Limerick : Once a Lonely Grand-Dad in a Log-Jam

Once a Lonely Grand-Dad in a Log-Jam
Paid an urgent visit to a Grande-Dame*
She lifted the stuck log
During Pea-Souper smog
Damn ! Got carried down Grand-Dad Rapids – Wham !

* Dame : pronounced as in French

The Lost Woods
I was wandering through the Lost Woods.
The Lost Woods of your heart.
Checking every tree on the way.
Making sure I was going the right way.
I even marked my trail.
Suddenly all that hard work down the drain.
Wham!I took a wrong direction.
Now I'm back to the beginning searching for the Lost Woods....

Dudley Do Right.
And he did right, but he was banal and dull.
Polly Purebred went for Under Dog
The king of Pow! Bam! Zam! Whap! Whack! Wham!
Smash! Smack! Slap! Hit!
We are told to go for the easy-going sweet ones,
But maybe some of us learned to love the bad boys
when we watched the cartoons of the sixties....

The Unfortunate Spider
He lilts upon a silken bed,
gossamer beauty in his web,
a small figure of black and red,
cliché yes, but it must be said

that I am amazed by the sight,
glints of fleet, yellowed sunlight,
the strands wave as if in flight,
briefest flash of purest white…

But he spun his web in my
bathroom, so…WHAM!!...

Whack and Wallop
Wham! That music is dainty.
But the bass drum gives it a kick.
Such tympanic contrast.
A tasteful tune with a rap,
such a whack, such a wallop.

Memory can tease, torture,
create that tasteful tune
while dredging up a thought
of something better not called back,
to avoid such a whack, such a wallop.

Learn How To Jam
Relax.
Be calm.
Place your palms,
Grab two handfuls of berries
In basins with raisins.
Open your mouth.
Close your eyes.
Inhale, smell it well
Then eat,
Enjoy your treat,
A messy feat.
Next your feet.
Step on your berries
And raisins in basins.
Wham, slam.
Tramp along.
Sing a song.
Now you know how to jam!...

Premium Member Raid of the Fleas
A toddler’s heels wham… flip flop flip flop
Annoyed by the sound that runs non-stop,
Dad grabs a plug to cover his ears
While an army of fleas seem to appear
Invading pet cat as child squirts a hose,
“I must declare, it’s a raid...I suppose”
As father throws kitty out the door,
Son plays with bug gadgets...toys' galore!

I was a nervous young fawn
Tasting sweet April grass in a lovely meadow
Sensing danger, realizing wolves were surrounding me
Bam!

I had shapeshifted into one of them.
Their alpha was sharp, he sensed I was still a deer.
He urged them to close in.
Wham!

I am now an eagle,
soaring high above the pack, out of reach
Even their alpha looks confused
I do not think they understand shapeshifters....

Captain America is holding them back!

With a zap, wap, whapp and zappp
He's trying his best not to snap

His shield will clang, kapanng and taaanng
while his body boangs, kapanngs and bwangs

Watch out for the sleeper who walks with a thoom
he'll get Cap with a boom, thwoom and bar-ooom

But our man can outlast the thuds, woofs and crunches
he'll wham them and give them whummpes...

Premium Member Hit By a Bike
I was hit by a bike this morning.
Wham! She came out of nowhere.
Dented my car too.
I am sure it’s going to be costly.
Luckily I did not get whiplash.
Just WHAM! Unexpectedly out of nowhere.

That is horrible. Is the bike rider okay?
I am pretty sure.
How do you know?
She smiled at me.
Hi! She said. I am five.
She waved and kept on going.

Wait a second.
Was this a bike or a trike?’
Possibly a trike.
Feeling less sorry for him now…....

Premium Member Wonderment Magic Meditation
Magic reveals the awe of wonder:
Surprising that we don't focus.
It hits us like a clap of thunder,
One can't conjure Hocus Pocus!

Charmed by stunning invocation,
Enchanting mysteries we must know.
Locked in a spell's incantation -
All are amazed by Presto Chango!

As awareness arises with a wham -
Aha moments intrude inner space.
Abracadabra and Alakazam!
Wonder stops certainty in its place.

Thought becomes still in meditation,
Wonderment can cause liberation....

“Satisfied” has never entirely
peaked in me; just when I feel
at a pinnacle – Wham!--another
smack of barbecue embraces and
spicy grins –

We are appetites by nature –

inclined toward luscious
entries, and pastry treats,

(for the veggie it's veggies,
for the carnivore it's meats –
our plush courses, the anchor
of all seats) –

an organic slice from the
earth; a topping like heaven
but a devil on the scale –
no avoiding the sweat-room
whether female or male.......
