Staring through,
Eyes so new.
Forgive me,
For judging you.
We've been trained to,
Single out the few,
who dont fit the view.
Picking them apart,
Like the vultures do.
--------------
Growing more each day,
Seeing the error of my way.
I start thinking,
About what to say.
How words play,
such important roles,
Touching souls,
So deep,
They weep.
--------------
As we grow older,
The surface grows colder.
Often giving someone,
The cold shoulder.
Words from the past,
They smolder.
Creating a boulder,
Robbing our opportunity,
blocking life's beauty.
Hiding the truth of love,
From The Eyes Of The Beholder

Poetry Soup abounds in poets who are special in unique ways and for me it was so hard to single out just one. So I was reluctant to join this contest. However at the last moment, I thought of choosing one, Edward Ibeh, a true gentleman in my eyes, who never comes to limelight, except for the contests he holds from time to time.
E - Effective words in place, a poet’s grace.
D - Diligent in duties and devoted to virtue in every place.
W- Wisdom and humility combine in this forbearing soul.
A - Authentic heart that cherishes life in its whole.
R - Radiates kindness like a guiding light.
D - Dignified in character, making many hearts bright.
I – Illustrious poet with a passion for his art, so genuine.
B - Braving adversities, in family and community shine.
E - Elevates fellow poets, giving due respect to all.
H - Honorable in every way, he's a gentlemanly soul.

Mistakes were they deliberate or was it not intentional so what's
the point wasting anyone's time?
If one's intentions were true yet the pieces to the puzzle are scrabbled
by past, present mistakes.
Mistakes doesn't single out, trembles and don't becomes deflated
by numerous mistakes made unintentionally are no longer counted,
Yet mistakes are jarring, run deep like a river. Streaming where this
water may flow next? Free will, possibilities one might utter about
mistakes repeatedly, are often reminded by someone you trust
that keeps reminders I told you, when will you learn from being dupable
from these mistakes?

It's always the impoverished
that get it worse.
On occasions the wealthy
get it,
but the poor
can expect to get it worse.
Mother Nature
goes for the weakest buildings,
the driest wood,
the lowest,
most fragile among us
The meek often end up
precipitously dead.
Often, I ponder
about inheriting the Earth
I mean, is it worth it?
Often, I wonder if lightning bolts
especially single-out the meek.
I guess it's good to be special.

all day, all night
you are the love of my life
sunrise or without light
door I keep in my life
big or small, I come to you
few or plenty, I fill you
any color you show me
clean as I go, you don't leave me
can't count the times I open you
people, young and old, depend on you
even guests can see you
visitors greet and adore you
not everyone sees all inside of you
blessings and happiness you keep in you
power you unleash in us all the time
from you, life goes on for a lifetime.
many years you stayed with us
memories of you grew with us
stickers and magnets you had and felt
pickers of cravings never melt
you are always full when we're happy
sometimes we're sad when you're empty
different stuffs you keep inside
feelings for us you cannot hide
we know how generous you are
keeping us healthy and bright like a star
at night when lights are off
your light shines upon us without scoff
how can we ever forget you?...
you're worth more than a friend out of you
people have aged and you're still there
the one and the only "single" out there!...
thank you for everything.

It is a quiet room
Not designed for
But morphed into
A place of reflection.
Too old to hunt
I am left with my “trophies”
Dust covered mementos
Of an eager youth
Embracing the inherent danger
Facing the unknown
Daring to stare down the herd
Single out the prize
and wait
for the perfect moment
to click
send to cart.
Thus, I now sit
In my Amazon Trophy Room
Surrounded by…..

What do you do with pain
What do you do with illness
You either give in or live with it
Surgeries, medications, herbal remedies
Prayer faith and atonement
Everyone suffers
Everyone hurts
Life is precious and fleeting
Is it unfair for life to drag endlessly in youth
And race away so fast as adults when we could use it the most
No use crying
Just smile
Limp along and use whatever aid you need
A cane, a walker, a brace, a wheel chair
but get out there in the thick of life
If others feel uneasy because of you
Let them, for everyone of those
There are the blessed souls who'll open a door
and assist you, God Bless the good
Life seems unfair but everyone has loss
everyone has fears, everyone has doubt
You are not the only one
You haven't been single out
You are not being punished
It's part of life
So if you need to when at home
Go ahead
Scream, shout , rage. cry, let it out, let it go
But have something to look forward to
Have something to believe in
"In the beginning God created..."
Live with it.

If you were born in the month of August
Be cool, be calm, be wise and be robust
Summertime is almost over
And autumn is around the corner
Teeny or feeble leaves are falling
Some days are hot or humid like spring
Yellow tiny bugs are crawling everywhere
As customary, the hot summer rays failed
To obliterate quite a few. This is no fairy tale
Let’s wish everyone born in the dawn of August
Many Happy Birthdays. Let’s single out no one
Be cool, be calm, be wise and be robust
Love will remain in the air for everyone
To enjoy the very end of summer
In the name of the Savior.

Waters ... Whimsical and essential
Can't be destroyed
Energies ...constant if constantly
Deployed, somehow alloyed
Ancient witnesses
To us now, an ancestor, who gazed in utter awe and wonder
Watching waterfalls through countless generations?
Why, then, single out a singular discoverer?

Tears of laughter appear on my face when this poet's lines I embrace
* There are several poets who write wonderful humorous poetry, and to single out only one, I'd be doing the others an injustice.

DARE TO BE CHALLENGED
Imagine if a human could shed their skin,
Inside out and from within,
We could then see anything foul,
We would bare our brain, heart and soul
Anything suspicious we would detect,
From our toes to our head,
We would be able to label humans suspect,
Or else quite correct, as we had checked!
Technology will one day do just this,
If one’s mind is on merely giving a kiss
Or perhaps we could single out a criminal,
Programmed intensely, techno and digital.
But this sounds so advanced, science fiction,
To us today, sounds like work of magician,
For if indeed our souls can be examined
Are we still destined for heaven or challenged?

We can single out the tenacious grass after a storm
And the most devoted officials in turbulence.
A bully knows nothing about morality and justice,
While a wise man always harbours benevolence.

sometimes
the words encourage
often they speak
of how many feel
they say things that bring people together
and help many get over there fear
yet most wish
not to listen
they single out and counter phrase
they read to reject
and often neglect
these words have seen better phrase.

Capital Crimes
In communist China, there are public executions...
Sentences executed out in swiftly and in all finality...
Such draconian punishment is even levied on woman prisoners.....
Corrupt top officials, man or woman, are branded capital offence criminals...
It is a harsh world of retribution in the vast lands of China...
Here in Bolehland, things are so very much different...
Guilty politicians, they stay together and cover up for the other...
Like birds of a feather, you see them flocking together....
Like a herd of zebras rampaging in the wild....
You get cross eyed trying to single out a particular one....
You end up bewildered, there are so many zebras running wild...
Hohoho...
