocious” is what the teacher calls me.
Do you know the meaning of the word? It’s a mystery.

When I was nine the Little Remco Red Spinning Wheel was out.
Every Saturday morning it was shown to be the best toy since Barbie.
My mother secretly ordered it for Christmas; my heart gave a shout.
I told every friend I was getting it – Lois, Patty, Stumpy, and Arbie.
Christmas, and there was no Little Remco Red Spinning Wheel for me.
Every girl child in America except my identical twin wanted it you see.
I was devastated, annoyed, upset, disappointed, and instantly sad.
Only one who did not notice was probably my Christmas-loving Dad.
No teacher was politically correct then, Mrs.Tot was certainly not.
We kids took turns standing beside our desk, telling everything we got.
Susie S. listed about sixty thousand things that day and then said.
The stupidest gift I got was a little Remco spinning wheel, Red.
My ears flushed, my face hot, I was jealous as I had ever been.
I knew not to even glance at Magill, my all-knowing identical twin.
My heart knew jealousy that day like I have never known again.
Thinking about Susie S. to this day makes my heart give an angry spin.

We had nothing in common when I met Susie that first day
She had never been to Rodgers, Arkansas, where my relatives stay
We tried to find commonality, but it was not easy at all.
Roommates who gave up on each other most of that first fall.
Her parents were killed in a wreck in November.
I became a close friend, picking up her pieces in December.
At Christmas she came home with me, for she had no place to go.
It was calm in Rodger, with only the lightest of snow.
She liked the local Malt Shop so well, she decided to stay.
She worked for the owners for a year, in just the right way.
I came home and visited her when on my Christmas breaks.
She bought the entire shop, because she had what it takes.
The malt shop gave her a family, a connection to the town.
With its happy red leather seats, and chrome fixtures all around.
The 1950’s rock and roll music helped to keep her upbeat and happy.
She married a local preacher who was a friend of my pappy.
So in a way, her entire life was influenced by little old me.
And I learned a lesson that was instant and entirely free.
Never give up on a stranger, they might become your best friend.
This is what happened to me and Susie Q in the end.

When Death, the vast unknown, and all therein
Whose thoughts tremor feel I without reserve,
Always has been this strain upon my skin,
Absent courage and woe do strike a nerve.
Alas, when I’m with you, I fear Death not,
In short a time, my fear, I do suspend,
To be with thine, whose zeal I love a lot
Thy feel, thy touch, do make all dread transcend.
A test to know my love, in sooth, is real
Innate, with love, so filled, Death hath no clout,
For all, love poor, fear hath too much to deal
The world may end, yet I, remain devout.
To keep her long, I free myself of me,
Only thy heart hath to look once, here be.

Susie’s skirts now conceal her behind
(most of it), and she’s not so inclined
to get drunk and start fights
at the bars. She delights
in declaring, “Look, y’all. I’m refined!

Once upon a time, Susie squirrel
Saw an awkward, gray mouse named mutt
The initial attraction was
Because she thought he was a nut!
Little mouse Mutt, was a bit slow,
The butt of many a wise crack
Crawling around once for a week
With a "Kick me" sign on his back!
Mutt gave her an adoring look
She said, "Behind you is a cat!"
Then she scooted up an old oak tree
And so that was the end of that!
