Light larkish lackadaisical lassie lithe and lean
Measured Mesopotamia’s millionth mammoth, not all mean
Nonetheless, noticing the level of lithium in a coffee bean,
Opposing ornery ocelots who are seldom city seen
Providing palatable parables to Patty, platypus who loves to preen
Quarreling with irksome quail-herders who captivated lassie’s queen
Resisting relatives reaching for gardenia’s gruesome globs of green
Stalwart soldiers seriously slicing sluggishness from a computer screen.

A sip of the elixir that invigorates the soul.
The euphoria that it gives calms the nerves.
A fuel of one's enthusiasm to face a new day.
Waker of one's slumbering blood.
Like a burning sunrise that sets the mood,
its glowing reflection stirs the spirits
to dip within the depth of its warmth
and burn the roots of sluggishness.
Where bursting figures desire to be lean,
it fits the path towards the flinty goal,
for, it awakens even the drowsing souls,
to flex and stretch their limpy limbs.

Flourish,
Flourishing as the sun shining you daily
Rejoicing as abundant rain watering your fields
and creating some dams
for farming fish and feeding your animals.
You are burgeoning in the eyes
of some lazy folks
who have big mouths
to talk senseless speeches in the streets
and forgetting their arable lands
which are fitting for industrial agriculture.
Flourish,
Oh! Laughing deafeningly sometimes
when I focus on some tête -à-tête debates
Which concern poverty in rich continent like Africa.
Some folks suffering because of some circumstances
and others dependence due to sluggishness.
Flourish,
DRCongo has more billionaire businessmen
and some politicians
who keep their money in their mansions
and banks
in Europe, Asia America and other African countries...
Other rich people hide their money under the grounds
than investing in industrial fishing and agriculture
and infrastructures to uplift
the economy of the Country.

Sloth’s Steaming Sin
Sluggishness slitters solely straightforward
Sedentary survival styles scold, strain
Self-centeredness - sloth’s shinning standard
Squandering silvers… spiritual sprain

I broke
my proper thumb
within venial borders
a shear from a bygone era
on your
tip of the iceberg
you spread a ruffle in my
bleeding shadows
we steer
the flow
on with the ebb and tideway
cutter with sawtoothed teeth
the scorn
of buoyant tethering
In a state of torpidity

A BRIAN STRAND 1098 Poetry Contest
Sponsored by: Brian Strand
THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE without grammatical symbols the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and respond thus making the form a two way interplay and often a unique interpretation by the enigma so derived. ( Poem inspired by Poet Brian Strand Form)

Grieving an emotional bind
Curtain hung to guard heart and mind
Fraught with sadness, loss and pure blind
With pain of a loved one combined
Cruel effects on God's temple
Sleeplessness and absence ample
Of hunger, broken-heart angel
Flood-gate unleash in its chapel
Feelings of hopeless hopelessness
Deep loneliness and worthlessness
Emptiness leaving sluggishness
Withdrawn in complete hollowness
Veil of the heart volume apiece
Set the Spirit to life and peace

I am on a little stay-cation.
No plans. None.
Melting into my chair, my eyes close.
This is a napping house.
We keep it dark for the TV advantage.
It is easy to not know if it is day or night with our black-out curtains.
I can go back to lull-a-bye land all day long if I want to.
The glory of staying up all night or just way too late is, no one comes here.
This sluggishness and sloth-like behavior is taking a toll.
I am annoyed at my ability to watch six Andy Griffith shows back-to-back.

Acid reflux.
Swollen ankles.
Arthritic feet.
Try not to get old.
Extra weight.
Bad teeth.
Unhappy gums.
Stay young as long as you can.
Sluggishness.
Apathy.
Indifference.
Okay, now, people, we’re getting into choices now.
Choose wisely.

I’m better because,
I’m positive
I build the right frame of mind
I dream big
I’m a believer
I’m benevolent
I’m bold
I’m like the rainbow.
There are
no sinking feelings
sluggishness
back-biting
or retrogresses

As lilac lace conjures softness
as forest's green sparks with life
walk in splendor with one heart
be humble in your fondness - for
sluggishness arises - when love for granted haps
when lilac lace is fading - and the tree spark's dim
life's serenade will whisper - tis not a time to linger
Allow your hearts refreshment - lock your eyes again
seek the continuity - of devotion's tenderness
strike the match demurely - slow burning - more endures
trusting not to numbness - forgiveness enters in
the heavens count for all concerned - it's showers bringing forth
stability - the leveling - of love's maturity
life's passions shared - like petals picked
God's orations loud - kindness - sets the bouquet
His essence wafting in
