Sleepwalking through the day
there’s a heavy price to pay
Tapping into feelings within her
opportunity gone-a-glimmer
Friendships never formed
lives never transformed
Delicacies swallowed whole
unseen flight of the oriole
George walked by us neighbors one night.
Our husbands were shocked at the sight,
for this uncouth dude
was lewd, crude, and nude.
We wives tried to hide our delight.
The angry men yelled, “Hey, you freak!"
Oblivious, George didn't speak.
He stared straight ahead
then went home to bed.
He'd stroll again, bare, the next week.
The problem, recalls Dr. Dover,
was BAD but, soon afterwards, over.
Doc watched George and found
him walking around
asleep, so some pills cured this rover.
The neighborhood men are quite glad
no naked man’s making them mad.
While breathing a sigh,
relieved, they ask why
we wives have just lately seemed sad.
I find myself becoming more and more distracted.
Taking a sheet of paper and tearing off the corner.
Then tearing off the torn part again.
I remember that time…
It’s like when…
I find myself becoming more and more distracted.
Like footprints spaced farther and farther apart.
In the corner of my eye, I’m-
Leaning against the counter and the
counter is sinking into the floor.
I don’t remember waking up from that, but I did.
Waking up, but I can’t talk.
Falling asleep, but it feels wrong.
It’s too chaotic to sleep.
I think I sleepwalk.
But they think I’m just weird.
I think I am now…
But they don’t believe me.
Am I aware of who I am?
Or just an animal, following after my next meal
Sleepwalking
If all I do is what I’m told
Am I really alive at all?
Sleepwalking
Guiding me in the night
Chasing after the next meaningless goal
Sleepwalking
One step at a time
Until something wakes me up
From this daytime nightmare
Sleepwalking
Until I awake
And break free from everything known
Saša Milivojev - SLEEPWALKING
Silent
The Skies are silent
The Moon awakes me
The Night gently embraces me
You are no longer on the shore
Where with salt ourselves we smeared
Dreamed and to the Sea we used to croon
Oh, my Beloved,
Unfold
For me the stairs of the Moon
Plush toys I shall scatter
Down our dunes of sand
The memories are calling me
Wait for me

The radiant girl looks down submissive
A smile that's flirtatious, not aggressive
She suddenly lurches forward
Fell onto the floor awkward
Facedown nude waking up delusive

My brothers & sisters are sleep walking
and soon will wake up and notice
that they’ve overslept.
Rushing to put on their Sunday best
bursting through the door &
running for salvation
but by the time they reach the gate
you find that the gentiles have taken your place
Perhaps your salvation is corrupt.
They have no intent on saving us
Fools cannot feed you if their wisdom comes from a place
Of bondage.
Pastors teaching the same doctrine that their oppressors
taught in the day of slavery.
Now tell me how that’s going to wake up my people.

Life feels surreal, a sleepwalking dream;
caught in an alternate reality.
And at times, you question your sanity;
sandwiched between hype and hyperbole.
Lies grind you down, till you're insensitive
to the pain and suffering of others.
And you don't cry out with indignation,
for babies, pried from the arms of mothers.
The internet offers a disconnect,
where individualism gets erased.
And replacing feelings with emojis,
it is easier to copy and paste.
Humanity has digitized its heart
and through technology, Bluetoothed that part.
Slow wave sleep stage in a state of
Low consciousness with
Eyes wide open, as if awake,
Even though make no mistake, if
Performing activites
With normal energies
Appear with glazed expressions
Likewise make no suggestions.
Known causes unknown...
Inherited or environmental zone.
Nothing like alcoholic blackout...
Generally, eating or sexual workout

July 31, 2018 - Sleepwalking Contest By John Hamilton
Fifth Place
Dear Mary for many years a roving painter,
sadly now her memory has grown fainter.
Her top echelon family struggled to find,
someone to corral her wandering mind.
After a letter was sent by best rest home.
Please confine your mother to bed at night,
Her neighbours have complained in fright.
of white clad midnight door knocking,
Yelling and banging on windows even more shocking.
She must sleepwalk no more
Or we have to show you the door!

(A true story)
As dusk floats on a garden strip
Time replays an unspoken dream,
Where jasmines press upon my lip
Lens closed, these warm hands fling upstream.
With mist adrift, I prance arise
As dusk floats on a garden strip…
Hours stay, then dash like a firefly
Leaving me to hunt for old ties.
This walk of sleep imbues moon’s tip
Enthralled by past kin's astral glide--
As dusk floats on a garden strip
Till heaven opens zone's divide.
And nightingales wheel mellow tunes:
Returning, I doze into joy's whip
Back where trance of comfort resumes,
As dusk floats on a garden strip.

Sleepwalking Contest for John Hamilton
They said he was guiltless of sin.
He’d been sleepwalking all his life!
And this was the state he was in
when he murdered his “precious” wife.
His defense with big holes seemed rife.
For instance, his spouse he’d abused.
He’d been sleepwalking all his life
was the argument they still used.
To prison he didn’t get sent
though twenty times he’d plunged that knife!
Stupid jury said “Innocent” -
(he’d been sleepwalking all his life).

- When you feel like your in a trance
baby things tend to get bad
The way you feel and think
Determine you daily decisions ,drained or demise
You've got to understand
That you live in the present
Hey , that's now my friend
Stop acting like nothing matters and live
This is your onceler moment
The way you act now depends on it - AB
When you think that life is strange
Then you're on the right tracks
When it seems ordinary and mundane
Then you have to shake things up
For what is the point of living
If it feels like you are dead
Where all imagination and creativity has left
What's the point in just sleepwalking
Unconsciously through life
I believe we should make the most of our lives
There nothing more important than the present time
What's gone is gone and the future cannot be defined
Open up your eyes to strangeness and you'll no longer live life blind.
There was a smart young lad named Blaze
stress and nervousness on test days
tried to "calm down," laugh and talk.
The night before he'd sleepwalk,
he’d find himself in the dawn rays.
