Sit down - by Dominique Smith
Sit down! Sit yo ass down! You need to chill. What happened!? Whatever it is it's your fault. Because I see you as a problem with no solution. No one is looking at you. Sure try and say( hi) They'll think you have an attitude. You say nothing and you have a bad mood.
Sit down somewhere maybe you'll blend in, No not there, that has people. No not there either they don't know you. Smile! No not like that, you look like a murderer! Omg just sit down! Why are you shaking?! You're too old for this ! Damnit pull it together and sit down. You look lost and stupid! This is why you got what you got as a kid. You cant go home now! You just got here! You're too sweaty! For sake smile!!! HEY! shut the up!
You're doing great. Just pick a spot and sit down. You look amazing and you're the one In control. Remember that you are great. I love you so much, you make you're own sunshine! Now take your seat and sit down.

How would you describe a real man
One with muscles uses bad language like damn
Well slap my knee
They sit down to pee
With his normal image of pushing a pram

They couldn't sit down 'till they got it out of town.
To send it back was nice,
But who'd have bet the odds,
They'd send it back with mice,
And golden emerods.

Scrambling onto the rich green and purple magic carpet,
I waited in eager anticipation, for her golden threads fascinated me.
“Quiet!” the pirate king cautioned.
Reading mirth in my mind?
I turned and smiled.
The carpet started off, and I promptly sat.
I grabbed the genii’s leg as I fell and he smacked me.
“Sit down!” the genii told the Pirate King.
Pirate King laughed.
He was not used to orders.
He fell off twice.
The first time we swooped down and saved him.
I imagine he thought we would do it again,
but we didn’t.
I stared at genii.
No worries, he told me. I will turn him into an eagle,
and he did.

Children sit down to eat food at home
A strong suggestion that no one uses their phone.
No ipads no vines as they pass the time
Let's talk and laugh to know they are fine.
One kick hear one kick there
You pass the carrots with a smiling stare.
They speak of days they play with friends
Actions and adventures playfulness sends.
The deep devotion you show your kids
Is of utmost importance and first on your list.
They slip away into rooms they sleep
To have conversations that can be deep.
Just hope they're safe and know your there
For the times they will need to know you really care.

He's unlike the kind you see on stage,
who do stand up like their actors in a play,
instead he'll sit down and build and create,
while he and his quirky imagination go on a nutella date,
He conjures up animal's who build rockets,
or writes about belly lint or whats in his pockets,
sometimes about unique strawberry women or unicorns,
or spam, pork rinds, or a zoo he might scorn,
His funny, quirky poems are definitely hard to resist,
that's why they're on my poetry reading list,
most of them light, comical and never a bore,
they'll tickle your funny bone right to the core,
That's why I try to read them first thing in the morn,
before I go to work and head out the door,
I'm sure like me he's a poet on the run,
just thankful he has time to be a sit down comedian.
12-10-16 Happy Birthday M.H. and thanks for your funny, quirky poems!

My hearts beats
heavy in my chest,
As steady as
the tapping of your foot
on the linoleum.
The dripping faucet,
the ticking clock,
the bubbling coffee maker.
Only in silence
does noise grow loudest to the ears.
My very own movements
feel foreign and unnatural,
As disassociated as you in my kitchen.

Why does Tilly*
break smelly wind
fed good food
best can buy
why I wonder
do I try
to sustain levels
maybe I might
just only buy
any cheap meat
this might work
or just maybe
sit down wind
nostrils shut tight
breathe through mouth
sounds so uncouth
poor old Tilly
such a bind
that she has
wind that smells
so yuck

sit down
they tell me
sit down
calm that voice
calm that spirit voice
thats wants to revolutionize
and change hateworld
calm that love
calm that spirit, they say
fearing day of love
fearing reckoning of truth
sit down
sit down they say
sit down they say
sit your thoughts down
sit your love down
sit your truth down
they say
they want to sit the truth down
they want to shut the truth up
I will not sit down
I will stand
I will stand erect and proud
like a lovesoldier that I am
searching for truth eternal
too moral
to hold
too moral to keep down
too moral to keep silent
do not tell me to stand
I will stand guard like a good soldier
I will stand.

I get crazy pacen the floor
waiten for you to walk through the door
From God knows where
talk to me baby-give it to me straight
My thoughts are emotionally impaired
I overheard you tell a friend
just the other day
you had figured out an easy way
To tell me you were through
sit down baby-give it to me straight
tell me its just not true
I'm not sure what its all about
Seems to me you have it all figured out
But i would'nt know
Cause the only thing you say to me anymore
Is good-bye
As your walking out the door
Leaving me at
With only loneliness to face
Sit down baby-give it to me straight
I'm about to become a basket case
Sit down baby-give it to me straight
Tell me its just not true
Tell me-I'm not wastin my time
Stayin in love with you

To wander life, an aimless fellow
Under sunlight, bright and yellow,
Walking roads and rough terrain
May seem to settlers quite insane.
To have a home and plot of land,
A friendly neighbors helping hand,
And happy tales of family lore
The wanderer would find a bore.
A settler and a wanderer sit down to have a chat,
Each asking of the other guy, "How could you live like that?"
The settler prays the wanderer will someday realize,
Yet over the horizon, the wanderers heart lies.

sit down by the bridge
listen to the babbling brook
close my eyes and dream
imagine fairies dancing
and riding the backs of fish

For two years we tried to get her to talk.
For the same two years, to get her to walk.
For the next sixteen years
Through frustration and tears,
Asked to sit and shut up, she'd balk.
