this is the story of dowd
famished though inside a cloud
yearned for a toaster
found him a poster
sorry no dining allowed.
England's staid Queen Victoria
Yearned for NYC's Waldorf Astoria
Victoria's secret? She was no prude
Greeted room service completely nude
I longed for the pleasures
desires sequestered
all that I yearned for I get
but I forfeit my soul
when fire took control
and it burns internally yet
once a young pumpkin named bill
yearned for a bigger life thrill
though lacking in feet
he'd roll down a street
into the nearest car grille.
Sagebrush Sam was tired of blowing
His impatience was keenly showing
Always in sandy land that needed no mowing
He yearned for Iowa where it was snowing
she gave without first asking if she may
took the sport right out of it
he yearned for the challenge

Saint Michael loved the Milky Way
And thought he would skip Judgment Day
He yearned for a Snicker
The Devil heard, "liquor"
Now you know why prey always pray!
I was so angry
His betrayal screamed through me
Deafening my heart
I yearned for revenge, but then
Sweetest forgiveness soothed me

Mr Moody yearned for a big pickle
His taste buds he needed to tickle
He ate twenty four
Then fell on the floor
Digestion can be oh so fickle
The stooped gait
the squinting eye
A curmudgeon sure
personified...
Yet when from parted lips
his timeless treasures poured
The very Founts of Wisdom
yearned for even more
Once there was a man called Ice, the Dice
Yearned for love, marriage and children
trapped rich Cinderella by trick and style
Cinderella turned “idiot Ice” “intellect vapor”
Bloody Is vapor smoke?
Lucy wanted a cat, but her mother said, 'No!'
With all of her heart, she yearned for one so
But her mother'd been scratched by a cat long ago
Lucy's sorrow the greater, 'cos she didn't know
I tried to cut my toenails, but I couldn't bend.
It gets harder and harder the nearer the end.
And there's just no hope for a remedy.
Your body's becomes the enemy ~
and death a yearned for friend.
Clyde yearned for a kiss 'neath the mistletoe
But not a gal took notice of his woe
The ladies just twittered
As by him they skittered
His fly was unzipped and ALL was aglow
He wasn’t mine
Yet he was mine
He yearned for me
Same way I yearned for him
But he didn’t notice
And so didn’t I see
He was close
Yet far from close
It felt right
Though it wasn’t right
Buried within me
Will he be
Long have I yearned for you.
The feel of your arms around me.
You bodies heat seeping into mine.
It is a thirst that will not be quenched.
To have you for just one night,
that it might slake my fevered need,
I fear would be as putting oil on a fire.
Form:
I crossed all the lines
Left my whole world behind
Over and over I cried and cried
Virtually at some point I died
Every thing I did or at least tried
Yearned for your love far and wide
Only to prove thing you never knew
Until I made you believe that I love you
The students in my classrooms were deeper than the rest!
They yearned for knowledge only, and I, their prof, felt blessed.
This was my giddy thought
when my first class I taught…
until I heard the ditty: "Will this be on the test?”
Old Don Jon yearned for a last fling
and found out he still had the sting,
With the magic blue pill
and ready for the kill
He now knew will last beyond spring.

~Limerick Contest II by JAN ALLISON.
(Inspired by "The Thrill was Gone" by Barbara Gorelick)
I had yearned for it all my life
That simple gesture
That finally healed
The open wound
That for years
Bled
In a silent stream
That fell Between
The cracks in
You and me
When with a gentle sigh
You looked
Into my eyes
Held my hand
And kissed my fingertips
The day
Before you died
long haired blue eyed doll
in a shop window displayed
the child yearned for it
the mother noticed
her face showed melancholy
not enough money
the big doll stays put
she took her sad child by hand
looking back crying
at home she daydreamed
the mother baked her a cake
the girl smiled and ate
I tried my best
to solve the problem like quest
I yearned for days
But Let's just part ways
I hold no grudge
knowing you won't budge
sometimes things don't fit
so we will just split.
My anger is very hard to deal
so I forgive you hope it heal

For the Contest: Healing power of forgiveness
I look deep into your eyes and
I see the magic I have yearned for.
Thanks for letting me see the light,
When I felt only darkness.
Thanks for allowing us,
To feel that special love, if only,
But a drop in time, at least we lived it.
I never thought I could fall in love,
But you reached into my heart,
And touched my soul.
ever yearned for that second chance? ever wanted that redo that retry? i myself regret every second of every minute of every hour of every day for i have faltered one to many times and beg for that rewind button but it will never come my way we learn from our mistakes we cant fix them just reminisce on how much pain they caused us
Remember you and me
We used to sit at the park
Talking with our coffee
Till they threw us out
We’d share laughter’s smile
So many wonderful nights
It was wrong but we didn't care
When I put my arm around you
Something out of the ordinary
Something out of our control
Amazing in its rare form
Something we both yearned for
