wriggling my nose
looking cross eyed at raindrops…
trickling sunshine

red streaks on maple
sunrise taunts the wriggling worms
a cardinal preys
blueblack of ravens
irridescent folded capes
peeking at sunrise

The truth is outdated
Falsehoods inflated
With hyperbole
created…
Fishing poles baited
wriggling worms slated
to reel in us guppies
addlepated…

a Goldfinch hoping
along an old weathered fence
pear tree blossoms
early afternoon
green woodpecker in field
hidden by wet grass
a small garden pond
hundreds of tiny tadpoles
wriggling at the edge

Worrisome wiggle worms
wishfully wiping Wedgewood windows,
wandering within William’s whiskers.
Wisely wriggling while wistfully waiting
for whoops within William’s whiskers,
wiggle worms wandering winsomely.

From
Winter's
Fertile womb
Spring leaps newborn
Joy filled daffodils
Ribbons of rose sunshine
New music trimmed in lilac
Wrens and robins return the song
And savor wriggling joy like fat worms
Fragrant fantasies spin on silver rain

The Crying Child
The child cries
wriggling limbs
Scrolling the heavens
Cringing away
from the clinging shadows
Streaming tears
drowning the earth
Echoing thunders
across the land
The land bleeds
even as the creators sleeps

Light Verse
bottom of a bowel
of jagged rocks
slender bristling pines
ring a ragged sky
through which slips
slivers of warmth
hugging me like a child
on this crisp morning
life on the line
wiggling wriggling
jumping
splashing, flashing
slippery, cold, and firm
in my grasp

Free verse
drawn down in
consummation
from heaven’s compost
I shall not be.
hacked as though
I were a succulent berry
juiced for the taking
I shall not be.
caught vole by a
diving shrike’s
talons
I shall not be.
I shall be Houdini
wriggling free.

We lie back listening
to the popping of stars in their pods.
I fish for words
that are not raw and wriggling.
You smoke a spiral staircase.
The car keeps swaying in our heads
over a shock absorbing silence.
I know you are looking through me,
searching for love-bones.
Sorry.

I know you are looking through me,
searching for love-bones

Flagging socks in worn-down boots
shiver in storm-soaked suits
wriggling worms cast as prey
off ghostly piers, rods bend and sway
dawn awaits her cue to enter
grouper and bass flash front and center
solitary rowboat far from shore
kerosene lamp lit no more

What is this creepy thing
Infecting my body?
Busily digesting my flesh, melting,
The first stages of the blob.
End of my extremities
Swell ominously, wriggling,
Undulating like giant worms
Busily digesting my tissue
I’m becoming what I fear most,
Mistaken for castings
Shoveled up and thrown
On the compost heap.

This lyric is for you
take it eat it as cake
it is your great offer
I can make from afar
I can’t see your face
but your spirit is here
wriggling her waist
as I sing sweet melodies
This lyric is for you
take it drink as milk
it is your great gift
I make deep from heart
Dance, my friend dance
Renew your spirit, dance

Lyric
My naked feet slipping into the sand
Toes wriggling like tiny crabs scurrying
To safety while the tide rocks relentlessly
And seagulls swoop down to feast.

TEENAGE GIRLS
In the noisy café giggling
In their seats opposite me wriggling
Teen-age girls lean cheek-by-jowl.
Quiet as a cat’s footstep on a mouse prowl,
Their whispers to one another
With cupped hand-to-mouth to smother
Are so silent you don’t hear anything.
How do they speak so softly anyway?
Who would want to listen anyhow?

Singer Sir Mick Jagger
Walks with a swagger
Wriggling snakelike hips
Pouts with big rubbery lips
Texan model Jerry Hall
Is very skinny and tall
Their Bali wedding wasn’t valid
Mick no longer lives on salad!

Why did God make blowflies?
To try our patience
There is no doubt.
They'll land on juicy steak
When you leave it out
Very soon you will find
Little maggots wriggling on fresh meat
The blowfly has laid her babies
Now isn't that so sweet?
That's what God intended
All his creatures do
Go forth and multiply
That is his golden rule

Men grunting
Mothers sighing
All wailing
for the willing soul
With a lamenting pitch
As he renders
a resounding call
With a rising Crescendo
Prising into every heart
Wriggling while thrusting away
from this wanton emptiness
Seeking relief amidst his mortal folks
Hailing his willingness to abide
As they rove around
Daring fate to his face.

Narrative
By a creek I sink my feet
in yesterday’s rain.
A swirl of green water
sucks at my boots.
Water rats swim near
not afraid of my stillness.
A willow tree sheds yellow catkins
they drop like magical caterpillars
wriggling as they learn to swim.
I scratch an itchy nose,
creek, rats and willow dreams
sink away
into nothing much,
just the usual mud.

Before dying
Wriggling soil
Asked the children
Would you give
The leafy eyes
Only to see me?
Before the fall
Writhing earth
Entreated the children
would you give
The ears of green trees
Only to hear me?
To the world of the matured
Went the little ones
Searching leafy eyes and ears.
Will they return?
If return
Will the soil and earth remain?

Prose Poetry
watching through the looking lens as wickedness unfolds
wriggling complicit, lounging in my comfort seat
knee on neck, agony again, ... Again, .... AGAIN, ..... and YET AGAIN!
weighing heavy, bearing down, my weary conscience scolds
weaponise my wringing hands and my tongue-tied feet
I CAN'T BREATHE! good-causes relieve the pressure
....... but only now and then

I forget what form of poetry this is (wrote it for English class a while back.)
Swallow within your own, Panic!
Wriggling in its strong grasp, Suffering!
Subdued beneath its murk, Frantic!
Twitching weakly with hope, Flickering!...
Peacefully captive lost soul, Unspoken…
Recalling events long past, Ebbing…
Neglected feelings pour out, Broken .

I do not know?
What fish must think of us fishermen
Do they wonder why we annoy them so
with wriggling worms on silver hooks
invading their waters, we weird-looking schnooks
Casting far out in hopes of catching bass
or just dropping a line with bobbing popcorn
Fanatics take up the hunt by four in the morn
no matter the forecast, sunshine or storm
