Laid To Rest

I had yearned for it all my life
That simple gesture
That finally healed
The open wound
That for years
Bled
In a silent stream
That fell Between
The cracks in
You and me
When with a gentle sigh
You looked
Into my eyes
Held my hand
And kissed my fingertips
The day
Before you died

Hi there dear Lainie--this write of yours touched my heart as well-- I do think that you've conveyed your emotions quite well in this one too--I'm so sorry as well for your loss over your dad--losing someone we love is indeed one of the hardest things in life-and writing just helped me a lot-- thank you again for your touching comments-- nikko :)

Oh, Lainie, I'm so glad the expression of love you needed for so long finally came. Too bad it had to come so late, but it did heal the wound, didn't it? Excellent poem, dear, and it's great to see you posting again. Love, Carolyn
