shimmering thermals
rise like the unleashed phoenix
summer storm has fled

Golden eagles soar
on warm thermals effortless
preying silhouettes

I watched an eagle
its long wings curled up at the tips
soaring high on the thermals.
Then it was gone

I do not know?
I shiver….
My heart beats faster in anticipation of your touch
You caress me
Embracing every curve of my body ….
I so love a frosty day when I can wear my thermals!

Love,new love
floats on air
thermals of desire
fuel
passion's flight
off the wall
out of this world
drifting
together without
a care
kissing
missing minutes
become hours
one dream becomes
another

In the hazy air, the camera drone
followed the stagnant river of traffic,
telegraphing images to control.
The thermals from the searing hot pavement
fighting with the machine’s languid progress
following a braising stream of escapees
from the oppressive summer city heat;
now, slowly cooking in their own tin cans.

I feel like a phoenix's and I'm am wise
I spread my wings and take to the sky's
With my feathers blazing with flames of fire
Seeking out thermals to make me go higher
I turn to the sun I can't feel the heat
I cannot die I cannot be beat
My fire buns out but I feel no pain
You see I'm a phoenix I will be born again.

Thermal air currents in physics are primarily explained by the Second Law of Thermodynamics which states that heat always flows from a hotter to a colder region, causing the warmer air to rise and cooler air to sink, creating convection currents.
A murmuration
Gliding along on thermals
Starlings ascending

I, a Scottish Golden Eagle so regal on the breeze
To soar on thermals high over Scottish Glens with ease
To look down on the lands of kilted, pipes and lochs
Witnessing the scattering of our clans, be present at our loss
For Andrea's Blog, if you were to be a animal?

I wish to fly.
Up in the clouds on high.
In the thermals to rise.
High in the sky's.
Oh, what joy to swoop and glide.
Somersault and slide.
Heavenly vistas to see.
Far away over the sea.
Gliding along, singing a song.
Happy, all the day long.
See for miles ,face wreathed in smiles.
Higher than anyone has been.
In my flying machine.

Around in circles, round and round,
Spiraling up above the ground
On thermals rising ever higher,
Effortless ride for fork-tailed flier.
Then, talons locked, they cartwheel down,
Orbiting, circling round and round.
They mew and mew like flying cats,
Amazing aerial acrobats !
Still circling, clockwise corkscrew flight,
Ever upwards 'til out of sight.

Up
in the sky
on thermals
riding high,
a kite;
Out
from below
looking to and fro,
three sleepy
dormice;
High
in a tree,
so,so hungry
nestlings,one,two
and three,
Straight,
to their door
today's plat du jour
live rodents
galore

Light Verse
in our secret world
lips to lips
our hearts in passion
pound
our needs
in whispers sound
pleasure's fever
in desire unchained
the crescendo choir
of words
fans the fire
love floats
on thermals
of
kissing
missing minutes
become
hours
in the longing
to give
to receive
to touch
cuddle
& caress

The wind carries on, seeking a peaceful place, to muss hair and raise Cain.
With no friends to meet, it invites the flowers, to scent the summer breeze.
The birds draft its thermals, to far-away places, where sunset calms the wind.
To rest and dream of flight, where the lavender haunts, the windless way.
Then to resume the search, for wild horses' manes, and the whispering pines!

If I were a seagull I would soar
far above the world from shore to shore,
gliding on the Thermals' easy ride
over cliffs and rugged countryside.
Sunkissed, I would swoop down to the land
skim the crested waves and scour the sand,
then as sunset blushed across the sky
stretch my silver wings and start to fly.

Walking with Jeanie
I wander with Jeanie along the wild way
where fields become cliffs that drop down to the bay.
With gulls riding thermals, a whispering sea,
the skylark sings love songs for Jeanie and me.
I whisper that love is sweet joy bound with sorrow,
be with me today and I’ll ask no tomorrow,
then gather a posy as evening comes creeping
to lay on the soil where my lovely is sleeping.

Writing outside
where the failing wind
sources my contours
the whoosh of irreverent travel
slips the ear
and the bristle yap of a garden dog
above mist swords
and billowed edges
whisper in a diluted sun
set for another encore
grass tantalises with samba sways
and bushes wave their tendrilled fingers
in evenings gaps
golden ashes transmute to dirt
as dancing flies
cool in disputed thermals

Wings I never needed to elevate me to you
When my eyes first viewed I was rooted to your core
My past of hurt soon faded soon to be through
Warming thermals in me soared away from sore
Our nights never broken from our very first
Two lost souls in life quenched from loving thirst
Our past of hurt now faded eliminating our cursed
When all it took were words lovely in their versed

Snow does not win victory at Hell’s door,
It transforms to screaming steam,
rising above the piled snowflakes.
Lowly bacteria feed on the heat.
The shimmering water stained,
as colored glass in a cathedral.
A restless beauty reigns imminent,
with destruction a growing sister,
certain to spoil a glorious landscape.
A tumble beneath the inviting waters,
harkens instant reincarnation,
and a meeting with a vast universe.

The deer leaps in the autumn glow
Mindful of the forthcoming snow
In the glen the heather’s in bloom
A wonderful place here in nature’s room
Along the coast the seabirds fly
Catching thermals, riding high
Nests built up along the ridges
Among the rocks, grass and the midges
The waves break many feet below
Causing an iridescent green glow
As plumes of spray escape the brine
An act that’s repeated time after time

Watch
the
red kite
spiralling
so effortlessly.
Rising, lifted high by thermals
above the contours of this parched and dusty landscape.
Forked
tail
swivels,
directing
his graceful circles
in seemingly timeless motion.
His lifelong mate follows at measured pace, faithfully.
For
hours
airborne,
high aloft
the russet raptor
gliding with hardly a wingbeat.
I relax and watch and sense the joy of free spirits.

Calm Spring
Winters dust fades
We’ll step out on that date
With the symphony of bird song
Brushing my cold bones with orange blossoms
Above fanfares of daffodils
Blowing ripples of warmth
No more thermals
Calm Spring

The last of Autumn
Falls to the ground
Winter clouds
All around
Frost and snow
With a little sun
Is out of our window
For the months to come
Around winters corner
Spring appears
The cold left behind
A new living frontier
Warm thermals arrive
Summer in bloom
Our outlook changes
Seasonal perfume
This short write was sparked by Karen O'Leary's Haiku " frosty " ty.
