The Pertinacious Donkey
Its an old saying,
stubborn as a mule
The old Italian
yanked,
and the donkey said,
"now that ain't cool"...

A boy can't drive endlessly forever. Going home is justified.
Knocking loudly makes nice old Pop quickly respond,
Smiling tearfully, "Uncle Victor's wild xerus yanked zinnias".

Premium Member A Plea In Its Eye
The dog slinks past me
   a plea in its eye
bowed head upraised
   barely

Turning toward me
   piteously --

Snap!
its collar is yanked back

Plea denied...

Overflowing With Hope
The house is as fresh as a drain -
the toilet is blocked yet again -
but 'nature arose'
and holding my nose,
I prayed as I yanked on the chain...

Gypsea
Gypped by the sea, the tossing
yanked a breath out, carelessly ~
Propped on a cliff edge, a deep
surge, swept over the hopeless ~
Escape came from birthed love:
A Nymphean with eyes of aqua ~

Premium Member Loss of a Dear Friend
I lost a dear old friend the other day.

His loss leaves a vacancy, I must say!

      I was sad beyond belief,

Yet, in truth 'twas a relief.

('Twas a molar doc yanked due to decay!)

No Chance
No chance to hold on
To what was slipping
Not strong enough
It’s leaking through my fingers

My hands aren’t big enough
To grasp what’s left
To clutch it to me
To savor the rest

Yanked from my grip
My fingers bleeding and raw
Like the heart that is empty
Now that you’re gone...

An Indian Giver of the Heart
Way back in the years you gave to me your heart..
Yanked it back so fast before it could even start..
I pitter pattered through my mind to see what went wrong..
I questioned my inner mind to just see where I belong..
A gift so special torn away , the pain like a piercing dart..

Gather Laughter
Willows wink cautiously, stream downtrodden steep cavern

fixed twelve ancient existence, dim lit dreamscape.

Draw scribble hitherto fortune gold melt, cent tenth.

Alas awake if could name such, surround rusts faded silence.

Quit sorrow dilemma yanked empire squander

tear victim of gravity’s twisted humor,

A Shallow Breath
I am fret-less,
in a fingers slide
palming the sublime

a lost cord
the first guide
on my journey
I was yanked
into destiny’s
embrace

alien phantastic
orphaned to never
and bound
on the loom
of fate

I kiss sleep from
your mouth
and bathe
in dreams
of you

I am incandescent
on a loop of twine...

A Strange Mariner
She was lying on the Ethel’s turret with a sting in the tail
Felt a squirt on her face and barrette; is it the end of the tale?
Water water everywhere water, not a drop to drink
Ho ho the machine does totter, not a moment of wink
She yanked her pants up ,tail between legs, and crossed the sea without sail...

16 Masks
I counted 16 masks today,
Discarded on the street.
The back-to-normal has begun
But isn’t quite complete.

I’m guessing most, by accident,
Were dropped upon the ground,
Not jubilantly yanked from faces
Since new rules abound.

Still, 16 masks? Just weeks ago
There’d be 10 times as many
And likely, in a few months’ time,
I doubt if there’ll be any....

Stages of the Same Bob
When he was Infant Bob
Often had had to sob
For a freely shared cob…

As Grown-Up Wrangling Bob
Angrily yanked off knob
After a half paid job…

Now Climaxed Adult Bob
Would at friends spit a gob,
Each time he missed a mob
That folks attacked to rob,
The lot shutting their gob,
Since they’d dared forget Bob…

Same Bob at each level
His one guide: The Devil....

Premium Member My Military Days
On my very first day in the military, I was issued a comb,
then the Army barber shaved off all of my hair that very afternoon.
On my second day in the military a toothbrush was issued to me.
That afternoon the Army dentist yanked out all of my teeth.
On my third day in the military I was issued a jock strap.
I've been AWOL ever since and I'll be damned if I'm going back....

To the Clever
Here is the roses for your bed
You only get them when your dead
You wanted chimes so you yanked some chains
Yet you couldn’t handle the noises it brang
Remember though the noise subsides
By showing off just what you hide
Their nothing like a final christening
To muffle the ears of all the listening
And my favorite part of this regretful game
Is to admit your good, just as I the same...

or some kind of conduit
or some kind of hubble-bubble
perhaps a shower hose

my daughter has learnt to say 'door'
she enjoys knocking her head on them
she dances to anything

or maybe wrapped in the pipe where
schubert's songs came from

i yanked the window off the wall
haven't replaced nor fixed it yet
looking for a window of opportunity...

Not His Night
This was a night all pitchers hate. He had trouble getting the ball over the plate. When he did, the batters displayed their power. The manager yanked him for an early shower. This pitcher wanted to hide in an ivory tower. In a few days, another game will come, fortunately. Pitchers have no need for any memory. He will just have to try all over again. All baseball players are mere mortal men.

The Wind
Clouds fly by,
Like cars racing in the sky.

Storms roll in,
They bring rain again.

Tree limbs bend and sway,
Causing leaves to dance their own way.

The current in the lake is slow,
By the glistening you catch a direction of its flow.

Smoke and steam from factories roll,
To be yanked away as if paying with their soul.

In the distance an American Flag is waving,
As if to say hi to a country that might need saving....

Premium Member Abra-Cadaver
Drip, drip
Drip, drip
Melts the soiled soul onto
A dusty field of abandon

Fenced in by human limbed pickets
Yanked from the graves
Of broken hearts

Skeletal branched silhouettes
Clatter above the bloodless
Hole in the ground

The Ravens hide in the shadows
The shadows hide behind stone crops
The crops provide bountiful skulls

What is the illusion without a live audience?
Who, or what heard the solemn incantation of
Abra-Cadaver?...

Premium Member Ah, Golfslangadang
Grip it, rip it, stick it.
Bombed it, flopped it, topped it too.

Stay, sit, slice, scoot,
Run, kick, roll, draw,
Carry, fly, die, spin,
Watch the little ball go in.

Hop, get up, get down,
Break, oh please just bite,
Ah, the glories of the ball in flight.

On the screws, hit it pure,
Nailed it, straight and sure,
Chunked it, yanked it,
Shanked it, pulled...
Oh, it broke the other way,
Sorry guys I got fooled...
Not my day.

Claiming Territory
Claiming Territory

Amongst blades of grass
Stubborn weeds
Spread adamant seed
standeth proudly
In its glory
From its lips it utterth
A song
Several generations strong

A mirror of the sun
Yanked from the earth
The mother birthed
It , too, bleeds
At its core
Where it’s heart beats
It breaks free through concrete
Making its presence known
Navigating terrain
Claiming territory

Halloween Conquest
When I saw them coming I knew what to do

Straightened out the white sheets and pulled my mask down, too.

When the doorbell rang I yanked it wide

Three sets of eyeballs stood there white eyed~

They didn't expect my ghostly "BOO"!

"Trick or Treat" one finally professed

My staring gaze...they thought me possessed.

I grabbed a handful of candy for each

And with an alabaster hand stretched out my reach~

I thought, "Another Halloween Conquest"!...
