Sucker Poems

Soul Sucker

She was a vampire; we hung together for a while.
Not a drop of my blood dripped from her lips,
and yet, gradually my soul,

(that wise infant who has taken up
temporary residences in the hovel of my ego),

was sucked like a hapless Mayfly
under her brooding wings.

Little by little
she drained my youthful spirit away
with her 'pity me' hungers,

(a vicious need to bring everyone down
to her own level of misery).

Until
exhausted by her constant tales of woe
I drove a silver lining deep into her heart.

O how she screamed, as a ray of sunny daylight
shattered her sulky sucky-ness.

I left her there
dangling from those manipulative spiderwebs
of her self-loathing,
and fled
with my soulful man-child still intact.

Blood Sucker

I once thought you were powerful
Elusive
As smart and as quick as Dracula himself
You kept me with your gaze
And your wanton touch

Shiny things a little at a time
kept me like a worm on a hook
But after awhile I saw the truth
You are no vampire
You are a mosquito

Thumb Sucker

A grown man sucking his thumb
Was laugh at and called a bum
He couldn't believe
The hate he'd received
And though those people were dumb

Sucker Punch

Death is at my bedroom door
It doesn’t have to knock
doesn’t have to show its face,
I can feel its presence...
Should I open and embrace eternity,
Or for a few more breaths suffer mortality?

Frittered chick peas with a pucker,
I’ll have seconds it’s no bother;
Devoured like a boss;
Rice or with yogurt sauce,
just call me a falafel sucker.

Premium MemberA Sucker For Musicals

I am a sucker for musicals
A vexation for I neither sing or dance well.
They are my favorite form of entertainment
Possibly because I also cannot
play the flute, piano, saxophone
or be a conductor or a choreographer
Musicals or uplifting and delightful tome
in spite of my obvious limitations

Butt ugly critter
Don’t see your dinner in me
Rolled up magazine
Mr Bug don’t think me mean
I’m not a vending machine

Butt ugly critter
My manic swipe went astray
Gin and tonic flew
Be afraid, I’ll get you too
I shan’t be dinner for you

Butt ugly critter
I know you’re somewhere near
Flat you should have been
Back of the neck, went unseen
Seems I’m a vending machine

A famous boxer received a punch
That made his brain box crunch
He fell in the ring
When he heard the bell ding
Then the victor went out to lunch

Premium MemberSucker Punch

I usually see them coming
this one caught me by surprise.
It hit me in the back of my melon
right between the eyes.

A cheap shot was extended
bludgeoned from behind.
Directly above an area
where the sun has never shined.

I need to be more careful
the tiny dancer keeps watch.
I guess it could have been worse
I could have caught one in the crotch.

Tomorrow is a brand new day
off the clock and out to lunch.
I have new friends that watch my back
for the dreaded sucker punch.

marvelous day
                               inside;

pollinating coronavirus
somewhere outdoors

nose smudges on my reflection,
glass of Springtime refection

lipstick on window — sucker fish;
I forfeit a sunny payday

What are the soul suckers
 that forcibly cleave to you?
What do they mean to you?
Why do you let them steal from you?
How many more times
will they make a meal of you?

Is it television,
or Harlequin Romance books?
Perhaps it’s gambling on your looks?
Maybe it’s wealth or obsessive health
that has attached its hooks?

Be suspect of anything,
that prevents you from being who you are.
That obsession with driving the right car,
the adoration of beautiful people at the bar.
All those pretend pretty things won’t get you far.
Self pleasure, leads in the wrong direction,
away from the True North Star.

That empty feeling,
the loneliness quake,
all it does is take take take!
Can you feel it make your soul shake?
Do you wonder about the decisions you make?
You were born for far more,
soul suckers won’t relieve your heart ache.
They entice you with fake,
preventing you from realizing what’s at stake.
Open your eyes friend,
don’t be deceived by the snake.
He’s there to sap your power
and doesn’t want you to wake.
In the end all he offers
is a fiery lake!

Premium MemberI Am a Sucker For

I am a sucker for
musical comedies, musical chairs,
and decorated music boxes.

I am a sucker for
baby oil, baby blankets, homemade
baby booties, and babies.

I am a sucker for glitter,
glitziness, and glitter glue.

I am a sucker for shiny things
Shiny bumpers, shiny windows,
shiny lakes, shiny snow, and shiny stars

I am a sucker for games
Monopoly, Cadoo, Life, Chess,
Uno, Old Maid.

I guess I am just a sucker.

Sugar Daddy Sucker
By: Tom
2014

The thought has occurred to me lately
That life is just one big “Ol Sugar Daddy Sucker”
you take your "licken" each day until your finished,
And I’ve got mine licked down to the stick
